- Hey everyone welcome back, hope everyone had a great week. This particular truck came in as you guys can see with the PTO not working. I noticed during inspections that the brake light did not come on when putting the park brake on. Take a trip with me down the diag path thru 6.Heaven & find out the royal question, WHY!!! Thank you for this video! This is exactly what my issue was. Found the disconnected wire as shown in your video and immediately solved my high idle issue.
Dude that's awesome
Nice find and repair. There should be a fix for the water intrusion.
I HAVE A 2015 F550 WITH AN ALTEC UNIT MOUNTED... ISSUE- NO PTO... COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM... THANKS TO THIS VIDEO, IM GOING BACK TO CHECK THE NO PTO ISSUE...
Nice job.
All of the 550’s I see are unfitted with PTO and mounted equipment.
Sometimes the most difficult part is isolating whether it is on the oem or up-fitter side. I like to do like you did and first verify if the oem side is ok first.
Then start checking the pdm on the upfitted side. Sometimes can be challenging to say the least. Many have well over 100k miles when I see them.
I have a 2008 f550 and the PTO just stopped working. This was the most helpful promising video yet.
Awsome job!!!! I just had this same issue, had it at a ford dealership and they didn’t fix it.. I was scratching my head until I seen this video, yup exactly what the problem was!!! Thank you!!!!
Arod the magician! Nailed it💯
IDS has all the wiring diagrams and specs for all the Super Dutys Great Job AROD
Nice find. Thanks for sharing!
You are simply amazing
Again one out of the ballpark. Good job.
Nice work as usual. Being aluminum, the water shouldn’t rot out the sill like it would on steel trucks. I still hate working on wiring under the dash...always tight to get to.
We had a similar situation with the wires in the door sill that started smoking. All the in and out of the truck while plowing and salting made the snow melt off our boots and soaked the wires in a salty water mess.
“Jazzed up” that’s what I’m talking about.
🖑🖐🖑🖐🖑🖐🖑
Great vid as always!
Thanks Joseph
Good find Arod
Definitely a good find.
Amazing
You da man brother...
Nice work good video thanks
1st, 1st & 1st good as always 👨.
Lmao, i love it...thanks my dood!!!
Well done my friend!
Thanks buddy 👍👍👍
Cool video 😎
2019 is a new model, How in the heck did the WATER got in there ???
Soooooo.... the Preventive Measure for this failure would beeeeeeeee..... WeatherTech floor mats? LOLLLL Good find. What a PITA though
Brilliant, well done. You have great problem solving skills and patience. I would have bet on a bad brake switch not a wiring failure hidden on the other side of the truck. Keep of the great professional work!
Thanks buddy!!!
Exselete diagnostic tec. Nice video.
Got to love the ford warranty
Yes sir
Great video I be purchasing 24 f550 service truck is there any way to bypass the emergency brake for the pto to engage reason continue press release brake not productive and can easily be worn out
THIS IS MY EXACT PROBLEM! I bought my GMC c5500 Topkick Chevron rollback tow truck knowing the PTO would turn on but the RPM's would not encrease cause the bed to move as slow as frozen mallasses. After working with a faulty PTO for little over a week out of nowhere the PTO began working correctly. It worked for a week and somehow has now gone back to its slow failed state... WHY!
Please send more videos nice video
Damn good job, mate!
Hey buddy!!!!!! Hope ur doin well. Good to hear from ya!
THE LEGEND APPEARS!
Glad to hear that you're still on the RUclipss
It's Flmmaz's fault that I even bought one of these damn things in the first place. :)
Your in my hands now pup!! 👍👍👍👍👍😉😉😉😉
Should have installed a old fashion push pull cable to engage/disengage, tell them you fixed the problem lol.
Lol, all new techy nowadayzzzz
Leave it to Ford to put a splice where water collects. Good Vid 👍
Was thinking the same thing! We have a fleet of work trucks at my job all GM they have water collect in the same spot , I’ve had to make a similar repair to the aux warning light ( roof strobe) wiring one time on our 2007 ...light wouldn’t shut off the trigger and constant power wire to the relay wore thru the insulation and triggered the relay even with the switch off....
Wow whata find
Wow, that is aerospace complicated without the aerospace redundancy.
Lololol
Had the same problem on one of our 2017 F550s....same place
Well GD!
Working on one now. Looks like I need your help. Nice job.
I got chu
Any idea on how a stationary and mobile mode work.
I dont usually wld come with ur pto upfit destructions
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod do you know where I would find the ford “pto relay” it controls the blue/white wire. If I’m not mistaken it’s a ground relay.
Very good find!!! Very interesting to see this video. I have a '18 F-250 with all of 2000 miles on it waiting for me to attack and repair this next week. The symptom has been a frequent and intermittent ABS and hill start assist lights coming on, as well as check engine to go along with loss of accelerator control since new. I found C1232B of the PCM not seating properly. Unfortunately that particular connector is tied into the 12A581 harness with no separately serviceable pigtail for that 75 pin connector. So how would you attack this under warranty? See where I'm going?
Sounds like an engine harness or your gonna de-pin 75 wires....
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Actually no unfortunately. The 12B637 is the engine harness. This is the harness which includes the BJB and runs through the firewall and into the IP harness. I'm not too sure if warranty will allow me to cannibalize a brand new harness just for the one pigtail with 75 wires.
Most definitely, thats what the Hotline has told me to do multiple times for sure!
I would sell that thing so quick! It’s probably a flood truck! If it is a flood truck, that broken wire is just the beginning of many more electrical issues.
No flood bud...
Older video but I have a question. Since the PTO is already using the SEIC plug, how can you add a high idle to these trucks without engagement of the PTO? I have a 2019 f550 and would like it for winter.
Ud have to add another leg to that circuit
I got a pto on my truck when trying to turn it on makes a click sound?
So Bro you fixed the wire and PTO but...…. What about the water problem. Being a car carrier people must get in with wet and snowy boots all the time. Some engineer clogged the rain gutter with wires!! Like in the movie when the Three Stooge' Plumbers tried to fix the drainage but the pipes were clogged with wires.
Lololol yepp snowy boots n not being able to dry...copper and moisture...woo wee
What software are you using? I have the same problem right now, PTO works for 15 mins and then drops out with low pump flow, PTO light goes out. Chelsea says Ford ECM needs a signal to lock up torque converter, so I replaced pressure switch, same problem.
Ford IDS...dealer tool
Got a 2022 f550 tow truck has had just over 8000 miles bed on ground and pto stopped working and still don't work and park brake lights up with break on
Did you check your up-fit wiring in the passenger front kick panel
my bucket truck, f 550 pto stopped working , i found a simple connection split from e brake , light went on but wire was disconnected. ironically I replaced a relay too. stopped working and I have to go through to fix, probably hire a electric mechanic
Yea call Altec!
Just had this starting to happen to mine 2019 F550. I haven't paid attention to brake light because it says " parking brake engaged" on the display. It's an intermittent issue and its left my crane up and no way to lower it manually. With all the shops booked for weeks out, I may have to do some troubleshooting of my own. Where can I find this schematic?
Motorcraft.com
Is there any fuses that can blow I drilled thru the foot board and hit a wire. Didn’t break it but it must of went to ground and I’m hoping it just blew a fuse
🤷♂️
Do these interconnections between the parking and e-brake mean that the PTO only engages when the brakes are on? Like a fail safe? Looking at under chassis PTO gensets for a new SuperDuty.
Yes, correct
What about mobile mode? They do operate with out the park brake on in mobile mode.
Yea
Yes, park brake must be applied unless you have a mobile pto used for like herbicide spraying, etc
Good, quick diagnostic video! I am a fellow tech myself. How many years have you worked on the 250 up to the 750 for Ford? And what is the average amount hourly a good tech should make doing that type of work on that size vehicle????????
Superdutys since 2000...all depends on ur skillzz..
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod Someone that can fix just about anything on those vehicles is the skills I’m talking about. Someone that could diagnose accurately every time and fix the first time.
Its hard nowadays to find good techs like that. I am proud of my foundation that my mentor set for me, i started building & haven't stopped...runnin 20yrs straight been in the diesel game since 7.3's were still under warranty
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod wow! 7.3.....the holy grail in the diesel world? It really has been ruined since then👎
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod i though about going to the blue oval. We have one in our company.
Does the PTO always idle it up or can you program it to run slower. I want to put an air compressor on it but it takes 1100rpm max. Vanair systems cost around $20k to 30k which is way out of budget.
There is a potentiometer supposed to be in that kit so u can achieve your target rpm...
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I found a Munice F20 system. Will that also come with the speed control?
Each pto should have their own adjustment..
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod awesome. Thanks
I would rather see a big ugly wire harness down the center of the tunnel of the interior of the cab then see all that sensitive wiring be in such a vulnerable place.
Very disappointed to see all that wiring in such a vulnerable spot.
we have a brake light on, but pto is not working. Would the solenoid be the issue in this case?
Most likely not
I have a 2019 Ford F650 ABS light is on I shorted something out and it blew the 70 amp relay now I cannot use my PTO and the air horn does not work
Ok
Is there anyway to increase the rpms for pto like every other diesel mine runs right at 1000 rpms.
Yes
Arod where are u located? I have pto issues with my 2011 f550
In the state that looks like the palm of ur right hamd
Where do you think the water intrusion came from?
Oeople with snowy boots
On my dodge ram 5500 my PTO don't work
Hi!where is the engine number location of ford f550 6.7 2019 model, thank you
What engine number
How do you turn the pto up to increase the bed speed mine barely moves
Shld b a lil tiny dial that u need to turn with a lil pocket screw driver...
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod awesome
I couldn't find anything on the pto on tranny
It's not on the transmission it's inside the truck brahh
Where did the water come from?
From snow and water runnin down from some wheres...peeps feet....thing was all muddy and what not..yeah rubner floors..i no likey
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod - I figured as much. There has got to be a way to prevent that from happening with rubber rugs and sometimes carpeted trucks. Keep the snow and mud off the passengers feet ? 😆
A-Rod out there making sure that the Super Dutys can go to WORK. I'm a little concerned about things of this nature occurring 23K mile '19...
We even get a "Frickin' A Rights" on this episode
I hope the Easter Bunny stops by your house G.
-Adrenacyde
Be safe and take care buddy from up there ehh...have a gr8 holiday
Where are you located my PTO dose not work
Detroit
Where did you go to school?
In the state that looks like a 🤚
I got a 16 f 650 tow truck having PTO issues
Ok......
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod wont turn on if you pump the brakes sometimes it works it gets torn apart works for a few days does it again randomly cuts off
Does it have air brakes
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod it does
I wld try the air brake speed control deactivation switch. Youll have to see which it is...there are like 3 little air solenoids right there near the brake master cylinder area. I can remember what color the air line was...i wanna say yellow...it was a while ago
Did you see the 2014 f450 on forza horizon 4
No i didn't??
Look it up 2014 terradyne gurkha lapv forza horizon 4 or 3
On RUclips
Lol ok i will
It a armored truck for military based off the 2014 f450 6.7l powerstroke 4x4
That's freaking brutal. Leave it to ford...
PTO on fords suck especially on tow trucks Ram has a much better set up
