You know I've spent a lot of time in DAWs recreating NIN and Manson and Tool but you have an intuition for it that is kind of nutty. Props man.

Most underrated production channel on youtube, seriously. I’ve been a producer in mostly electronic genres for years but recently have been working with some artists that want to go more in a heavy rock/metal direction and your videos have helped me so much man. And this might be your best video yet, you absolutely nailed the sound.

I've done some production work on my friend's prog rock band, and from that experience I can tell you that working with real drums is by far the most difficult part of the process. So I don't blame you at all for using fake ones. It's a pretty convincing demo! Danny Carey has spent decades honing his craft, so if you can come anywhere close within a couple days, I'd call that a win.

@@CricketStyleJ I’ve worked with live drum audio a bunch and wouldn’t say it’s any different personally, haha. I approach them both the same. These days I just don’t see a need for live drums, but everyone has their own opinions. Thanks for watching man!

@@RichiiWainwright With mixing I'd say it's somewhat different, but not hugely. The big differences are in the performance and recording. We spent two years trying to get the drums done for one album.

with all due respect to the love of my lifetime Linkin Park, i think Tool has the most complex production in heavy music. like, every single rule you could apply to almost any other band, they either break it or alternate it 😄

Hey mate what is the DAW you are using? Can you make a video on how to make a metal song and what plugins you use. I need help bad i just started using a computer last year n made shit loads of songs on spotify but the sound quality sux please help.. clownfreak is my music on spotify. I use traction wave form 12.5. imac plugins from nearal dsp and for bass growler vocals i only have a sm57. Thanks your epic.

@@clownfreak3658 I’m using cubase. All my plugins are in the videos. There’s no secret though, all these plugins would sound bad if I didn’t know how to use em, and cubase is the same as every other daw. It just comes down to using your ears and being super patient. I have to do so much trial and error before I can get the sound I want. I know that’s not a quick fix but I get a lot of questions like this and the best answer I can give is always that there’s no secret. I put it all in the videos. It’s just a case of spending a long time on the track until it starts to sound right. Every track I make drives me insane haha

@@RichiiWainwright thanks mate for replying yeah I only found you last night and seen what you use. I can use plugins but I screw around for hours it's just the final result of trying to find a polished sound at the end. Drives me mental about eq limiters n compression. I got nothing lol. And vocals are rediculouse. I love when I get 1 comment for a song lol you must be proud of your self. Wish you could do me a favour have a sneak through some of mine n give it to me straight what I need. World sux today wish everyone helped each other out lol.

Tool is not complex, is just not 4/4, comolex is using odd scales and modes, microtonality or not conventional instruments or using the 12 notes instead different temperamento like 9 notes (indian, etc), thats complex. They just use guitar, bass, voice in a conventional way using conventional sound with conventional modes and scales normal in all metal world
