Having been on a few rides with the Rocky Growler, I can completely agree. These are an absolutely beautiful and capable entry level, hard tail ebike. I’m a much smaller rider (60kg) and even with my low mass I found it to be great with manoeuvrability and power delivery. The high nm motor provides the perfect balance of pedal engagement and hill climbing ability while not adding so much weight as to ruin the handling. Love an honest review!
Great review! I'm considering changing the fork to a 150 mm on my own growler powerplay. How did your 160 mm fork effect the handling of the bike? Any noticable difference in the slightly altered geometry?
@@dynamicmotivationweridemou2736 I see! Not that of a aggressive rider myself, but after seeing your review, a beefed up fork made sense. Really appreciate the in depth review, so thank you and well done.
I know this has been up for awhile. Just wondering how the bike is doing with the 160mm travel fork. I also have a growler powerplay 30 and blew the fork out almost right away. Not sure if I should go 150 or 160. Any thoughts, from British Columbia Canada
the 160 is fine. I spent a heap of time riding it on way harder trails than it was designed for and it coped really well. Have an altitude carbon 90 now which is awesome..
Did you notice any difference from raising the BB (+ motor) height and therefore centre of gravity when you increased fork travel? Interested if that might be more of an issue for e-bikes.
No didn't notice any negative effect. The slightly slacker head angle and much better fork made it was more stable so was an improvement over all. It may be less of an issue on an ebike as raising bottom bracket raises the rider which is the biggest part of the weight on a normal bike, the ebike gets extra stability from being heavy and having the weight low so it may be less of an issue raising the ebike..
Odd. I've been using Suntour, all my 33 years without owning a car. Never had any failure with'em on Singletrack. Not everyone is endowed to afford Fox or Rockshox. As for the Dyname motor: It sucks in humidity. Battery constantly fails & motor has response malfunctions in humidity.

I think it actually handles better with a slightly longer fork, it does increase the stability but I am used to riding slack enduro bikes..
