I was a pier runner in Acapulco a few years ago, due to ship vs. port time confusion and my stupidity. Thought I was 30 minutes early, but was actually 30 minutes late. So lucky they waited. Very humiliating - deservedly so.
Oh no. That stinks. We got confused a few years ago on ship time/local time but left plenty of cushion. I’m paranoid about missing the ship. Glad it worked out and thanks for watching.

There is some major changes to the port they just finished recently. Can’t wait to go back and see / Vlog it for everyone.
Yes, on my first cruise in 1987 I saw someone get left in Nassau.
I like this one because you aren't mean. Everybody got on. It's a real hardship when people don't get on.

I was on RCCL Radiance 4th-11th Nov 2023, their was a pier runner/walker st the Costa Maya Port, she seemed to b very very intoxicated & confused bcuz she was back & forth between 3 different ships Radiance included, and CM Port is lllllloooooonnnnnnggggg, also she was struggling with a large heavy looking tote bag. She was weaving all over the pier, Officers from Allure had to assist her. It was hilarious. Did not get to videotape it my phone battery had died 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s become one of our favorite passtimes lol.
Have seen a family get there just after the ship left. They were vey luck and able to get a pilot, probably at a step price, to bring them to the ship.
That’s crazy! A pilot boat? I can’t believe they would allow that!
I saw pier runners my very first criuse back in 1989. We were leaving San Juan, we were supz to be back by 1am thats when you vould go out and party. Im a night owl so i saw alot of ppl miss the ship. I guess ppl thought the ship wouldnt leave them. That ead devasting for s ot of passengers thst said it was wrong for them to leave. As you know they give instructions and ppl just dont listen.

Please call it a gangway instead of a ramp. It helps me with my fantasy of cruising someday. I’m on my second passport and no stamps. I have got to get a life, but not today, I have to catch the senior citizen bus to the market 😄.
For pier runners it should be a gang plank lol!
We have seen a crew member that had to jump from the pier in Aruba in order to get back on! As we know, once they pull out , they can not pull back in.
That probably didn’t go over well with the Captain lol!

Ive mever seen it but we were on an excursion in Bahamas and they call 2 people out and saud your ship has left without you 😮

If you're like me and you can hardly walk- and you use a golf cart to pier run, yes- you are still a pier runner. 🤣

I have absolutely no interest in a cruise but am thinking if I did I would stay on the ship to watch for pier runners

My anxiety and petrifying fear of being embarrassed could never let me be a pier runner. I rather leave all my stuff than face that kind of embarrassment. Just give me my passport and I'll fly to the next port.
Me too. Thats why we always plan to be back at least an hour early.

Pier runners have to learn the hard way
We had more on our last cruise to St Maarten. There’s always a few these days.
I don't understand why these people are late for the ship they tell you before you get off the ship what time they going to depart. I have been on many cruises I'm always back least 3 hours before departure.
We agree but it happens quite often. It’s usually when there are several ships in port and people are partying a bit too much.
They. Should be. Fined. Named Shamed. Banned if repetitive ....
While the videos can be funny. It is very inconsiderate.

I’m not sure who the biggest losers are:
The clowns that are unable / unwilling to tell time. Stupidity or ignorance.
OR
The ones who choose to gawk at the above clowns. Especially the ones who cheer, encouraging similar behavior at the next port of call. The jeerers? Amusing yes (feel better about yourselves?), but I’d rather be at a bar or in the pool.
