Easily one of the greatest rap songs ever, at least to me. It was so different when it came out with its laid back style and conversational tone talking about the demons that are bouncing around your mind at times. RIP Bushwick Bill.
Love the geto boys. Mind of a lunatic is a crazy song. I was listening to them in 7th grade and my mom took all my geto boys tapes cause they are insane. They make Eminem look like a singer for children’s songs. But y dad ended up giving me my tapes back.
My dad found my walkman with Geto Boys in it. He listened to it. It was 35 years ago but I remember his exact words. He said “There’s a lot of good commentary on societal ills. But most of this is just fucking sick.” 😂. Like WHAT Dad? Them raping and cutting up the teacher? Robbing the bank? Slangin cane? 😂😂
I've never been a hardcore rap fan but growing up in Houston in the 1980's I can tell you that this is absolutely a masterpiece. Once you hear it, it will be in your head forever.
This song is a masterpiece. It is relatable to everyone on every level. I knew this song since I was 10 years old and it's been my favorite rap song of all time
I remember my brother played this song in his new car over and over and over so I just was with the shitz now that he passed away it popped up and I just locked it in. Smh rip big brother
This was one of the rap songs that made me really memorize its lyrics. Such powerful poetry and story. This and "Nuthin' But a G Thang" were the two rap songs I really fk with deep!
This is definitely a masterpiece, a Picasso in the art of Story Telling. for more fire from Houston, react to Zro Life is a Battlefield, This aint Livin, crooked Officer, and Respect My Mind, Slim Thug ft Zro and JDawg Associates and No Love, Scarface ft Nas and Rick Ross Do What I Do.
I can still flow with the lyrics. The era when we had sub genre in genre. In rap genre we had different categories and so with RnB, reggae and others. Bring back the 80s, 90s and early 2000.
I kept running into this with Bushwick’s verse removed. Glad he found one with it still in there. This song came out at the same time as naughty by Nature OPP. Just funny the types of rap coming out at the same time.
glad u got the Venmo back up. I really do like watching Gen Z reacts to older music. Me personally I can't get with mumble rap. The last hip hop style that I thought was fun to bump was Master P just because if you had subwoofers in your car, that ish HIT!
I still like current music (gen z) but I grew up with this, living in Houston. Mumble rap was barely ever as big as you old heads make it seem. None of these rappers be mumbling. Yall just be closed minded and dont listen
@@SlentVceplease tell me good current rap. i believe that good rap is very rare nowadays, but i’m willing to change my mind if you show me evidence of it.
The first time I literally heard this i thought this song was hilarious asf to me cuz i lost my noodle & i couldn't stop laughing because i was literally going through all the motions at the same exact time back 2 back (ptsd , depression , loneliness , loss , anger, insanity , delusional , paranoid & seeing red & self destruction ) it was the darkest time of my entire life but all i could do was literally just laugh & cry about it because i was in that hole 😒 Please be real nice to ppl like myself cuz we are the real ones , we love & respect everyone but we also can't be normal or be ourselves either & will definitely defend ourselves in the darkest ways u don't want to ever experience in life if u play too much with us💯💯💯😔🙏
If you understand what they're talking about you'd understand what we went through as teenagers. This was my era, and we went through some crazy shit!!!!!!
I live in H-Town the ghetto boys have been a staple for decades. Scarface was just a man, Bushwick yeah, just on top deep south third coast in your face..
First listin ,sounds like 2 pac/ice Cube mix..gotta dig deeper see who came up first?, Boys or Pac .. I'm 56 and missed some shit over the years.... gonna suscribe cause yore fresh and I', a lil stale.
To me, one of the greatest rap songs, ever, but so few people know it
Easily one of the greatest rap songs ever, at least to me. It was so different when it came out with its laid back style and conversational tone talking about the demons that are bouncing around your mind at times. RIP Bushwick Bill.

I went to Aldine High School in tenth grade 1989-1990
20 years later and I still have GB in my daily rotation. I love seeing these young cats rediscovering them.
It's definitely a classic, and sacface who's part of the ghetto boys did a remix in 94

I've never been a hardcore rap fan but growing up in Houston in the 1980's I can tell you that this is absolutely a masterpiece. Once you hear it, it will be in your head forever.
My favorite all time rap song. Heard it maybe a billion times and never gets old. Not even really into rap,
Summer/fall 1991..... College days...
Willie D can't with that 🔥🔥second verse. They all cleaned up! #Masterpiece
Scarface is the greatest storyteller in the history of hip hop. Scorsese of rap.
Bro…Slick Rick
Storytellin'... you would probably diG " Niggas Bleed" by Biggie Smalls-- not even close, kiD* Enjoy*
@@UmaWallaceFace is better than Rick. IMO
This took me back to being 12 years old and hearing this song for the first time when it came out.. this brought back instant nostalgia. Eastside ATX
💯 master piece bro
Ah man love this song. Lyrics are on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Agree this is a master piece because you can visualize everything

Also, that hook. I still straight up relate to this. 1st heard when I was a high school freshman 1991
I can still flow with the lyrics. The era when we had sub genre in genre. In rap genre we had different categories and so with RnB, reggae and others. Bring back the 80s, 90s and early 2000.

This song is awesome, it always was
I grew up in the 90's banging this song in Nigeria..
Yes it's a classic
Yes that’s back when rappers actually were about something other than creating an image and persona.
The lyrics were about something.
They still are you're not hip to it old head
The world is a ghetto is my favorite ghetto boys song
This song is still stuck in this 48 year old brain
They came out of 5th ward Houston Texas. I grew up around this.
