Great video, subbed. Excited to ride - I will miss the rag-doll physics of the only stand up zero G roll in the world... but someone once told me that coaster smoothness it down to trains and wheels way more than it's down to track. Sound like it rings true here! The intensity will feel totally different sitting down, so I am glad that we're getting 'another experience' out of it.
Hey, thanks for subscribing, I’ll always miss the zero G stood up (arms up and feet off the floor of course 😂) but this still throws you, try and get the left hand seat and it still hits hard 🙌
I rode the Wave yesterday, it was AMAZING! It was soo smooth, but much more thrilling than the stand up. It was so windy my mouth was open the whole time 😂
They've known about the issue for weeks but pushed for the launch hoping a miracle fix would occur. It is what it is, the rest of the day was great and that new coaster looks special.
@@modgetall that’s a shame, it was honestly riding so well on Thursday. Glad you enjoyed the rest of the day though, can’t wait for that new coaster now 🙌
The reason that the trains are are raised up is due to the heartline of the track, standup coasters have a 2.1m heartline if i remember correctly and the average sitdown is 1.2-1.5m (some are closer to 1.8m) so to reach the 2.1m heartline, they had to raise the trains and seats to match! Hope this helps anyone wondering :)
Shoutout to you're sister for taking you on Shockwave and making you a coaster enthousiast. It's good to see that a park isn't removing an iconic ride but changes the trains to keep the ride in the park, and the new height limit is really good for younger guests to experience one if their first coasters.
It's a winner then. Never really did like the original stand up. These lap bar R'Coasters (Shamhbala,Mako,RipR Rocket and now Wave) are so thrilling and comfortable.
@@CoasterGiant1personally, I wish they had just made the wave a separate ride and just retracted it like with nemmie, if it were to be returned to its classic rides in 94, it would have been amazing, back then it was smooth, and you could even ride it standing backwards. Sure, the ride could have done with some changes, but completely changing arguably one of the best features, in my opinion, isn’t the greatest. The layout is a bit bland, and I know that for a lot of enthusiasts they only rode it because of the standup aspect. Sad to see the classic shockwave trains gone, but I’m going bank holiday on the 6th, so I’ll have to see what I think. It may just be the nostalgia swaying me, but being a Brit and being too poor to go abroad for theme parks, it was nice having a standup at one of my closest parks.
@@gamingandcraftswithlogan8714 I would love that too but I guess it just comes down to what makes good business sense for them and can totally see why they’ve gone for this option. I’d rather have the Wave and the new Intamin coaster rather than just a retracted shockwave 👍🏻
@@CoasterGiant1 yeah, good point, I would rather them make more money so that they can build more great rides and areas like thor, hell, maybe even a new, smoother standup or an apocalypse replacement, than spending millions to replace the track of some rough ride that isn’t working to great anymore. Sad to see it go, but if it’s better, then, Y’know, it’s the same ride pretty much. Still gonna remember back when they let you stand backwards in those restraints, so fun, but hey, it was getting old and rougher by the day, it was inevitable, shame I didn’t get to ride it one more time before it closed, but there’s still other stand ups out there, it wasn’t like shockwave wasn’t the only one out there.
@@gamingandcraftswithlogan8714 I would love a drop tower back there one day, something like Venom at WMSP or Detonator at Thorpe Park would really fit the Family Thrill demographic

One of the best the original shockwave was like they say every dawg has it's day. It was also my first coaster able to get on at the age of 9 back in 2000 I'm now 32 lol it was still 7up shockwave then got sponsored by n-power in early 2000s if can remember right got the old shockwave mug and keyring somewhere and wrist band bright orange with the original shockwave logo onit
I remember 7up shockwave well! Remember the flags and banners on the lift hill. I use to collect every wrist band when I was a kid but chucked them away when I was in my teens, so mad at myself now 😡😂😂😂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi, they really are and it’s so good to see. I’ve just counted up that this year alone they’ve rethemed/upgraded 7 attractions! All at the same times as retheming a whole new area AND building a new multi million pound roller coaster! Such an exciting time for Drayton 🙌 thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hey Kelly, yes he’ll be fine, the lap restraint completely covers your upper legs so you’re held on by your legs rather than around your waist like some other lap bars, they push them down tight too! Hope you enjoy it, and thank you for watching ☺️
Who would even want to bother riding that coaster it’s a shell if it’s former self and that park is now only aimed at children so don’t bother if ya an adult thrill seeker as they don’t really want that crowd anymore 🙄🤢
The park have been very open with their new direction. As a thrill seeker myself I also know how to have a fun day in the park with mates enjoying the family thrill rides, some of which are still intense - The Wave, Air Race, maelstrom etc. guess it just comes down to what you’re into.
I mean, it is advertised as a family thrill park, they aren’t gonna have the fastest fucking rollercoaster in the world or some shit, and it’s still the same ride, just with different trains. And they have maelstrom, an amazing ride, they have the swinging ship, a classic, and they have stormforce, one of my favourite water rides in the country, possibly only behind tiger rock and tidal wave. If you’re going to a theme park for a single rollercoaster that lasts less than a minute, that’s pathetic. There’s plenty of great rides there, just because you only like rollercoasters doesn’t lessen how good the park is, they have Loki and Thor, maelstrom, stormforce ten, pirate ship, the new rollercoaster coming up in frontier falls, there’s plenty things to do there.

Was one of the ride staff there that night, specifically part of the group shouting womp womp as it went round and at the end 😂
😂 it was a good night wasn’t it!

Missed out due to mass technical issues.
@@modgetall oh no, this is the thing with new rides, they often have down time when they first open. Hope they manage to get it sorted soon

Not long until you can try it for yourself 🙌
Cool and crazy at the same time
What I didn’t know it was testing let alone open to early access 😂
Fully open to the public today 🙌
How do you get access to events like this? Do you get invited or do you have to get in contact with them?? The track really needs a repaint or jetwash
Annual pass holders I think
Hi, I was contacted by Drayton and invited, which was very kind of them 👍🏻

Yeah, I think they’re onto a winner, was never going to be a big thrill coaster but it’s a lot of fun.

Interesting… they’re using the same soundtrack as pipeline at SeaWorld Orlando! 😂
😂
The brakes are literally all that’s original from Shockwave in the station
Thank god they kept them breaks 😂. I did miss the clunky sound of the restraints locking and unlocking
still a shocker to see its still got its short break run which is really rough but it looks really good
The break run isn’t as harsh as the stand up train use to be, the train doesn’t actually come to a complete stop now so defo improved

The Drayton Manor management team are doing a great job; the park's looking good.

Commenting about a coaster you haven’t even ridden, not narrow minded at all
@@Beefy2203 Been on it plenty of times when it was a stand up coaster bit narrow minded to think i haven’t before making my comment 🥴
