- Samsung just launched the Samsung Galaxy Watch, and while we've now rebranded and lost the Gear moniker, it is definitely their newest flagship wearable.
They were kind enough to let me use one (after they tried to kill me in a workout first) so I figured I'd try and do a complete walkthrough on it for you guys.
If you aren't familiar, a complete walkthrough on my channel is where I try and go through every feature I can on a device so you guys are better informed should you be in the market to go buy one.

I have the smaller version (42mm) and I get into a 3rd day before needing a charge.
Some quick tips on better battery performance.
1. Turn OFF wifi (there is no use for it as your always connected via bluetooth on your phone).
2. Turn OFF GPS (turn it on only when you need it)
3. Keep brightness below 5 and have "auto low brightness" ON
4. Clear "Recent apps" under settings whenever multiple apps open.
5. If you don't use the heart rate monitor turn it off or keep it at every 10 minute interval.
6. Use watch face that is dominantly black and be cautious of which watch faces you use as some consume a lot more battery than others.
7. Keep widgets to a minimum.
8. Turn OFF "Voice wake-up"

Where to check if heart rate monitor is always on or off?
@@limkientiong when you're in the measure heartrate window there's three little dots to the right where you can select the frequency (always on, every 10 minutes and OFF).

At first, I was skeptical about this watch. I was leaning towards a wear os watch, because of the app support. But, I saw many reviews of this and bought the 42mm version and I can say that I'm truly impressed! This does everything a watch should do, including receiving/making phone calls and replying to all types of notifications!

I'm wearing a G-Shock from 2013 and now it's the time for me to switch to the Galaxy Watch 46mm. Having a S10+ and Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch and a Wireless Charger duo is a great combo :)

Been wearing my 46 mm for 6 months .I have a collection of a dozen automatic watches which I still love but never wear anymore .Best watch ever ,never ever get bored with it ,

I have the 46mm...with Always On turned off, sleep tracking and moderate use I get a solid 3 days.
Can this watch used to navigate with google map?
There are some third party apps that will do it but I've not tested it.

@@randyburhan2745 It can track thru Google Maps, it already can be done since Gear S2 like a long times ago
Ah.... Google Maps doesn't work on Tizen. There are third-party apps that work with GMaps through the watch, but they KILL the battery, and often quit mid-route. For a seamless experience, only HERE MAPS has a Tizen app that works beautifully on the watch.

I have a 42mm rose gold Galaxy Watch, and I love it. Mine came with a beige band. If I could have chosen other band colors, I didn't know it. However, I replaced the band with some darker Barton watch bands, and I think the watch looks great for men or women. I also have a Gear S3 Frontier, and choose to wear either watch depending on the occasion. For those who have a Gear S3, the features of the new watch probably do not demand an upgrade. However, in my case, the 42mm Galaxy watch fits me better, and I like the gold color.
I'll be honest, this was great and very helpful, but if you could slow down just a hair that would be great. I think you just talk too fast for me. I had to pause and toggle back a lot. Thank you though for this info. All very helpful. I like how in depth you went into the watch.
Love the walk through I was going to buy it anyways but I prefer to know as much about it and every nook and cranny before I do

Was hoping for a more indepth tutorial on how to do specific functions. Just opened the box and would be nice to have a clearer explanation on things like: calling "favorited" contacts
I have a Gear S3 and the only thing I don't like is the battery only last 10hrs before needing to be charged and I replaced the battery, and cut off alot of options. So I ordered this watch to see if there is a big difference. Thanks for your review.
Good vid. Just got myself one for Christmas, had to get the wife one also! We had Apple watches back when we both had iPhones, but having our S8+'s, now Samsung watches, we're both liking them much more
The 42 mm is the perfect choice for you ,it seems most reviewers of these watches have small wrists and the 46 mm look like dinner plates so I was pleasantly surprised when I tried one on that 46 mm was fine on me .Just a pity both sizes dont come in both colours as a plain steel always looks the best and the most versatile .which is why 90 % of watches are like this,
I'm a watch lover and only use my phone for calls texts and whatsapp normally so the Galaxy is perfect for me with so many useful features i will def use but if you are a big app user and live on google assistant then the TicWatch Pro is the watch for you ,

My husband and I are definitely SENIOR citizens. We were so frustrated with trying to figure out how to use them, that we were going to return both watches on Monday. Your video changed my mind - it was very informative, but we need more detailed information. Why does the temperature on our watches differ by at least 8 degrees, even though we are setting next to each other?

Hello please i have the watch and texting or typing has been a bigger problem for me. Like when i want to type "k" and i click the bottom two times. It gives me something different. How can i change that please. Nice video tho

You should include reviews of the heart rate monitoring and screen brightness outdoors. Other than that, this is the best review/walkthrough on RUclips.
I had the 42mm but the battery barely lasted me a day so I returned it and got the 46.
Was at 90% at end of day with the 46mm with the same setting, usage and watch face.
The difference in performance led me to believe my 42mm had to be defective. I know the 46mm has a bigger bettery but couldn't make that much of a difference.
Yeah, alot of people seem to be having that problem, but when they ask samsung on forums, they are ignored and samsung says it is solved.

Going through in more detail would be overkill and something that needs to be left to users being able to use it for themselves to learn. :-)

This is one of the best reviews I've ever seen on the web regarding the Watch. Nice Watch with lots of features, but I'm sticking to my Amazfit Bip.

Dont shower with this watch, it will break the motion sensor. The raise wrist to see the screen breaks. Mine came back on thank god but will no longer shower or swim w it. Too expensive for features that are supposed to be present to not work at 350. When I bought it. Other than that I love LOVE this watch! Got the black one as well. Amazing and looks so good!

Wonderful review. You are quite detailed and your content is very well assembled. I wish some aspects were able to be a bit more detailed in terms of phone use thru watch...BT versus LTE.
I was just about to buy one. but it doesn't support Google assistant.... I won't so many people complaint about Bixbi that Samsung use.... at least if it give us to choose witch one to install at start-up. so I'll go with an other brand.
How do you receive or make a phone call?
You have to have the LTE version do you know which version you have?
I do not have LTE version. I have BT version. As long as my Note9 is with me I can initiate and receive calls on the watch directly without interfacing with the phone. Nice feature. I sometimes wish that I had purchased the LTE version but would require another phone charge monthly.

Hi, can someone clarify if there is a 46mm model as stated in the video?? I’ve just checked Samsung’s website and it only has the 42mm model in black, silver and rose gold??? I’ve seen on other videos that it only comes in 42mm.
Thank you for the great review! I'm planning to get the galaxy watch but i was bothered with a lot of user's review regarding the HRM sensor on the SGW because HRM is a big deal breaker for me. I'm hoping for your inputs regarding the "guidelines" samsung wote below: I've read the official "release notes" from Samsung Website. These maybe the reasons why you had an inaccurate results for the HRM.
*If heart rate measurements are taken at low temperatures, the result may be inaccurate.
*Do not move your body while taking heart rate measurements. Doing so may cause your heart rate to be recorded inaccurately.
*Users with thin wrists may receive inaccurate heart rate measurements.
If the measurement is very different from the expected heart rate, rest for 30 minutes and measure it again.
*Measurements are calculated using average values and may need to be repeated at least five times. During winter or in cold weather, keep yourself warm when measuring your heart rate.
*Smoking or consuming alcohol before taking measurements may cause your heart rate to be different from your normal heart rate.
*Do not talk, yawn, or breathe deeply while taking heart rate measurements.
*If your heart rate is extremely high or low, measurements may be inaccurate.
*Heart rate measurements taken for infants and toddlers may be inaccurate.
Can you tell me how it compares to a Garmin Fenix 5 in terms of use for triathlon training and racing? ie. does the GPS work in water, ie to track open water swimming, not just pool where the GPS is disabled and it measures laps of a known distance.

For this watch now being 4 years old, it gives up very little in the way of features to today's versions. I like it's simplicity of use even now.

You're wrong this isn't the first watch to have 5atm... My gear sport also has 5ATM rating. Good review though.
True but they technically wasn't really marketing the gear sport as a smart watch tho

How good is the Bluetooth connectivity with headphones? Do they cut off like the Garmin music models do when worn on the opposite of the receiver side?

Does the duo fast charger actually charge the watch any faster than the included charger? I heard it takes like 2 hours to charge fully, the 46mm one atleast.
