Great review, Rocky is great about doing warranties. I got my GF the new A70 Instinct powerplay and we had a bad battery issue, they replaced it right away no questions asked. Side note, for the Alloy models be careful sliding in and out the battery as all the wires and cables sit right above it and can get pinched if not careful, I’m talking from experience. The bike rides amazing, very planted and poweful. Also nice riding clips of Simi Valley.
@@uosocal what else are you looking at bud? I know you do a lot of research so curious as to which bikes you're considering as I'm in the market as well.
@@marklopez5267 I would get a Decoy tomorrow if they had bigger batteries. Top 3 are: Rocky Altitude, Norco Range, and maybe the new Reign e. If I was rich, I'd get the Yeti.
@@uosocal hard not to like the Decoy but there are way too many on the SoCal trails already haha I like all the options you listed, especially the new Reign! The new Canyon Spectral On is one that I'm interested in as well. Guess it'll really come down to what we can actually get our hands on haha
Generally a lower watt charger will help with the life of the battery, the trade off is a slower charge time. Higher watt, faster charge times, but the battery life is impacted more. As these are so new we do not have a good idea on time, as the real effects will be 2.5 to 3 years later. Still I love my current RMPP and cannot wait to get my hands on the new model. In your discussions with RM, has there been any talk about a mullet option? In your discussions
To me this ebikes got the more regular bike riding feeling without be a lightweigh. They are a bit love or hate stuff. I love them no other ebike for me …
Half decent warranty's help one appreciate the cost of eMTB's as dirt bikes have a few months, even dualsports typically a year. Also the battery is like investing in fuel for manys years as it's literally pennies to charge. Can hardly wait till they finally show up at my shop.
I was between this bike, new giant reign and the gen 3 levo. If I had more fast technical terrain I probably would have got the RM but my trails are more flowy so I went with the levo
It doesn't matter like that in ebikes. The motor makes power delivery stable so the suspension isn't a problem like it is on a normal bike. Pretty sure BB height is higher on the rocky mountain.
I have a 2019 model of the Altitude Ebike. I find its assist to be snappy and take less effort than the 2022 Santacruz Heckler I just demoed. The Heckler was ok but it only has 85nm of torque. The RM is pushing 108nm which is a lot more. My RM climbs almost anything. It was my first Ebike so perhaps I just have not ridden enough on other bikes. Looking for another RM in large The RM comes with a fox 38 too.
I ordered an altitude powerplay c90 but I won’t receive until June… I was hesitating between a turbo Levo pro and the c90, I saw you made a long term review for both! Witch one would you recommend, I ride a Santa Cruz Megatower 2020 as my normal bike and I love it. I’m looking for the same feel!
Those are both awesome bikes, but the Levo is less travel than the Rocky and if you're looking for a more enduro-ey feel and security for big hits, DH and drops, the extra travel is appreciated. BUT, make no mistake, the Levo rules.
I mostly ride at my local mountain, I climb a quite easy trail and I go down were people chairlift for downhill, i mostly like flowy trails. I just want a bike that will take me up the fastest and I can have fun going down! Thanks for your answer I really appreciate!

It's strange that this bike has so much torque but you have to put more into it. It doesn't seem to make sense so I believe I would just have to ride it to know how it feels. I love the bosch turbo when things are flowy and steep but it's almost useless in the technical stuff whereas this sounds more useful. How would you compare it to the feel of a brose motor in like a levo which is also a more natural assist ?
its not as bad as he makes it sound. I tried both motors and i rather use the rocky mountain, it has more of a natural bike feel, less of a e bike feel, and the pedaling is really nice. Its a real fun bike, puts a smile on my face.
You are contradicting yourself. You say: It has a lot of power but you need to work harder than Shimano or Bosh, Hmm? Will take Bosh over Dyname any day. It is much better motor for climbing steep slopes, as you said you don't have to work so hard with EP8 or Bosh! Moreover, motor overrun is a godsend when you need to start going on a steep slope. To add insult to injury the bike has very short chain stay, By laws of dynamics, this bike is not as good a climber as Norco Sight. Also, it has high standover height, which makes it harder to mount/dismount bike when on a steep single track downhill.
There was an issue with the torque sensor that failed, resulting in a motor replacement. We replaced the motor without issue and have had 3 other Rockies since that have held up great.

Most consistent motor engagement I've ridden so far

I wonder if just a torque sensor instead of many magnets in the rear wheel will improve the power feeling.
Nice bike any ways
How does Ludicrus in +2 compare with a 2022 Levo in 100% with 100% uplift and pedal response? Is it going to feel underwhelming?

Hello between the Rocky Mountain vs the trek rail 9.8 which would you buy? Or any other ebike that you tested - thanks you
Have they solved the whole torque sensor reset problems?

Great review. Sounds like changing out to 160mm crank arms would be a bonus. What Ride-4 position did you test in? 2 or 3? Thanks
For sure we’d put shorter cranks on.
Would love a comparison of this bike and it's little brother the Instinct 🙏

What trails system did you test the bike. Some of the video clips show different terrains.
We rode quite a bit in Bend Oregon as well as Simi Valley, CA.
@@TheLoamWolf gotcha... The Simi Valley stuff looked familiar.
And Baker Creek it seems
Is that Simi Valley ?
It sure is.
How big is a "pretty large drop"?
About 12 vertical feet with a 15 foot gap… it’s all relative we know, but figure that’s a pretty reasonable size to say it’s somewhat big.

Thanks for watching!
No mention of motor noise up and downhill… 🤷♂️
They're pretty quiet going up, comparable to all the other motors. Coming down they're pretty much silent 🙂
Guess we didn't mention it because it's pretty quiet and we don't think of it much...
