I attended many FM performances in Toronto bars and other small venues in the the early 1980s. Cameron Hawkins, Martin Diller and Nash The Slash "James Jeffrey "Jeff" Plewman, rocked my life! And, still Rock my life several decades later. Hold Fast, Hold On.

I saw Nash at the Edge and Horseshoe long before he wore the bandages. He even let me go backstage one night because I was wearing a cap that i had made at the Ex with "Nash the Slash" on it. He was a really nice guy!

man, i feel so nostalgic when i hear this song... i became a fan around in the late 70's when i heard FM's music on Q107 radio broadcasting out of Toronto... then i bought the Black Noise album, which is still among my all-time faves. i saw Nash play at Ontario Place in the early-to-mid-80's, but since i was a bit far into the beers, i have no real memory of the show.

They were in a sort of weird place at the time. Black Noise was released by CBC( certainly the original pressing) and they were probably better known as the composers to the theme for the CBC radio drama Johnny Chase: Secret Agent of Space. Also don't forget that they were an avant-garde prog rock band in the heart of the disco era. Talented( classically-trained), but just not on the broad public's radar.
I remember seeing dozens of copies of Black Noise sitting in Sam's for months.

Saw him at The Snowbird's Hanger in Sarnia, '85? That was during his rare CHiPs phase. Fantastic outfit. Great show. Great venue. Also saw the CHiPs show at Humber College, '87? One of those years might be wrong. What a great performer. I also saw his long-form videos from TVO's Night Music in the late 70s during his black tails period. They would run at like 2:00 am. Those videos were amazing - lasting 20 minutes long. The show would just collage them together seamlessly so you got a full 45 minute run of Nash doing his thing. Thank you so much Nash.

There is at least one version of this song on RUclips with Cameron Hawkins and Nash the Slash as a duo, before the addition of drummer Martin Deller for the Black Noise studio album that this song, Phasors on Stun, was originally released on.
In that video, Jeff Plewman, who became Nash the Slash later, was not wearing what became his trademark face bandages as Nash the Slash.
He wore a hat and wire frame sunglasses, along with his curly brown almost black hair.
It's interesting to see him without the bandages, but one can almost understand why he adopted the Nash the Slash persona.
Jeff Plewman seemed a little forgettable, even though he was already a bit eccentric and esoteric, even back then.
      Check it out.
      Worth uncovering.
(It's their 1976 live concert that just featured Cameron Hawkins and Jeff Plewman, before Jeff became Nash the Slash.)
