I've followed 90% of what's shown in the video and the battery life _did_ improve, but not as much as it's claimed here. Only managed to make it to 35 hours. It never reaches two days even with most of these features turned off.

Thanks, but I went to Settings\Accessibility\Advanced settings (11:43) and the only options that appear there are Accessibility shortcuts, Vibration watch, and Time to take action. If I tapped on Accessibility shortcuts, Grayscale does not appear (although it surprises me that color would use more energy). Another thing that relates to the extra charger concept is Wireless PowerShare (but you probably discuss elsewhere and it's more of a phone feature). We recently stayed at a hotel that didn't have USB charging in the room (and I didn't being a laptop), so I had to use my S22 to charge my GW4. Nice feature to have!
Excellent set off suggestions, I have used quite a few of them. The only point is if I have spent around $350/- for a smartwatch, then I'd expect it to provide some of the capabilities on the fly. Some of them, like AOD or continuous heart and Stress measurements, etc., can be avoided, but LTE connectivity and wake-up on wrist movements are essential for the Watch. Watch wise it is a brilliant watch, but Battery wise, it really sucks. I actually thought, it will be better because the new chip is more efficient
Got mine 15.12.21 and repaired twice. Battery last 28-29 hrs before n now about 25hrs with almost everything turned off. It's now a sleep watch instead of a smart watch.
I set mine up how I like to use it with little concern for battery life and ended up having it run about 3 days before I charged it. Now I just charge it every time I shower and never worry about it.
That's the way to do it. I didn't trust the "use it normally, charge it at 5% and just give it some days " advice but I did and it went from 11 to 14 to 18 to 30 hrs in the last week.
Really thank you for this video! I had my doubts on whether I should get the Galaxy Watch 4, but replying with the Gboard and the swype gesutres looked great, and before buying it, I found your video, which relaxed me quite a lot in regard of the battery life. Now I've just finished customizing my Watch 4 with your tips and I'm looking forward to at least 1-2 comfortable days of battery life!
@@zilmerx1652 I'm quite satisfied, to be honest! Using the watch from around 8am to 11pm every day I never worry about battery life, it always reaches the end of the day with around 35% battery on busy days (when I register my workouts), sometimes 60 or 70% if I barely used it (if I only looked at the time and notifications). Apps work great too, though bear in my mind I'm not a super heavy user like others. I don't pay with the watch, I don't play music directly from there (I still use the media controls when I use my phone, though), I don't monitor my sleep or my oxygen levels, I don't connect it directly to the wifi unless there's an update (I think it's better to do wifi stuff with the phone only) and of course mine doesn't use a sim card. Instead, I check the time and weather, reply to messages with Gboard, register my workouts (1-2 hours every day), occasionally use maps for 30 minutes a day and I see my notifications. Oh and I indeed have my always on display activated and sometimes I have animated or colored watch faces, at the highest brightness. And it works really great for me. And without ever using the power saving options of the watch, only some of the tips in this videos :) If you want to use absolutely everything the watch offers, chances are you'll struggle with the battery. @@jas350 I turned off different things and noticed a huge difference for example, where Google listens for "hey google" you can turn it off and also the constant heart rate monitoring, and turn off raise to wake and reduce screen brightness. It's work by reduce brightness, use it with not more than 50%. And changed in to short vibrate type. AOD and full notification, 11 hours only 45%. Amazing 😁
Ok, I have reset my Samsung Galaxy S20 and Classic 46mm Gone through all these settings and added the watch face that has NO updates/refresh requirements and clear recent apps function. So he's charging it multiple times a day. That's not getting 4 days of battery life. I bought the 42mm version and had everything here mentioned turned off. It still never lasted more than 12 hours before needing a charge. With my watch 3 I would charge it while showering in the morning and have about 40% left 24 hrs later after using it for sleep tracking and after exercising the next morning before I showered. With the 4, it had less than 10% battery left in the morning before exercising after charging it to 100% during dinner the night before, so I had to charge it before exercising. I returned it and kept the 3.
Awesome video. Thank you. It is very helpful. Your tips are are extremely helping me, thanks. I just got my Samsung galaxy watch 4 classic for Christmas and really like it. I am learning stuff about it new, every day. Thank you again.
Nice video. Hopefully this makes it last longer. Just bought my watch and it's only lasting not even a day. I don't use most of these features so Hopefully it helped.
1 thing I forgot when I received my gw4 is to charge it first before turned it on. My watch shocked me... when its installing and said battery only 5%. Omg...
Basically, Samsung's solution for phones or watches has always been the same. Make your phone/watch a brick and you will have long battery life. I have used Samsung phones and I always carry a battery pack or giant heavy battery cover for my phone.
Do you experience any temporary screen burn when using AOD? I noticed burn in after just a couple days using my watch, so I returned it and got a new one, but I'm still having the same issue with the new one.
@@xian3000 when you're in-doors manually set brightness to just bellow 3 o'clock, outdoors keep it around 5, i also notice slight burn-in but barely visible on max "flashlight mode" brightness

Many thanks for all related videos :> I had a GW2 years ago and have long since mislocated it, alas, mayhaps in storage~ My kith and kin all wear their AppleWatches so it reminded me of my GW2, and spurred me to buy the newest model, which I might buy the GW5 later in year as well, and aside hoping to secure an illusive Fold4 ^^;; I hooked into the Note series with 2, then 4, and now 9, though it seems the Note series has ended, though hopefully the Fold series includes a built-in slot for S-Pen.
In newest uodate there is no longer option as two finger shortcut. I stead, you can use tripple home button shortcut to setup a greay scale. All you need is to presetup grey scale in the color correction setting
Thanks for al lof these tips. They are really helpful in increasing battery time. I have one more thing that is bothering me. I dont seem to be able to switch off media controls in the watch. It keeps popping up. As soon as I start streaming music, listen to a book or whatever, the media controls pop up on my phone (with the blue music note at the bottom) and start draining my battery. Do you have any idea if this can be solved and how?
Don't buy watch 4... a failure n disappointment despite a SS supporter. Got mine repaired twice in 6 weeks. Battery last 28-29hrs with almost everything turned off. It's now a sleep watch.
I had a 4 for a week before deciding to stick with the 3. The screen is a little sharper and the apps a little better on the 4, but the battery life is so terrible that it can really only be used as a dumb watch. I have some heart issues and needed continuous heart rate monitoring. Turning that to manual might have given it adequate battery life, along with turning off all these other features, but I wasn't willing to do it, so the 4 went back and I kept the 3. If they enable BP measurement in the US I might consider trying it again.
You're lucky to get the watch4 returned. Local SS outlets don't allow returns or exchange but to send in for repair (what to repair for poor battery life) until warranty runs out.
Thanks for great video and lot advice ! I want ask you just one questin if you have a time to answer (because is very important not only for me, for everybody). If I turn "battery saving" to ON, can I receive all the notifications to watch (in vibration of course) or not ? Because I saw in your video when you turn on battery saver, in description get info "inactive all background activity" - is it that mean or not ? And also is it stop measure heart rate every 10 min ? (I ask you this because I have a problem with my pulse or heart rate). Sorry for disturbing you and best regardr and best wishes to you and your family ! THANKS if you answer ! 🏆👍🏆
I don't know about new Apple watches but I had Watch 4 which never went beyond one day or maximum 1 and half day. I think this watch too with usual settings will last for one day which is ok I think. Or am I missing something? To which long lasting watches people are comparing this Galaxy Watch 4?
Thanks for all the tips, but the pro tip is just to not buy. It's a smartwatch you should have all settings on and not be concerned about battrytime. Samsung should make it bigger or thicker to get more battery. And if they do I'll gladly buy one.
So you basically set your watch up in a way that uses the most battery and then turned everything off in the video and say this will save battery life. The settings you have are not even the default settings.
Most of these settings were already applied on my watch. My watch still dies super fast even with me changing the very few settings to match what this video says. Plus, he's still charging the watch everyday....If you're looking to buy the 4, DON'T!!

I hope this does the trick for me. Thanks for the tips I just got my watch and it felt like the first cycle from 85 to 40 percent went way to quick
Nice video. Hopefully this makes it last longer. Just bought my watch and it's only lasting not even a day. I don't use most of these features so Hopefully it helped.
The biggest drain that I experienced on my Watch4 Classic: Wi-Fi.
Excellent info and video! Thanks!
Outstanding video... Thank you for taking the time to make it!
Like many here.. just want to say THANK YOU.
Are you using Bright watch faces? If so with aod it would burn in quite quickly indeed, it is an oled screen after all
@@zehph I'm using the stock Samsung "Simple" watchface with auto brightness.
@@xian3000 when you're in-doors manually set brightness to just bellow 3 o'clock, outdoors keep it around 5, i also notice slight burn-in but barely visible on max "flashlight mode" brightness
@@xian3000 consider switching off aod every once in a while, i noticed it somewhat heals itself a bit idk. Just checked and it's more noticeable than before even with using "lowest aod" brightness LOL, my watch is 3 months old tho. It is also noticeable only when using flashlight normally it doesn't make a problem
I bought 2 of these so I’m never out of battery.
I bought 3 chargers, perhaps your method is better ;)
Most useful tips - thanks heaps!!
this is absolutely great. thank you.
I uzed these tips on ultra watch. Lets see how it goes. Thank you.
Thanks mate, it helps a lot.
Great tips that still apply to the newer Watch 5. Big thumbs up.
Awesome thank you directly to the point
I think your US watches are different though as a lot of settings - those for bixby for example - don't seem to exist or are very different elsewhere.
This is the best video about battery life tips and tricks!
Instead why not Samsung henceforth add a 200 mah more In the phone and take back the dying watches bought by customers ? It's simple and positive !
This watch arrives over the next 2 days. Great food for smartwatch thought.
It's working. Thanks a lot.😊😊😊😊😊
I'm having a screen burn-in unfortunately is it normal on OLEDS or do I need to change the watch?
Great video. So many helpful tips. Just today l was wondering how to turn off the maps navigation on the watch.
I'm gonna end up saving tons of battery life whenever I get my new Watch 4 Classic. I care about nothing besides the time and seeing some messages.
Great video. Really help me alot with my watch.
Thanks
Great tips, thanks dude. Its helpful
In newest uodate there is no longer option as two finger shortcut. I stead, you can use tripple home button shortcut to setup a greay scale. All you need is to presetup grey scale in the color correction setting
Awesome info. Thank you!
Thank you.
It really helped my watch last longer, thank you man . Any tips for s20 phone ?
Have you tried these recently?
I'm curious on how much do I save by turning off the heart rate with newer software etc
Great stuff man, thanks
Great video. Thank you!
I still have 3...not sure why I need to up grade yet...thanks for the info was helpful
If you want Google apps
🏆👍🏆
So we have to go from smart watch functions to regular watch functions in order to have a decent battery life... damn
So helpful!!! And that Gboard app is such a great thing. Thank~you so much! :-)
I get 2 days of battery with no charging in between with my galaxy watch 4
I have almost the same settings you recommend to safe the battery but still 1,5 day usige
I shut everything down n got 2 full days battery life 🤣🤣
Before i did this video i already had the energy saver, should i turn it off and do the things by my self?
best tutorial ever! tks mate!
Thanks!
thank you love you so much
Received mine just an hour ago and binging your videos lmao
I confused which one buy to watch 4 or watch 4 classic. I want to good battery life
So you basically set your watch up in a way that uses the most battery and then turned everything off in the video and say this will save battery life. The settings you have are not even the default settings.
exactly
Most of these settings were already applied on my watch. My watch still dies super fast even with me changing the very few settings to match what this video says. Plus, he's still charging the watch everyday....If you're looking to buy the 4, DON'T!!
Thanks 🙏
Love You From India
How did you get your watch to say Tech in the Watchface? Thanks!
Doese this work with the gw4 42mm or gw4 classic 42mm?
Thanks for the info 👍
Love this video!
Hi i have watch 4 lte, and issue is it's display not turning off by palm, what to do?
do alarms work in watch only mode? might be good for sleeping if tracking isn't needed.
