Just bought the 2025 in this package. Phenomenal car. All reviews con the fuel economy and back seat but who’s really buying a smaller sports sedan with a v6 and twin turbos for great fuel efficiency and spacious back seats?
Stinger owner here as well. While the Genesis does look classier, I personally like the sportier and more aggressive look of the Stinger overall. When I was looking to purchase my next car, I narrowed it down between these two. The two deciding factors for me were 1. Usability -- coming from an IS 350, the G70 was a similar car, which meant more limited usability and a back seat that was not meant for average-sized adults. The Stinger has a back seat that can comfortably seat an average-sized adult. It's also a hatchback, so it's magnitudes better at transporting stuff. 2. Price - I got a deal on my Stinger that was way too good to pass up. The useability factor on the Stinger can't be downplayed. As my only vehicle, it has been an amazing all-around vehicle. Fast and sporty enough to have a lot of fun in, but practical as hell -- I recently purchased a 65" TV and was able to haul it back home in the Stinger, box and all (it was a really tight fit, but I was able to do it). It's came in clutch for me a bunch of other times as well hauling stuff that I would either 1. not be able to haul at all with a regular sedan or 2. would have to take multiple trips in a regular sedan where the Stinger did it in one trip. There really aren't many options out there anymore for something that is truly sporty but also has a lot of utility and isn't an SUV or crossover.

Just purchase a G70 and really love it…….traded in my Infinity q 50 3.7 liter engine. It was a beast and I adored that car as well . Stiffer sport handling but really fun to drive. Had a transmission replaced at 82,000 miles though, thank goodness covered under warranty. Genesis brands seem to have less issues. I did purchase an extended warranty though as I bought used. 🤷♀️
That slight minor gap difference, along the front driver's side fender, is a bit odd. Yes, that comment was extremely "nit picky", I admit. Another "nit picky" comment is that I don't like "augmented engine sounds". Why do they do that? If it isn't actually the engine making that sound, then it is a lie.
I wouldn't necessarily say a lot cheaper. This car as tested, he states a price of $55,600. To get roughly the same hp in a 3 Series, that would be the M340 at 382hp. That starts at $57,600. $2k isn't that much. Now, the options one would add to the BMW is where you incur a higher difference since the Germans like to nickle and dime you for everything. Even the base price of the 3.3 rwd G70 is $50k, so $7k still isn't "a lot" relative to these prices. Basically, these cars are identical, and I would argue it is as good (perhaps a bit better) than the 3. So it comes down to if you want to pay the extra 14% for the BMW name or not. If that matters to someone, and they need to be seen in one for their ego, then BMW it is. If not and they're more rational, then Genesis is definitely the answer.
It's annoying in the US they still didn't go with the all-digital driver's display like in other markets. I know some people like the physical tach, but for me either both the speedo and tach should be physical, or make the display all-digital.
Well, to be fair, this is the only car in the original Genesis lineup that has yet to be fully redesigned. It's still a beautiful car, but the G80 and G90 have both been fully redesigned with new platforms and new powertrains. The G70 has only ever been facelifted, and it's starting to show its age.
Maybe the 2026 will bring us some new much needed updates like full digital cluster and AMBIENT LIGHTING. Also they need to give us a Magma G70 or some better exhaust options
The place German cars rule is in making the styling classic understated. The G70 has much going for it but the front grill is too large and ghetto looking and usually the wheels are the same. The red interior is ok if it is one of several but a grey or black would be much better for most people. And for a twin turbo I would want the long warranty or a lease as you are looking at expensive repairs somewhere down the line. And the mileage seems pretty poor but maybe not so bad if you can get something like the hwy mileage. People should refuse to pay a premium to any car company for paint colors like a white or silver.....nothing but profit enhancement on an already expensive car. Maybe extra cost for some totally unique paint but not just another basically standard color.
I love mines its a 23 sport prestige but the rwd the best driving one i love drifting it n lauching is soo fun i got it up too 165 mph n she took it well so underrated ❤
You have to be somewhat foolish to buy a car in this class. I should know as I just bought a new S5 Sportback. You simply have to decide how much money you are willing to burn to get a premium sport sedan. Yes, the S5 cost me more than a G70 or TLX Type-S. However, between Audi (and Costco!) rebates, along with a dealer who treated me fairly, the price difference wasn't that significant.
Thanks! That is what it really came down to. The BMW M340i is faster. The IS350 and IS500 will almost certainly be more reliable. But the S5 had the combination of sport, luxury, looks, and ergonomics (HVAC knobs - what a novel idea) that made me smile the most. I'm older, so I needed to buy this while I can still enjoy it.
Love my 2019 sport prestige. Don't know if or what I would ever switch for. Great fun, and on the road for distance driving, still can get close to 30 mpg.
Anyone have experience with turbo lag in the 3.3t engine? Is it really slow? I test drove a 2023 3.3T Prestige in AWD and was a little surprised by some of the turbo lag I experienced. Not sure if it is a normal experience for everyone else?
Does anyone know what the boost pressure of the turbos are? This video said 13 PSI but automobile catalogue website says 21 PSI. 13 PSI makes sense to me. For a 3.3L engine with two turbos, the torque output is the lowest among all equivalent engine sizes. But the maximum torque is also at the lowest revs of any equivalent engine (1350 rpm). To me both those factors suggest a lower boost than other turbo six cylinder engines.
FYI, Genesis do not build boost on launch. To feel the full potential you would need to disable the brake lights by pulling the fuse. Then you'll get what the potential of this car really is.
As an Audi owner & fan, I still have to correct you Sofyan for over-estimating the performance of an S4 😅. It is not quicker than 4.3s 0-60, it's right in that range if you launch it right. If you don't launch it, you're looking at well over 5s.
I use to have the 2018 q59 RS it was a lease , now I am leasing a 23 BMW x3M40. That q50 was fast but so dated. 0-60 4.5 sec comparing to this genesis , but man I love my BMW 0-60 in 4.1 sec. It’s fast for what it is
@@SlimeZ33 to be honest, I had a lot of issues with my 2018 q50RS and I had a 2017 q60 rs. My infinit stayed in the shop. I had zero issues with my BMW. My BMW is more reliable than the Infiniti all my cars have been brand new modified from the factory . I never owned a used car. Bmw has never put a dent my pockets. It is what it is
@@SlimeZ33 what dealership do you work at?Are used to have a 2014 Q50 sport hybrid I didn’t have any issues with that because it didn’t have the turbo engine. But I only had it for a year and I got rid of it. And I called cap on “Bmw lives “ there because modern BMWs are very reliable.
Wouldn't the Cadillac CT4-V also compete with this? Similar size and price, I think the CT4 might be a grand or two less expensive than this but it's turbo 4cyl-only and a little slower, although still somewhere in the 4 second 0-60 range - Surprised it wasn't compared.
Pretty much all of this car's competitors are less than .1-.7 seconds in either direction. Lexus is500 does it in 4.4, tlx type s in 4.7, ct4-v in 4.8, m340i in 3.8 Its surprisingly close.
I feel that the grey exterior color looks more white on camera versus seeing it in person. Genesis maybe the new luxury manufacturer on the block but the old school German or Japanese luxury brand will be in the people shopping list first.
For me the big issue with the G70 was they never changed that friggin half-analog dash nonsense. Every single other model gets the full digital cluster, but they continued to cheap out on the G70.
For this car to ever make perfect sense to buy, the price tag needs to be $30,000 us or around $45-50,000 cad It makes alot more sense to buy a Lexus or bmw in the $50- $55, 000 price range

At that price, its somewhat reasonable, but you do get what you pay for. Tech is getting somewhat old, but still perfectly fine. That rear seat space though. No bueno, bro. Way to small. They really need to increase the wheelbase a tad. I dont why this class struggles in this area. Personally, id pay a little more to buy an acura tlx type S, or a lexus is500. Both are barley slower, if at all, features similar levels of tech, and (in the case of the tlx) have much more room in the back. Still, solid vehicle by Genesis. Any Hyundai Kia and Genesis brand I stay away from because of the engine problems and hearing that they could spontaneously combust. Plus the fact that Kia and Hyundai still haven't really did anything to fix those.
The RWD version has so much grip that the AWD version doesn’t launch faster and the RWD handles better than the AWD version. The reviewer didn’t turn off the stability control which is why he couldn’t engage launch control (simple video here ruclips.net/video/aVgpVHkGfmc/видео.htmlsi=O5hW9f1gSzMw0zLG and that might have cut 0.1 or so off the 0-60. Surprised he didn’t like the updated styling - it’s a lot cleaner than the 2019-2021 and more in line with Genesis’ design language. This car is nicely tuned to be playful but easily controlled. If you don’t want the artificial engine sound, it is easily reduced or turned off completely. I wish more manufacturers gave us this choice, so I say thank you Genesis for that option. Don’t get the AWD if you don’t need it. It adds weight, makes the front a little less responsive, and doesn’t help gas mileage.
Its amusing how so many are skeptical of Genesis. Yet, BMW or Mercedes are historically habitual money pits but still enjoy praise. 🤔

Have been to one ??
Such a good-looking sport sedan!
Love my Stinger. If it ever got totaled, I would buy this with that exact color combo.
I love the G70 styling but I do want more space. May have to go for the G80
Yeah as someone who drove older g80 and new g70 the g80 better
this always had nice proportions but i prefer the pre face lift styling more. it looked more sporty
Love this car !!! and I’m Lexus lover…
And how exactly is the 4.3 sec to 60 behind an s4/s5 when you tested them at 4.3 sec to 60, just like the G70 RWD.
Unconcious bias
@@fale892 the only explanation, Sofyan is very biased
Maybe the 2026 will bring us some new much needed updates like full digital cluster and AMBIENT LIGHTING. Also they need to give us a Magma G70 or some better exhaust options
I love sedan's..sad to see so many companies not selling them anymore..This in a wagon would be perfect.
I want one so badly❤😊
😳 *I've been waiting so long for this review!* 💪😤👍
Ghetto looking ?? really ?? SMH

If the car puts a smile on your face, it's not foolish at all. Enjoy the ride!
4.3 sec is very respectable. 👍
Anyone have experience with turbo lag in the 3.3t engine? Is it really slow?
I test drove a 2023 3.3T Prestige in AWD and was a little surprised by some of the turbo lag I experienced. Not sure if it is a normal experience for everyone else?
I literally just bought one of these today, but the AWD one
Does anyone know what the boost pressure of the turbos are? This video said 13 PSI but automobile catalogue website says 21 PSI.
13 PSI makes sense to me. For a 3.3L engine with two turbos, the torque output is the lowest among all equivalent engine sizes. But the maximum torque is also at the lowest revs of any equivalent engine (1350 rpm). To me both those factors suggest a lower boost than other turbo six cylinder engines.
This car rides better than any Lexus.
Audis are fucking plain boring ass designed vehicles

Can't forget the Infiniti Q50 RedSport still exists as well in 2024!! might be dated, but still pushing 400HP 💪
I use to have the 2018 q59 RS it was a lease , now I am leasing a 23 BMW x3M40. That q50 was fast but so dated. 0-60 4.5 sec comparing to this genesis , but man I love my BMW 0-60 in 4.1 sec. It’s fast for what it is
@Mr.Lambert777 my Q50 has been bulletproof reliable and maintenance costs don't clear my bank account lol...don't know of I can say the same about BMW

Do you know if the g70 is getting a redesign for 2025 or 2026
Seriously good car !
How long will this be at the dealer
Great video!
Lexus is500 does it in 4.4, tlx type s in 4.7, ct4-v in 4.8, m340i in 3.8

Car would be ten times better if they did one thing.... Make it a coupe
For me the big issue with the G70 was they never changed that friggin half-analog dash nonsense. Every single other model gets the full digital cluster, but they continued to cheap out on the G70.
well, owning a G, it's really not a concern. With the H.U.D, I practically never look at the cluster unless a warning shows up.
Just a heads up. This version (although only AWD) in Canada has a full digital dash.
4.3…wow.
is it true the lexicon audio system doesnt sound that great?
It sounds great.... especially with Sirius XM

You were told wrong
For this car to ever make perfect sense to buy, the price tag needs to be $30,000 us or around $45-50,000 cad
It makes alot more sense to buy a Lexus or bmw in the $50- $55, 000 price range

Perfectly beautiful and sexy looking well equipped Sport Luxurious vehicle 🚗
At that price, its somewhat reasonable, but you do get what you pay for. Tech is getting somewhat old, but still perfectly fine.
That rear seat space though. No bueno, bro. Way to small. They really need to increase the wheelbase a tad. I dont why this class struggles in this area.
Personally, id pay a little more to buy an acura tlx type S, or a lexus is500. Both are barley slower, if at all, features similar levels of tech, and (in the case of the tlx) have much more room in the back.
Still, solid vehicle by Genesis. Its a huge shame theyre allegedly discontinuing it after this year.
'' much more room in the back '' ???? Types back seats legroom: 34,5'' IS: 32,2''. ... G70 : 34,8.....and not discontinued after this year. You need to research a little more instead of embarrassing yourself... SMH
That’s a pretty fancy name for a “White” color car
I was going to get a used 2019 g70 2 years ago but when I went to look at it, seeing the back seats was a huge turn off even as beautiful as the car is.
I have 2 under 2 no way imma be able to put 2 car seats and sit comfortably up front lol
Got a 22 accord instead, crazy rear legroom
@ 3:00 the driver hood panel has a bigger gap then the passenger hood panel but other than that the car is nice!
Seating position is crazy in these things you can sit on the floor if you want.
The Backseat space is always a deal breaker for me. I really, want to love it but the back seat man!
Same for me at 6’3. Even my sister who is 5’5 wasn’t able to sit back there even with my seat pushed all the way up to the steering wheel lol.
Then buy a large sedan 🤦♂️
Any Hyundai Kia and Genesis brand I stay away from because of the engine problems and hearing that they could spontaneously combust. Plus the fact that Kia and Hyundai still haven't really did anything to fix those.
You watched this video just to say that 😂
AMBIENT LIGHTING 😭😭😭😭
Too bad that RWD is not an option where I live.
Where I live, AWD is a must ... It's a tank in the snow......
