I’m 45 and I’m a white guy that lives in the mountains of East Tennessee but I lived in many places as a kid growing up, Fayetteville North Carolina in the early 80’s till 85 when I was 7, then Raleigh for a year then on to live with my Dad in DC. Ended up back in the country for jr high and high school in Bristol VA. I said all that to say this. All of us who grew up back then were probably affected by in some type of way by drugs, like you saying that song was inspired by B.B on PCP. I think about now with how Fentanyl is killing so many people and I think about how many people that are my age that grew up with drugs around and can only imagine how many great people would’ve never made it to become singers, actors, rappers, athletes and well pretty much any other profession if that deadly crap was around back then. They didn't just do a remix in a different genre. They put STANK on it. Turned hard-core O.G. rap into a work of art. Not rapping but singing the vocals. Throwing down the organ solo that beckons the call of the reefer smoke till its funk fills the room. At least...that's what happened here. This was done deliberately with diabolical intention, talent, and professionalism on a high level. Not corporate musicians churning out trending short ordered topics while their hot on demand to make a buck. Artists.

Ive seen many studio musicians and even rock stars that will whip up songs that are carbon copies of whats hot in a pinch desperate to stay relevant or to maintain good status with their labels that pressure them to churn out music in stacks. This was much more than that. Creativity, inspiration, and art don't come out of a tap. The group was paying homage to an icon. I love old school music of all kinds, the Ghetto Boys and Scarface are truly in my list of top favorite artists and of all the songs they’ve cultivated, this has been and always will be one of my most listened to. Y’alls cover of the song is a true masterpiece from the instrumental to the vocals and I genuinely appreciate y’all for appreciating real music and creating such exquisite sounds. I dont know why.. but I had to give it a listen and grateful I did because it made today better and reminded me that sometimes things not fully understood will come along and the curiosity and surprise of when those random moments of joy might happen was what I needed to allow myself to believe that Ive been through it, and I can do it again, as many times as i have to if it means eventually Ill find what I hope exists and what I'm looking for - peace.
