    Great video! I have a 2016 F350 and pull a 5th wheel trailer with it, when we arrive at an rv spot we often idle the truck while setting up to keep our dog safe with the AC running, this will help keep the cab cooler and protect the EGR system from to much low idle time. Thank you for a VERY informitive video.

    Thanks for this video and diagram links! I just hooked up the high idle wiring on my 2015. Everything works but I noticed one thing maybe someone can shed some light on. As soon as I flip the switch (which I have under Aux #4 if that makes any difference) - the idle dips for literally 1 second before going to the correct RPM I wanted it at given the resistors I've used. I've been looking for videos to see if anyone else experienced that but all of them demonstrate a smooth increase. I clearly saw it happen with yours 25:15
    I"m using five 1k, 1/4 watt, 5% resistors - wired in series (it's what I had on hand and wanted to get it done finally). That means I have 5K in resistors giving me a 2k rpm idle. I probably could have made it 1800 rpm which would make the factory single alternator pump out the most amps. My only use for this would be to jump a semi truck once a year, if that. Any thoughts?

    • @MobileBusTech
      @MobileBusTech  2 года назад

      I am glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. I have occasionally had similar experience with the dip in rpms. I don't know for sure but I suspect it could be related to a cold start when the truck has been off overnight. I haven't given it a whole lot of thought as I figure something in the PCM triggers the dip :)

    • @MobileBusTech
      @MobileBusTech  2 года назад

      As for the 5 resisters and the 2K rpm... that sounds reasonable for jumping a semi, I would try to ensure the truck has warmed up a bit before flipping the switch so you don't cold start straight up to 2k rpms. You could always add a potentiometer to be able to vary the rpms as well if you wanted more control of rpm for different uses.

    • @goldtooth10
      @goldtooth10 2 года назад

      @@MobileBusTech Good tips for others but yes I agree. Only time I would use the 2k idle is after the truck is fully warmed up. Wouldn't want to shock the metals in temp going from a dead start in freezing temps to 200*. I've also considered putting in a potentiometer and checking if it would get rid of that rpm dip. Added bonus is adjustability.

    Awesome video. Im wanting to do the potentiometer but im unsure of which one to use. I guess the range of the potentiometer should be between 680 ohms and 50k ohms, but im having a hard time finding one that has that exact difference from one end to the other. Any chance you could clip a link to the correct potentiometer to use? I wont ever use any rpm over 1500 so if there is a potentiometer that would work between 900-1500 that would be great.

    I did this connected with the correct wires. And used a 20k .5 watt resistor. But it’s not working. I used aux switch number 4 and it’s not doing anything. Is there something I’m missing or can there be a fuse or something out possibly? I have lights on the aux switch but it doesn’t seem to put transferring power to the rpm pto through the resistor at all

    • @MobileBusTech
      @MobileBusTech  2 года назад +1

      Correct, the park brake must be set for the idle to ramp up. You could leave the switch in the on position all the time and the idle will only ramp up when the park brake is set. Also I think the idle ramps back down when the brake pedal is depressed.

    Help please idk what I did wrong I did this but my truck idle down Iam using switch 3 and I had a 1/4w 16k resistor and bUT the leads on the resistor were super tiny? Like really tiny can you tell me what resistor to use?
    Also I did white with brown stripe to solid green with the resistor in between and the switch wire ( looked to be purple with green stripe to the yellow with green stripe. Idk what’s wrong other then the lead size on the resistor?

    • @MobileBusTech
      @MobileBusTech  2 года назад

      Sounds like the circuits used are correct. If the resistor leads are short and you chose to solder, maybe the resistor overheated and is now bad? Also did you confirm with a meter before installing the resistor that it does read 16K ohms? Do you have the park brake applied when testing?
      The resistor kit I pulled from is in the description.

    • @MobileBusTech
      @MobileBusTech  3 года назад

      I do not... I looked through wiring diagrams and did not see any customer access connections similar to a Super Duty. You may be able to find a 3rd party module that will all you to control the idle. Intermotive.net makes tons of different products for Ford trucks/vans and may have an option for you to control Idle through the datalink connector. Most of their stuff is "plug and play". They have a high idle module listed for 16-17 not sure why 15 isn't included as I am under the impression 2015s are the similar enough. May be worth reaching out to them and asking if they offer a solution for what you are looking for.

    • @MobileBusTech

      It has multiple uses. Some include: raising rpms to increase alternator output for high amperage electrical loads (such as jump starting another vehicle, running an electric hydraulic pump for dump, electric wench, etc), For PTO driven accessories (such as air compressor, hydraulic accessories like dump bed, bucket lift etc), Cold weather warm up.

    • @MobileBusTech

      The lead length shouldn't matter. The longer ones make it a bit easier to connect to.

      @@MobileBusTech not the length the diameter of the leads are super tiny but I ended up finding some new 12k resistors that worked. the 11-16 model years are going to be wired similar to this video. If you have the switches and relays already in the truck then it should be just a matter of finding the Aux switch wires 1-4 under the dash where in this video I use the wire from switch 1 to enable the high idle. Be sure your light does not draw more current than the switch is allotted to handle.
