I remember some things that were shared about recording the Toxicity Album: For Daron he used a Soldano/Mesa DR as with high gain guitar tones (it all starts to sound the same the more gain you go in with.) using Mashall JCM800 or Orange amp for the cruncy tones into the Rivera 4x12 with old V30 loaded into it, and SM-57/58 reamping into RR's console. the cab makes and breaks the sound. For the "epic bass" sounds, it was a Ampeg SVT CL or an Ashdown ABM-600/1200 into a Ampeg fridge 8x10, recorded with an SM-57/58 into RR's Neve 8068 console. Similar setup (with the SVT-CL) for was used by RATM which can pull off that crunchy tone you're talking about.

I love your videos! One area that would be sick for you to touch on is that modern posthardcore sound like SeeYouSpaceCowboy or If I Die First. Not many content out there like that 🙏

Dude your videos are amazing, l have watched all of them and keep coming back to them as I am heavily inspired by most of the bands you cover. Your ability to recreate the sound and feel so accurately is phenomenal!! I've noticed that you have a set of 'go to' plugins etc. and I wondered if you would do a video to showcase which plugins you use and a general a guide on how to use them for example eq, compression etc? I really struggle with the mixing side of things and you explain things really well so I'd love to see you do a video focused more on mixing technique and how to use the various tools correctly. Thanks for all the time and work that goes into these videos, they will be helping and inspiring a lot of people!!!

I’m not sure yet whether I’m gonna be making a vid like that for the channel, but in the upcoming courses there will definitely be some deeper dives into how to use all these tools. I have a bunch of other vids lined up for the channel but may still put some kind of plugin rundown out in a few months!

Hello, Richii, I am a big fan of your work, and every time you inspire me to make new tracks and improve, thank you for your videos. Please answer one question, at what volume do you mix and master your tracks? I will be very grateful for the answer. 🤝

@@BoGaZhNIK thank you for watching. Means a lot whenever someone tells me they get a lot out of these!
To be honest, I just use my ears for levels, and it’s different for every track. I know that’s a crap answer but I rarely actually look at the numbers 😆 I just use 2-4 reference tracks (both when mixing, and when mastering) and just make sure my track sounds good alongside them. Generally as long as your mix isn’t clipping it’s ok, I always just keep it a little bit below clipping
