This was a big challenge. I found this cupboard on Fb Marketplace. It needed a new foot and some other bits but it was all worth the final results !

Great video and great work on the bedside table. The repairs on the foot and trim were really good.
I hope you had a great holiday. I'm in Southern California (Los Angeles area). We don't go to church, so it is a secular holiday for us. As soon as we get up and get coffee, we open presents. Then we didn't have proper meals until dinner, which was a roast beef. Just a quiet holiday for us. It would be more exciting if we had little kids in the family who are close by.

I stumbled across you from a comment on an AT Restoration video, so Merry Christmas - you have a new subscriber from Saint Louis, Missouri, USA!
My family's tradition was to celebrate all 12 days if Christmas. We grew up in the city but had 27 acres about an hour away for weekends and summers. Initially my parents planted evergreens as a way to combat erosion from overgrazing, but a few years later some of them grew into lovely Christmas trees, so we started planting in rows and pruning in the eatly summer. We got ao busy from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve that our own Charlie Brown style Christmas tree didnt get put up until late. So we would open a present each morning (plus one after midnight church Christmas Eve.) After the first day it wasn't anything big, such as socks & undies with a pack of gum or puzzle book. My folks are nearing 80 so have retired the business and some of the remaining trees are 30' tall!

As far as a tradition I usually end up doing Christmas Day with Mom and her husband. These days it’s just me and my 96 year old mom. My 4 other siblings are married and have different agendas. Merry Christmas to you.

Nice finished project. You use oxalic acid pretty frequently on your projects and l have a question. I heard another furniture restorer say that when the oxalic acid dries it forms fine crystals. That guy was concerned about pet paws getting cut by the crystals. What do you think?

Solid wood rare in furniture? I had no idea. In highschool woodshop (class of '82) I made a music cabinet of ... Well, a solid teak frame anyway, enclosing teak plywood (including the slots inside for my sheet music -- I play trombone), with a solid teak top. I guess we didn't learn how to fully finish our pieces back then...or our school just didn't have the supplies... As a Pagan/Wicca, I celebrate Yule (named after the Pagan deity) on December 21, the original Winter Solstice holiday, in my own solitary Circle, but with 4 generations worth of copious holiday decorations, albeit now in keeping with my true spirituality.😊 Washington state.

Seeing Hugo visiting made me wonder if your feline friends are scared off by the sounds of various machines running.
My Dad's cat, Tiger, was entirely used to machines running in the shop.
Once when my father, brother, and myself were momentarily gathered around the table saw to consult about something or other, Tiger came to visit by leaping gracefully to the top of the of the table. There was a moment of breathless horror as Tiger began to sit down, inches from the *unprotected* spinning blade.
I watched as my hand, of its own volition, reached over the blade and plucked the ignorant cat off and into my arms.
It was a while before we could all breathe again.
Of course, I got chastised for reaching over the blade, but ...... what else could I have done?
I just don’t run anything loud when they are around. 😉🎄🎄

My dad loved chocolate covered cherrys. Lol. He passed away in 2018 but on his birthday (yesterday) and Christmas we eat one in his memory. Then we pray and thank God for what he’s done for us through the year!

On Christmas Eve, we attend Church, we all receivenew matching pajamas, eat a prime rib dinner, read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" aloud, and watch movies together. On Christmas Day, we get up early, open our Christmas stockings, eat a lovely breakfast, and open gifts before getting ready to have our extended family over for a Christmas Buffett. After everyone leaves we turn off all the lights in the house except the Christmas Tree lights and enjoy the beauty of our tree. It is a pretty much perfect day. I am from the United States, Washington State.

It turned out really beautiful! Like new. Watching you work, reminds me of my husband, he could fix and repair anything; but where you are meticulously tidy, if I didn’t keep his tools organized, he couldn’t find a thing! Lol. But as long as I organized his tools (so he could find them) he was a real craftsman!

I like stripping/scraping as much as possible, and save the sanding for the last bit. I hate trying to sand paint because it gums up the paper so fast 🥴

Gorgeous result! You asked about our holiday customs. Here on the Northern California coast it's crab season. We always have crab for dinner on Christmas Eve. My mother in-law is from the American South--Tennessee, where it's customary to have black-eyed peas for good luck on New Year's Day. We have those with collard greens, ham, and cornbread. Happy new years from the US! Growing up my family had a tradition where my dad would put the first clue of a scavenger hunt in the toe of our stocking to find on Christmas morning. We’d spend the rest of the afternoon following clues and solving puzzles all over the house and yard until we found a gift at the end! I plan to keep the tradition going if I ever have kids.

We had dinner with our daughter and her boyfriend, beef Wellington with my husband’s special potatoes, and pavlova for dessert. We watched Christmas movies together till we got sleepy and went home very happy. It was lovely. Amazing restoration!
