I had fallen in love with a cabinet only to discover that it tested positive for Lead. I looked for ways to deal with it but everyone told me to send it to the dump. I found a company in the US that is the only company to make a paint stripper specifically for lead paint! You cannot buy this in any box store, at least here in Canada you cannot. The product worked amazingly well. I love your work and your standards are beyond reproach!

They apologize to them when they can’t save them, rescue them even if they’re a little damaged and give them loving pats when they have to walk away. Beautiful work. You’re a nice person to put that kind of effort into such a ragged piece. But if I may “Mom Talk” you for just a moment, I’d be more comfortable having you avoid the lead altogether! The result was very nice, and I enjoy your videos.

Thingy is a technical wood working term. You took a little piece of furniture someone else would have thrown away and made it attractive and useful. It still has a nice mid century feel and it is solid and actually quite pretty. Bravo!

As none of the donor piece is visible, and you still have traces of lead in it, would it not have been less work, and a lot safer, to use it as a pattern for a new piece and have the contaminated wood safely disposed of?

@@Flippingdrawers what makes you think I didn't? You said yourself, you basically made a sarcophagus for the bits of the original you kept, my view is that it would have been safer not to disturb the toxic paint with a sander, and just take the dimensions to make a new piece, and as you only really use parts of the original as a skeleton frame, using a few pieces of non-contaminated wood few to form that frame would have been less work.
Yes, you wanted to try and save the piece, I'm just not sure that was the right move with this one.

Where I’m from we call this process, refacing. We used refacing to modernize kitchen cabinets. Your job there is very good. Thanks for the content.

Great job as usual you are so clever but … I found this pointless as you changed all the wood of the cupboard so I do not understand why you bothered and rather said you were going to build cupboard from scratch it would have saved all the bad lead clearing and it would have ended up looking the same Well done great to watch you work

@@Flippingdrawers yes to show how to deal with lead paint .. which you should remove with stripper then there is no dust particles to deal with.. I think the result was brilliant as usual you are very talented I have watched you from the start .. but I just felt with your talent it would have been better to see you make something from scratch ( which you almost did any way ).. There’s a challenge for you lol
