Josh, as evidence with my style of video, I really like this style content. The voiceover and running footage was great. I like seeing you run courses and see what types of gates you set. I know you’ve mentioned you used to run cones often. I hope you continue making more content like this. 🤙🏼
I just recently got myself a Capra and really appreciate all the great info, looking forward to building mine up. Thanks for giving me a detection to go with!
I got a capra as well about 2 months ago. So far the worst part is it does not have a drag brake. I still love it and I will love it more when I get a brushless motor into it. A little more speed for dirt and smoother control climbing. Love these video's....
@@rccrawlingaddict207 right on. I totally agree, a Brushless set up is what I did almost right away lol. Absolutely love my Capra now. I have some pretty good trail run footage on my channel if you want to check it out
Hey, new to all of this. Just ordered my Capra 4WS. You mentioned adding brass steering knuckles front and rear but it's not listed in your build list. Can you tell me what you used? Thanks!!
Really enjoyed the video! The voiceover talk through provided a lot of insight. Those were some gnarly courses. Looking forward to picking up one of these new Capra’s at some point. That red and black cage and livery looks great.
Truck looks like it performs awesome! I know exactly where you were filming and the video makes it look way easier that it truly is. Keep up the great work! Hope to see you soon out on the rocks.
Just got my 4ws this week and love it. Only mods so far was TGH mild overdrive in the front portals 25%. 50wt oil and 3/4 on pen springs in the stock shocks. Tires are Proline Flat Irons (fair at best) with SSD steel wheels. The drag brake improved with the OD gears but I've ordered a Dynamite programmer. I want a brushed Holmes Hobbies motor but not sure what would be best. I saw smoke coming from the stocker today. I think I need an 11 tooth pinion next and extend it with some Jato endlinks.
I have been playing around with the idea of a capra, I do alot of trail driving, but also some steep hill, and rock climbing. Wonder if I can build a front axle dolly, so I can hook the capra on to the back of my trail rig, and tow it. And use tha capra as a "side mission" on the trails. With the dig unit in free-wheel, I only need to lift the front wheels up, and then it behaves like a trailer. Any thoughts?
I would really like to see you try out some Reefs servos. I have 4 of there servos and I love them. I have a Raw 500 on my comp crawler and my custom Smt10. I have the 400Sc in my Mt410 and Reefs 99s in my Scx24. Would like to see what you think of them
@@DRockDreamin Yea all their servos are monsters. I really like that you can get replacement gears if you ever do strip out a gear. The 400Sc is awesome because it makes almost the same power as the others but its crazy fast.
The axles are locked, but if you mean grease on the gears then I opened them to change gears already. There was adequate grease on parts. I don’t think it’s something that should hold you back from buying it regardless though, you could run with no grease for a really long time even.
head cam would have been so much better dude love this 4ws capra you have sold me on this so looks like ill be getting one with some upgrades too cheers bro, love the channel btw and you rock
Yeah, I had one with me too. I’ll definitely do better at that next time. I thought the chest mount would be better because it would be closer/lower. I was wrong 😂
I think you should do a beginner video for people that are just getting into crawling with like the TRX4 or SCX 10 for people that are just getting into the crawling world. Some minor upgrades for beginners! Love the videos. Lets do a SCX10 III gladiator for beginners
HI SIR IM REALLY LIKING THIS 4 WHEEL STEER CAPRA. I FIRST SEEN IT ON DING DONGS CHANEL (LOGON FROM WEST DESERT WHEELERS) LOL. GREAT UPGRADES DEFINITELY IMPROVED THE TRUCK.🇬🇧🇺🇸🎄🎅🤶♥️🕊️✌️👍
Hey i want to talk seriously for a moment,im 56 and on disability,my wife is terminally ill and i got into the hobby to relive stress.I want to buy a capra 4ws everyone say its a real rock crawler not like my scx 10 III gladiator, anyways im looking for a review video and your first one rocks on comp course.but then most all you guys get a new RTR and rip out everything electronics and this and that.I couldnt afford that if i tried. Can you pleae give me an honest review of the capra 4ws stock ,i will put alum wheels maybe front wheel wieghts but thats about it.IS it worth 550 dollars the way it is,will it climb well everyday7 stock.I trust you and your judgment you rock .
Between your videos ad West Desert Wheeler’s, I kinda want to throw rear steer onto my old Night Crawler BnD, since it needs an electronics upgrade too.
Hi, wet blanket here, wouldn't it be cheaper too buy the kit and build a 4WS from a kit instead of replacing the crap. Seems like you're wasting money. Well you do get that snazzy "I bought the RTR" red cage.
The most cost effective way to buy the Capra is RTR with 4ws, if you plan on adding 4ws. It costs around $150-200 to add 4ws to the kit, so its actually more expensive. I've been looking. :)
Grim, if you want a rear steer Capra. The 4WS is considerably cheaper to start with. It cost me over 200$ to convert to rear steer. The 4WS is a good value

Thanks Josh two years later is what I’m looking at this with. Thank you for your recommendation.
I don't comment very often, but really enjoyed the video. Especially the talk through while driving courses. Very informative.

hey man where did you find a battery for the Capra??????? , Iam finding it hard to find a good battery!!!
When u run the 3 speed trans do u lose the reverse option I read somewhere u do and I wasn't sure
It’s a 3-gear, meaning there are 3 physical gears inside the transmission. It is not a 3 speed.
@@HarleyDesignsInc okay that makes more sense thank you
Awesome driving
Great build. I really enjoyed the the coarse footage also.
hello, I wanted to know how wide the external wheels are, then do you think we could install a winch? hello thanks!
Bought mine today. Nitto edition. Mine is way lower. Bottom links are completely flat. Maybe they corrected something in the last year.
Good seeing you out at Oak yesterday. Wish my 4ws Capra hadn’t broken early on in the day, this were some gnarly courses
This new 4ws capra got my intr for sure 👍

Just picked up the tube chassis for a straight axle build.
Ar44 axles with Vanquish servo mounts 👌

You should look for sanwa mt4/MT4S for rear steering.. Wheel base of my capra is 36.5cm and trx4 Shocks and it helped a lot
Is the copperhead smaller than the mamba x cuz I ended up taking the X out of mine and going brushed

Yeah reefs kicks ass
What wheels are you running? my wheels I tried hit the portals.
Vanquish Method 105’s with 350 SLW Hubs.
@@HarleyDesignsInc thanks I appreciate it
Curious as to what spur/pinion combo you are using on the 3 Gear with the portal axles?
Currently 56/12 but I’ll change to 56/15. That’s with a 2700kv on 3s.
Did the skid and trans just fall into place without any cutting or modding of the cage or anything?
Yes, drops right in. The spur can rub the interior cover is all, I did heat it up a little and move it out of the way.
@@HarleyDesignsInc thank you, really appreciate you man
Can you take apart the differentials and see how much Diff oil is in there? Possibly Live? It’s holding me back on buying it.

You get get in almost a half inch lower by adjusting your shocks.
This release may have changed my plans for my class 3...
This makes me want to get some gates and actually crawl and not just Trail truck on family hikes.
Thanks for sharing.
Cool crawl area 😎
Never got onto the Capra train. Haven't ran my Gen1 Bomber in years even. I'm so horrible I know 😂
Nice upgrades Josh 💪🏾💯🔥
Shimano shoe bag... Do you ride bikes as well? Or just use the bag to carry your stuff out on the trail?
maybe a headband mount in the future?
Yeah, I had one with me too. I’ll definitely do better at that next time. I thought the chest mount would be better because it would be closer/lower. I was wrong 😂
Bro we got the same Altra Timps, I really like them a lot, they were awesome when I was on the AT doing some hiking!
I just bought 2 more pair on sale at REI online for half price!

That’s pretty much what the budget build series were. I’ve done a TRX4 version of it.
Why overdrive and underdrive? It seems that it is almost mimicking a dig dragging the back end some...
Yea, since this is not for trail driving the exaggerated overdrive is a benefit for climbing mainly. It’s a helpful tool.
Need a GoPro headband mount.👍🏼
I’ve got one, I just thought it was going to be too high up but that’s what I’ll try next time.
Great driving commentary. Loved it! Question....Why were you considering the Spektrum transmitter over your Futaba?
I was just planning to show programming for both. I’ll still be running my Futaba.
I didn't see it drive
It’s the second half of the video.

In his case he didn’t have to pay for the truck so you’re likely absolutely right for the average person building one.
The 4WS version has a different cage, but it could be cheaper maybe. But then I’d also have to paint it. I prefer this route 😂
