  • Why would you want to harvest your worm castings at 70%
If your compost worms have been breeding then they have been dropping lots of cocoon through the unfinished bedding and you just could be missing out on building up populations fast.
When you harvest your worm castings at 70% and move them to another bin you allow all these cocoons to hatch and consume the remaining 30% of food that's still available.
Worm casts hold a lot of moisture so it creates the perfect material for the wisps to hatch and grow up fast.
You can if you like also add a little bit of feed to build up their size or to trap them and move into other farms.

Happy harvest at 70% how long until 100% ready with spring weather.
Did you start the new bin with your new bedding?

Hi Rick, if I didnt harvest it would have been a few more weeks until it was 100% casts. Started the new bins, will show you an update once they settle in.
