Excellent tips. Btw, when you choose an app from the circular menu, you don't have to tap the little icon. Just tap the name area on the centre of the screen to open it. No need to try to tap little icons which can be awkward with big fingers!
1. Closing apps manually won't save battery life. The OS is quite capable of doing that by itself. 2. Turning off BT doesn't save power because it's energy consumption is minimal by design. 3. Location is only used when using location based services. Turning it off isn't smart. If you follow all these recommendations you end up using your smart watch like a tamagochi. Is that smart?
I agree. What's the point of getting a SMARTWATCH? If your focusing only to save battery life better buy a real classic watch instead. Smartwatch is a smartwatch.
I'm disappointed I didn't read this comment before turing off the BT on my watch Arrggh!😡 So mad. this morning it wasn't connecting with my phone . I spend an 45 mins with customer service. They couldn't figure out what was the problem WHY my phone couldn't connect with my watch. . I was about to get it shipped off to get it repair. But then On my own🤔 I figure it out. It stop working after turning off the Bluetooth on the watch. Duh 😧. Once I turn it back on and had to reset the watch. it work again!. Geesh.
My S2 been sitting on the charger for a couple years. Looked online and the app for iPhone finally available . reset and sync but this morning the battery was dead in 4 hours . Found your vid and will Make “ some “ adjustments 😜 Thanks
Trish Holbrook works perfect now. I left Bluetooth on as I wanted it to work with iPhone when getting calls . Changing all the Notifications and brightness made a big difference . 25% battery loss in 8 hrs made a huge difference compared to 100% in 4 🤦♂️. It’s great now that i can look at my watch for text and calls 👍
I just got my watch this weekend. I can barely get two or three hours of battery life out of it before it dies. I'm going to be trying all of these tricks, thank you!
I've had my rose gold LTE version for a week now and I get just over 2 days battery life I have the watch face only on when I tilt my arm. Also it saves battery life if you use a black watch face
This was super helpful, thank you! I had researched articles on the topic of how to increase battery life, but nothing nowhere near this thorough or helpful.
You are so stupid. The point is not to have them turned off all the time, because it is a waste of battery. KEEP activated the features you wanr to use, when you USE them, not all the time.
Anyone else still have battery drain issues since the Feb 2021 update? I've done all these steps and my battery still doesn't last a full day Any other hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Awesome tips I especially like closing all apps.. it's tough to tell what's open, if anyone knows a way, please reply. Re: screen on/off, I turn it off completely so I have to use the lower button to switch on. Besides saving battery, if it flicks on when I'm sleeping, it wakes me up soketimes
incredible.. I just did what you actually said and now will wait until tomorrow morning to see that whether it works or not.. but I am sure its going to work.. Thanx for the information.
Thanks for the video, I have been struggling with the battery on this watch and I hope these changes help. I was hoping you were going to mention Shealth and its impact on the battery as that is the highest usage of battery according to the watch.
Thank you so very much this really helped me. My watch battery was running low I had to charge daily. I already had taken some stuff out but I guess still had some left. Thanks again loved the way you explained it nice enough to follow step by step. Again job well done !
It made me think. My battery died, (I hope), and I decided to change it. I will follow you advice of saving use of the battery with the new one. Good job, thanks.
Cool video, would have been great if you mentioned how much longer your battery lasted with all what you did VS not. If you mentioned it, I might have missed it.
Thanks. Useful to know when I get mine. How long were you finding battery life before and now? When used with reasonable usage, not all the time. Thanks
Hi. I want to use the LTE (i.e, eSIM) on this watch linked to primary SIM on my Samsung Note 9, and also enable bluetooth (at the same time) connected to my iPhone 8. Will I be able to do this (i.e., use LTE and bluetooth) and get calls, notifications from both Note9 and iPhone?
Thank you. Very informative. My battery has been draining very fast. I think It was because I had spotify running AND LTE. My phone is always with me unless I'm at the gym and I leave it in the locker.
You have to do a few things to get the battery life you hear about on those RUclips video's, even the 46mm version can benefit too. First, choose a simple, old fashion-style watch face (or one with few info widgets). Second, Turn Heart beat detection to ONCE every 10 minutes. Third, turn DOWN the screen brightness to #5 or less. By default the screen brightness is set to #6 or 7. Fourth, Deactivate the ALWAYS ON screen. In fact, switch it turn on when you move your wrist to view the time. Last but not least -Turn off or decrease the GPS usage - GPS on watches can really suck the battery dry, REALLY QUICK! Keep yourself from installing any apps or keep yourself from using apps on watch until you see how long you can use your watch before charging. ALSO, try to turn off the watch at end of your day. Take notice of your battery level at shut off. If you have done all this, you should see your battery levels decline by only about 20-25% per day of use. Once you get close to this goal, you can go crazy using your phone apps..just watch your battery usage so you can estimate how much longer you can go before needing a charge! 42mm typically can get ABOUT 2 Days of light use, 46mm models can get about 4 days. But you will get less than half if you use music apps or make a lot of phone calls or have the GPS always on.
Hi! I found your video very helpful. My watch battery has been very quickly dying in the past couple days. I think maybe the battery is dying. But I will re-watch your video and check the things you suggested. The watch is just under 2 years old. I think it's the same as yours. Thanks for all the little nuances to check. I did not know about quite a few of them, or how to turn them off.
Thanks looking forward to receiving my Galaxy watch and applying these battery saving methods. Saddly I'm in Canada and I only receive my preorder on the 21st of September... Keep up the good content!
My watch is just a nice looking tool, meant to keep my phone safe at work. I charged it once, 4 days ago and had 18% left. The watch charged really quickly too. Now, I just turn it off at night. Lol, I couldn't see myself sleeping with this 46mm anyway. It's way more watch than I need but it looks great and works perfectly. Great tips here! I think I'm the only one that likes the watch version of Bixby. Not so much on the phone though.
I never knew any of this. Thank you for the info. My battery life on my watch was like one day. I stopped wearing it but now with this info im going to test to see how long it lasts. Thanks agian.
Loved this vid. Always fun to find new tech. Your vids are easy to follow and pleasant to watch. 1 tip from my perspective is if you don't have stuff active or set up, a brief how to get there would help a bunch to find these settings. At least 2 or 3 tips helped me by the way, cheers!
Hi, i do not want to use all apps on the watch. I just need the stepcounter, watchface, timer and health function. Can i delete items that i do not want?
I will use most of you hints. Still i like the watch to wake up when i raise my arm. I do not need "always on". All the other things you mention i will turn off, too. Thanks for the video.
My watch not measure heart rate no more and it has a swimming icon next to it i have done the water eject thing and still no look do you think the sensors have broke
I had set most of these, but I didn't know you could turn Bixby off. So far it seems useless. I'm torn on the heart rate, Once I'm done playing with it so much I may set it to frequent, but for now it will stay off. An extra tip i'm sure turning off the ticking sound helps save some battery.
Thank you for the tips. I turned off Bluetooth and had it on network only and it actually ran down the battery faster. I will try to turn off others as suggested because for now my battery only lasts eight hours or less.
Only turn your Bluetooth off when it's not being connected to your phone. If you have your phone connected to your watch by Bluetooth it will use less battery then when it's using cellular. Cellular should only be used when you don't want to bring your phone with you.
I just got the 42mm and it literally can not last even a full 5 hours. Did a factory reset and still had the same issue so I went back and got a new one. Hopefully this helps because when I track my th watch it loosed 1% every 6 minutes and when I check to see what's draining it is just the watchface which is ridiculous because I'm not even on anyother apps.
With the heart rate sensor set to off, would it still automatically track heart rate during runnning? This is one of the features I am disappointed not to have on my Garmin, as the HR sensor drains a lot of battery.
I am torn between the Bluetooth version & the LTE version - £100 difference is quite steep for just LTE. Can LTE be switched off when you want to? Would having it connected by Bluetooth to your phone switch LTE off or would it prioritise Bluetooth over LTE (making LTE passive not active - reducing battery consumption) ?
I keep everything on its a smart watch? When you have your phone with you switch to aeroplane mode if not switch aeroplane off and away you go a smart watch. not expensive timex

Right - the Location thing is a holdover from Android 2.x as is closing apps.

Thank you for showing. I took down the screen light to 3. It was up to 6!
Wow mines at 8
Turning off BT means no messages, calls, app notifications on your watch...so what's the point of having the watch?
Not true. You get messages and calls if you have LTE version.
It only applies for lte version. But if you have a bluetooth version you want the bluetooth turned on all the time to receive notif from your phone
@@jgabriel1625 Don't know why people would ever buy just the bluetooth version. At that point I'd might as well just pull out my phone.
you can see the time!

Absolutely brilliant👍 recommend doing this for everyone I've just changed watch out for a new one and had to repeat the same process again, 🤘
One more tip. Go to settings and find battery and select optimize battery
Thank you - appreciate you sharing these details... I have just got a new galaxy watch and your advise will surely help. God bless
Enjoy your new watch, Thank you for your support and glad it helped you.

I purchased the 42 " rose gold and love it yes a very nice watch. Thanks again.
Hallo. Thanks for your tipps.
I will try them.
Great insight into all these features. Thanks!! I am seriously considering this watch and will refer back to this video for these settings.
Thanks for the tip on Bixby. I have not used it anyway.
simple commands like, "set alarm at ...," or "send text messages to ... " work well with my Gear S3 Frontier (prior to Bixby, Galaxy Watch).
Bixby on the watch is useless I asked it "what's the weather like" it's reply was "check on phone" what a load of bollox 😂
Just take out Wake up on gesture. As in this comment I have 26% left and on 3rd day 22hours 38 minutes. And I have 20 hours left in battery life.
Do you mean touch to wake up
@@nicksigalas4498 No, im talking about when you do your wrist movement to see the time it wakes up automatically there is a setting to turn that off.
Does that really make that big of a difference?
