    I updated my Shuttle LT and set the overrun in the middle and turned boost all the way up and holy shit man, whole different bike. Delivers more power in all 3 modes but boost is so fast. All 3 modes delivery more power at a lower cadence so less downshifts to stay on the power. I’ve never rode a Bosch race motor, but I don’t see needing more power than this puts down unless racing. Can’t wait for the incoming comparison vids to see what’s what

    I really enjoy the feel of the EP801 - I mostly find myself in trail mode and like the motor's natural feel.

  • @jayjavi00
    @jayjavi00 5 дней назад +13

    Why did shimano just give up on the ep800. 2 year old motor is already obsolete 😢

    • @TAZMON20
      @TAZMON20 4 дня назад +2

      If it's still pushing your bike then it's not obsolete, updates will still be available, the EP801 was essentially developed with Di2 in mind to utilise free-shift etc but how many of us use that, the EP801 will again be updated which doesn't make the current model obsolete, companies constantly develop their platforms and systems otherwise they would stand still, the real point however is how much of their developments are relevant to you, your ability, riding style and budget, you can wish for every development and power assist you want but if you can't use it correctly then it's pointless.

    I love my Heckler8 with EP8. But I really have a sour taste with Shimano. Completely alienating people with 1yr old EP8’s. I get not offering power updates for an older motor. But give us EP8 owners SOMETHING. I’d be happy if they gave us overrun.

      My heckler with EP8 is 6 months old and has about 500 miles. The motor started giving out errors and now it's been at the dealer for over a month. The problem they say is with the connector between the Darfon battery and the motor. Shimano dealer is taking forever to sort out warranty. I love the Heckler and how it rides but Shimano for me has turned out bad sadly. I doubt replaced connector will last long...

      for sure. We have 2 Hecklers. the 2024 Heckler with EP801 and latest firmware update is a completely different ( better) bike than the 2022 Heckler with EP800. It’s very noticeable.

    I have the cable and updated my Pivot Shuttle with the 801 myself about a month ago. the boost slider has 2 notches it can raise from stock and it is a massive difference in feel in my opinion. i put the overrun to max, but i only put the top speed cutoff at the middle of the 3 settings. it feels pretty good though. it's like one MPH higher and still cuts off naturally. i haven't tried the speed cutoff at max. i was afraid it would be like hitting the top speed limiter on your car which is super unnatural. lol. i didn't buy the computer link cable just for this update, it's a little expensive to buy just for that. i had it so i can charge the start button battery every once in a while during the winter months when i don't ride the bike as much.

    Ep8 on a norco range. I absolutely love that thing. I would 100% get another Shimano motor. We have a bosch in the house too and im not that fussed with it. I find the rattle on the bosch a deal breaker personally. Latest gen looks better obviously.

    Little late on this one, I had this update 5 months ago when the guys from the UK first reported on it. Back then you needed the dealership device but now it can all be done on the APP. The increased overrun is the most noticeable. Bike will do wheelies now if you hit it to hard.

    I’m seeing lots of people with the ep801RS motor who have done the firmware and who’s local shop contacts shimano to have the motor unlocked to full 85nm. (Orbea rise)
    But this isn’t something all shops or all shimano reps are allowing to be done
    Can shimano weigh in on this? Some people are getting it done by shimano (when shimano remote accesses the bike shop’s system and the bike etc) but other times shimano reps are telling the bike shops no, we can’t do that.
    Please can someone clear the dust on this?

    If Yeti or Shimano would support existing EP8 owners by offering an EP801 upgrade kit (motor, battery, switches, display, wiring kit) I'd gladly purchase it. Otherwise I'll ride this EP8 into the ground and likely never buy another Shimano motor ebike ever again. Bummed that they released the EP8 less than 6 months after my purchase and basically none of the existing parts are forward compatible

They all 3 suffered from the same problem. E-914. After that many problems i sent the bike back to Propain for a refund. Horrible Experience all together. Every ride I was worried I would be pushing my bike out of the woods.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  18 часов назад

      Yeah, from that end we wouldn't be too surprised. We've always posed the question, imagine you are someone wanting to get into mountain biking, you walk into a shop and someone shows you a $6,000-7,000 mountain bike, or heck, even a $4,500 mountain bike. Then someone shows them an eMTB for the same price. A person would likely ask, well, what's the difference? This one weighs 20lbs more but has a motor and battery and will let you ride twice as far and get way more miles in....for roughly the same price. What person who isn't already a masochistic rider and enjoys the reward of climbing wouldn't choose the eMTB? haha.

    Shimano are hopeless. I can’t get my EP8 serviced. I have to ride it until it breaks and then buy a new one from the U.K. distributor (not mentioned as it’s not their fault). So, this plan not to add the firmware update to the EP8 is entirely consistent with the premium charged for a new EP801 when your old EP8 (which you are not allowed to service, nor can it be serviced) claps out simply because you can’t service it (you know, lubrication and beating replacement, that stuff is banned - it won’t work as it must be recalibrated after any fiddling…).😢
