Loving your vids James. Unlike most other channels you’re actually a true commercial photographer showing real world on the job shoots, which is amazing. I shoot mostly products and fitness so I can relate more to these vids than those other typical portraiture channels.
Great video! I'm subscribed since I watched one of your videos for the first time. Yes I would like to see more videos like this. I too own the Canon R5 and I'm still trying to get used to it. Coming from a Canon 1DX in which I still use and will keep as my backup second shooter for now. Thanks for the video.
Awesome bts footage. Thank you. Love the creative use of the lights and environment. I just used my R5 for a “real” gig at a shoot with a rowing team yesterday. I’ve never done rowing before, but the R5 did the hard part of keeping the athletes in focus while I composed the shots. Omg the camera is a beast! The only missed shots were when the sun gave me too much glare and that’s my fault. (For outdoors I only use one main light and the sun as a backlight) Thanks again for sharing how you do you.
Good Stuff Mr. Quartz. Always a good day when you see skill and knowledge of the craft come together. I Find it funny when people asking what or how to do stuff with much less. It is called learning the craft people. This is a youtube channel to follow.
My R5 arrives today! Looking forward to putting it through its paces. Now I need to find a way to break into sports portraits too. Your shots are great, and I appreciate your videos.
Thanks for the reminder, just subscribed! First saw your video 7 years ago w/ Clowney and I'm so glad that I found you again. Great content, inspires me to keep shooting and reach out to local High Schools to photograph their sports teams.
Great BTS video yet again! Love seeing your lighting setups. Also getting a lot more confident in front of the camera! Look forward to your next video!
I just purchased my r5, (swapped my Canon 90D)- I am not a pro. I shoot my high school son’s sports. Love the content, because of you I have started shooting some Social media content for his teams. Inspired sir! Thank you for taking the time to share your day to day. I counted six profoto lights if I’m wrong. Would you be able to show us one day how achievable it would be to create something with half that amount of lights. Would love to get into more of this type of photography.
@@QuantzPhoto I agree. Your results are spectacular and very inspiring. I really appreciate you showing us your working life. I have some gear, some athletes and plenty of enthusiasm but I am limited by bad yellow/pale wooden gym spaces and less access to set up multiple lights. Gyms are booked constantly and I usually get an hour to run through like half a team at a time. Its manic, thank you for the run sheet tip that's very useful. I love seeing that you used an access tunnel and nice clean wall, but we don't have such a space. I would love to see you problem solve some of these issues with a quick say 2/3 light set up and horrible backgrounds. ( the striped v flat boards you used is a great idea I will keep in mind- not to copy but to provide an artificial background I could use). Many thanks again. You are amazing.

@@QuantzPhoto Hi James, I am a Nikon shooter, but seeing what you get out of the R5 gets me thinking... Beautiful shots and thanks for giving us a look behind the scenes!
Hi, i was wondering how much you charge for a shoot like that. thanks
Two questions...
1. Are you shooting Mechnical or Electronic shutter?
2. How tall are your light stands with the 7ft umbrellas?
Yes, mechanical and I use several different heights based off what/who I'm photographing!
Other than the beauty dish do you use a fill light?

Hey A D, as far as I know it can’t overheat and prevent you from taking photos. It will get warm if you leave it on for an extended period of time.
