As a 2020 Altitude PP owner I'm very impressed with the changes and direction of RM. And a big shoutout to the hockey references that I'm not sure if others from around the world are picking up on... power play, overtime and now jumbotron 😂 Just awesome! Go Canada!!
I absolutely love my 2020. The best bike/motor on the market... Has just gotten better. Addressed a couple of the shortfalls and some great improvements. I would love to demo the new model, though it looks like stock is going to be short and prices initially very high
It's amazing, but reliability and robustness > smaller and lighter. Remember these bikes cost more than cars. We don't want them to break after only a few years.
For all those who are considering buying a RM maybe can find helpful my experience. I own a RM Powerplay 2019. A couple of months ago the bike didn't switch on, so I did a couple of checks and remote controler was working and batery look fine. So I went to my LBS and did a couple of more testing and he didn't spot the issue so he contacted the Spainsh dealer. After 7 weeks my LBS contacted me that the issue is not spoted but a new motor will work, the bike was sent to France because customer service in spain doesn't exist and the dealer does nothing to take care of the owners. So, motor replacement need despite they didn't spot the problem in the motor, more than 1k€ and at least 2 month without bike. I can not belive a suposed "premium" bike brand offering that customer service. Other than the money what is pissing me off is that nobody knows what happened with my motor, no clue what was wrong and how to about to avoid tohappen again... The motor had 4200km and max power was set at 80%. Maybe the customer service in other countries is better but at least here in EU(Spain and France) is horrible.
Rm has one of the best warranties in the industry. It seems you had to deal with a shady dealer which is unfortunate but that doesn't really fall on RM. I'm curious if you had the carbon frame? I just ordered a 2023 instinct a70 and I'm seeing that mostly carbon frames are the only ones who had electrical issues due to overheating. Which is apparently caused by the carbon frames holding in heat more than the alloys.
@@jaythomas5399 it is a pity that the spanish dealer is so pathetic but it keeps me away from RM despite I love it. Yes it is carbone frame and alloy rear trianlge. By the way I live in the mountains so not particulary hot weather
It needs 5 years for the new powerplays, long time. Great to see, that the altitude has 170/160mm travel and a Fox 38 now. Will a Instinct BC Edition planned as well?
I had a Rocky Mtn Altitude 4.0 . It required a lot more rider energy than a Brose, Bosch or Yamaha to get the most out of it. The biggest drawback was the battery charging system overcharged the battery and the battery exploded and burned everything in my garage to ashes. Rocky Mountain seemed to want to help, but in the end they just wanted to get the burned bike out of my possession and pretend it never happened. Two separate professional fire cause investigators said the Rocky Mountain bike was the cause of the fire. I feel a duty to warn potential buyers of the very real danger of keeping a Rocky Mountain bike indoors. The damage to my home and property is over 350k, and I am lucky to be alive. Don't take the risk with a Rocky Mountain E-MTB. It is not worth it.
Hay ken !!!! I bought one of these dam power plays !!!! I’m 52 and we’ll - I love it!!!! Omg - what a dream - it’s like being a kid again !!!! Awesome!!!
That torque should help me get up hills! Might just have to buy this. Would be interesting to see what you could develop someday for amputees. I’m not able to stand and ride. My prosthetic leg just coast along unfortunately.
I am on the fence on this. I want to believe. Looking at the Instinct or Altitude A50. LOVE Rocky bikes. Have heard bad thongs though about the motor. Error codes and torque sensor resets..... HELP ME! 😂
The bike doesn’t like it when you are sitting still with your foot on the pedals. It sees a desired load, but no motion from the speed sensor and sets a code. You can adjust the amount of force necessary to initiate a drive impulse. that may help. Otherwise, if you aren’t moving foreward, just keep both feet on the ground until you are ready to go.
Considering its weight, it is an open motor system like a fool. Damn long chain length, chain and drive life, three idlers to replace...That's also a special standard I mean, don't make a bike out of the mindless idiots of maintenance. Trunion rear-shock on a four-bar link and just use shimano motor. The problem is not torque, it's weight, stupid.
This sounds like a really terrific bike . too bad you can't get in on the European Market . i'm guessing the bike would sell very well here . i have the NOX (austrian bike) with the newer Sachs motor 112 Nm made in germany . it's a beast on hills and destroys my bosch cx .
I’d like to see a comparison of Bosch vs dyname 4.0 in the snow. My 2023 altitude feels immortal in any conditions. It goes up steep hills in the snow!
In the era of light bikes like Orbea Rise, how does it stand weight-wise? I have a previous model. It is pretty heavy. More lightweight bikes makes a big difference.
with the current deal going on right now, im praying i can get my hands on one, we have a couple of these bikes at work and they are so fun !! Called my boss last week to get the rep to bring one for me, lets hope it happens! Love your bikes guys and always enjoy having your rep over for some chats.
Question. What if my battery dies in 5 years. It's your proprietary battery. If Rocky won't be making them in 5 years does that mean that my bike will be junk?
@@jesseklooster8175 with Bosch you have at least 10 year window when you can just buy a new battery. I don't want to rebuild it. I would like to have an official solution.
Hello Is there a specific reason why the dyname 4.0 recharge is applied by putting the connector to the battery first and then the plug to the mains? it's the opposite of the old 3.0!!!
This bike is one of the most interesting on the market I appreciate the way RM keep standing on "his way to do" on ebike matter nice job and keep going 🙂
Im not professional, but how many bikers can output 250w power to the pedals constantly? Specs show that the engine can actually output 700w spike power. And its meant only to assist but 340-360% max assist level means that max power can be output by relatively easy effort. By the way, its meant only to assist. If you want electric motorcycle look for something else.
@@viljosavolainen2286 thank you for the information it was very helpful, it makes very good sense what you said, and easy to understand. Kindest regards Don
I took the rm a50 and I'm happy. The only thing I relied on and heard from the web was the 108nm motor being the most powerful. I had a trek rail 5 625w with 85 nm bosch and with the turbo it was more explosive and copious than the 4.0 dyname. I did a "recovery" with a friend of mine who has the bosch in turbo and I in ludicrous and we were even though my leg was more trained than his. What do you think about it? I calibrate the bike every outgoing and boost +2

Nice. But way-too-costly. E-bikes were marketed as being affordable & efficient. They're neither. Knock-down the motor weight to two pounds and the same for battery weight, with a battery that can be charged while pedaling, and I may consider taking-out a mortgage to buy one.

It seems nobody makes so far reliable motors. You buy new, spend a fortune, and you shoud sell before warranty expires. And loose a lot.

Interesting design having the motor drive the chain via a sprocket above the crankset....clever!
They’ve done it like that since the start of emtbs in 2016.

In the era of light bikes like Orbea Rise, how does it stand weight-wise? I have a previous model. It is pretty heavy. More lightweight bikes makes a big difference.
The orbea is light as it’s got a small motor and small battery, so will logically be lighter.
With a full powered 720Wh enduro bike you don‘t need to ask for weight - hard to come under 24kg.
This looks epic!

I like that the engine position allows a battery removal design that doesn’t compromise stiffness. The benefit when you can make your own drivetrain

The motor dies earlier, so you're covered
