This is so so good. The lightbulb totally went off in my head. The curves to darken / hide the field is genius. Would love to hear you talk about the backend of photography such as how you estimate, invoice and run your company. Thanks for the time you put into this. I’ve already learned so much 🙌🏼🙏🏼
@@QuantzPhoto Just finished it up, it was great as always! So glad you decided to share our wealth of knowledge with us here on RUclips. I seen the video you posted photographing the SC football team from 7 years ago, and it never left my memory. I run a volume sports studio and would like to transition to commercial work in the near future. Thanks again!
It is so great to see a tutorial for a real image from start to finish. I would love to see something even more detailed with a full retouch and would be willing to pay for it.
Hi James! Just curious if you show the client all the raw images and they choose which ones they want retouched, or if you retouch a small batch and deliver those for style approval.
Any chance we could see a lighting demo for this kind of shoot? I hear some people saying high speed sync, but notice you were shooting at 1/200. Just curious at the reasoning for choices, and learning what to do when.
Great insight on how you get to your final image. I wish I could streamline my editing process for my sport portraits, but I always end up with a ton of layers. Great job! Huge fan of your work. Wish the Dallas Cowboys would bring you in to do their images. Not happy with this years look.
Quick question about your selection of the athletes for the composite images. You made a black layer and then a layer mask to bring them back, for that part were you just damn careful with your brush to get such a precise selection around them? Thanks!
Hey Dennis, I'm not sure I follow....maybe it's the layer mask that is black around the selection you're referencing? And yes I'll usually check it with a brush.
@@QuantzPhoto sorry, i can clarify! At 13:30, when you drop the new background behind the athlete, you show your mask layer. Your selection around the athlete is so precise when you drop the background. I’m just curious if that was just all brush work for the mask. Or if there was another way you selected him so perfectly.
Love that VFLAT! Did you make it yourself? Or you bought it? Any details on it would be great. We wanna something like it for our NOVEMBER 1st shoot. Thx!!
Hey James, I've been a fan of your work for a while and enjoy following along on Instagram. I just recently found your RUclips channel and have been catching up on your videos. I was wondering what you used for the smoke effect on this shoot? Did you actually have a smoke machine on set or is the smoke added in post? Thanks!
This deserves 5 million views, not 5k. Good to see photographer's helping others out, rather than gatekeeping!
Thanks Genesis!

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I would be interested in how you deliver the final images to the client. Size, resolution, drop box, etc.....

Hey Chase, check out my bts video from the shoot and see if it answers some of your questions. If not, I can try to expand on things in the future...
A lot of great tips!
Thank you, Sir!!

Hey Chris, that's a product called "atmosphere aerosol" - I'm pretty sure I have it linked in one of my videos! Can't remember which tho! 😂
How you cut out subjects would be useful. Great work as always.
Noted! Thanks, John!
Which RF lens are you using?
24-70 2.8 usually but I was using the Nikon D850 in that shoot!
Thank you so much for these videos!! You should teach classes if you don't already!
Thanks, Em!
