I had the same problem as you on my project squarebody truck but the right side was not working and different colour wiring. After watching your video I ran a jumper wire and it works! I have an open or short to ground on the dark green wire, plus the flasher is no good! Thank you for doing the video. It helped!
Man i changed the relay(because fuse was good) changed brake switch, changed all bulbs. I was having exact same problem on my 74 monte carlo, followed the wire to trunk and it had been ripped out at the harness going into the back seat wall.(recently got hydraulics installed and guy said coukdnt of been from them) smdh thanks for the vid !!!
I have a 65 chevy c10 and I just got this same issue on my passenger side. Everything works on driver side but only parking on the passenger. No turn signal or brake light on the passenger. Hopefully this video will help my situation..thanks for the upload
Hi, thanks for you video. I have a 1963 bonneville and I'm having brake light issues. Both my rear signals are working as well as the dash lights. However, my brake lights are not. I have the same type bulb as you and I replaced them just in case but to no avail. When I turn the headlights on the rear lights still work but no avail
Have a 65 Buick Riviera and can’t find out why when use my turn signals left or right they only flash hazard lights on rear and front shows correct lighting for turning? And let you know in the Buicks from 65 didn’t come with hazard lights. Any suggestions?
I have A 69 Chevy Impala / Caprice , I have Front Headlights , Front Marker Lights & Front Side Marker Lights , I have EmergencyFlashers , And Brake Lights , But No Rear Running Lights, No Rear Marker Lights , And No Front or Rear Turning Signals . What is it I have Wrong ? I had A New Turning Signal Switch replaced , New Flasher Fuse & New Turn Signal Fuse .
Does the body of the flasher relay need to be in contact with the body in order to ground? I found that my relay was not bolted in place but just floating around, and when I turn on the blinker it clicks once and stays lit.
No the Flasher does not have to be grounded they are usually connected to the car with a spring steel fastener and the Flasher has two wires which is all it needs to operate
Do you have the correct bulbs in? sometimes a wrong bulb can cause issues like if you replace a normal bulb with an LED bulb. Test voltage at the flasher relay and make sure it's within spec.
@@BustMonk yes, I double checked the bulbs and they are the right ones. I ended up using two signal relays from an early Celica and they work perfectly.
I have a 1978 Chevy G10 sport van. The right turn signal does not work. The brake light works and the headlight works. I replaced all the bulbs. Still nothing. I don’t know where the fuse box is. Can you help?
I have a '67 Olds 442 and cannot get the connector loose to change the bulb. I can't tell if it needs a twist or just pulls out. Any ideas? I don't want to force it and break the connector.
I have a 67 cadilac deville my driver side front/back blinkers work and also my driver side brake light works. But my passenger side is nothing no front/back blinker or brake light could it be the turn signal switch inside the steering wheel?
I have a similar problem on a 1979 trans am and can’t figure it out. My problem is that none of the turn signals work. here is what I’ve put together so far: - Hazard flashers, Headlights, taillights, dash gauges, and parking lights appear to function normally (all bulbs are correct) - 11.6V to turn signal flasher (pink striped black wire) when key in “on” position, 0V when key off (believe that’s normal). - Bench tested flasher and it functions (it’s also new) - removed and jumped flasher to remove that variable and voltage is still there until turn signal is up or down where voltage goes to near 0 at that junction (this has me confused…where’s it going?). - continuity checks are confusing: From flasher output (purple wire) to front driver bulb (either contact) is open with signal lever off and 0 ohms with lever down. Grounding tab at that bulb is a good ground. Both contacts are grounded with lever down (this is confusing to me, is that normal?). - with brakes pressed and brake lights on, lever down turns off left rear brake light and lever up turns off right rear brake light (believe interrupting the brake light is normal, except the light is then supposed to flash). - the battery is grounded to the engine block and core support. Engine block is grounded to the sub frame and the firewall. - the front light harness is grounded to the core support on both sides. The rear light harness is grounded in the trunk and under near the fuel fill neck. I think I’ve ruled out a bad flasher, some grounds, and bad or wrong bulbs. Anything else? Does that leave a bad ground somewhere other than what I said above and the turn signal switch?
Hi there thank you very much for the video. I have a 66 impala and have a strange issues. On the tail lights the running lights and both turn signals work fine but when the break lights go on the left work but the right don't. I walked through your suggestions in the video but cannot figure out why the break lights on the right wont work. any ideas?
so I figured this out with the help from another forum and it is so random that I thought I would post it here just incase someone is here trying to figure out the same issue. Turns out to be the turn signal lever, ya would not have thought of that.... if you wiggle the lever it will make the passenger side break lights go on - go figure. I guess the contact can get stuck and basically it shorts out the break light because the break light turns off when the signal is on (or thinks it is on)
Hello, I have a 61 Pontiac star chief it has 3 lights on each Side in the Rear . One bulb on each side, works properly. Turn signal and breaklight.which means 2 on each side wont come on at all. It's a real Head Scratcher for me. Any Advice. Would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
i had a i believe the drivers side parking/signal light wire fry up today as i drove home just prior to dusk ,it was weird i had put them on earlier drove a few miles stopped for appt and noticed them out when iand i forgot to put them out ,they were on after my appt. i drove approx 10 miles and they smoked up. i shut em off and got home wire is fried from relay by battery tray near headlight up to another relay on inner fender this is a 64 catalina vista ,im not a mechanic this car is a daily driver all year til the snow flys and hasn't been troublesome so any help is appreciated
I have a 81 Chevy k10 all lights work, but when lights are on and I hit the brake my passenger rear brake/tail goes out same as when I turn my left turn signal on.. the dimmer switch for the interior lights in the truck also dims all the rear lights when the switch is in the off position. Right turn signal also makes the left rear lights blink. I’ve dug and dug does anyone have any input on where I need to look?
Have exact same care, with exact same problem. The only difference is my front marker lights don't work either or my right turn signal indicator on dash. Do you have any ideas? Any info would help, not sure exactly where to start. It is good to see someone with the same car. Not a lot of them around.
Whats up man! Yeah, I mean I always start from the fusebox and test electrical from there... Mine was a pretty bad one as more often than not, it is just a ground on the light connector that is causing issues. Try adding another wire that you can run to another known ground to see if adding that ground gives you light. Then you will know your bulb sockets aren't grounding properly. You don't have to have the light in the socket to test that. Just pull them out, run the wire around the metal part of the plug and see if it works.
My turn signals work and brake lights work. Problem I have is, when I hit the brakes and turn right signal on, the left brake light cuts out. No issues when I use the left signal, right brake light stays on.
@@annstone6324 not yet, but! I found a person who had this issue and they had to replace the blinker switch in the steering column. I have not replaced the switch but I have it ready to swap. Let me know if you swap yours and it fixes. I will do the same. I bought mine from ecklers

I have a 79 Camaro, all lights are functional (Brakes, running, turn signals, headlights) BUT once the headlights are on, my turn signals do not work. The left doesnt work at all, and the right side stays solid. But when the headlights are off the blinkers blink perfectly fine. HELP?
Check your grounds. What is happening is when you turn on the lights and try to use other functions it can't ground the extra load. Remember there's ground straps wiring directly under the car as well battery to engine, engine to frame, and firewall, and underneath like chassis to belly.
What if everything on the rear works but not the front? On my 1972 monte, my front turn signals do not work but i have running lights. All lights and action in the rear work. Im just so confused.
That's tough... but I will say, there is a wire going to rear and another to front. so i would start at the fuse box, make sure you have power there for the front, if you do, follow the wire to where you can with a meter. It's a lot of work, sort of a pain... but it is really satisfying when you get it figured out!
I have a 65 Tbird only my left (driver) side turn signals dont work..brake and running lights work..but no front or rear blinkers..bulbs are all good..anyone have an idea of how I can fix this? Thank you gents 👌🏻😎
You should be able to follow similar steps as I did in my video. All electrical comes down to tracing it from where it starts to where it needs to be so your best bet is to simply start at the fuse box and try to follow the wire to the switch and relay to see if there is a bad switch or relay and then from there, if all is ok, track the wire to see if there are breaks in it or ground issues. also, be sure the bulbs are the correct bulbs.
