    When you mate the galaxy watch with the galaxy phone it's seamless. you rarely have to pull your galaxy phone out and greatly reduces the opportunity to damage your phone. Well worth owning.

    Excellent review and covers everything important.I think most reviewers of this watch have tiny wrists because when I went to try the 46 mm on [before buying online for $230] I was surprised it's not really that big on me at all and the screen size looks about the same as all of my dive watches so wouldn't want it any smaller . Just a pity plain steel isn't an option for both sizes as always looks better and more versatile.

    Very good review, thanks. I'm still happy with my 42mm rose gold Galaxy Watch. The GPS was working fine until a few days ago. Now, when I start a bike ride, the GPS indicator flashes for a minute or two, until it finds my position. From then on, it seems to work fine. But, I like the looks of the gold watch, and it fits me better than my Gear S3. I still sometimes use my Gear S3 Frontier on days like today, when I've been out shopping and want to use Samsung Pay on my watch. Just in terms of features, I don't see much reason for Gear S3 users to upgrade to the Galaxy Watch. I do enjoy having the choice however.

    • @TheJabberTech
      @TheJabberTech  5 лет назад

      appreciate it Robert! Yes always good to have options with tech. Sammy is pushing updates to GPS so I'm sure they are aware of the issues but all seems OK now.

    ONE of the most important features on any of these smart watches is the voice feature, which is subpar compared to google assistant and Siri. Very surprising coming from Samsung. But Bixby on the phone is not very good either. Instead of spending so much time on voice assistants, just use Google's.

    Good review. You've covered pretty much everything. As for the battery life, I get 4 days plus a few hours sometimes with moderate use (checking notifications, health/workout alerts, heart rate monitoring, etc.). I could probably get 5 days if I don't wear it all the time maybe. But having 4 days battery life I'm not asking for more. I was getting up to 2 days (barely) on my previous smartwatch (Zenwatch 3) and it didn't have even half of the features the Galaxy Watch has. I had to ditch the Zenwatch 3 eventually due to serious battery charging issues which turned the watch practically unusable.

    I purchased this watch about 3 months ago and was pretty pleased with it... At first. Didn't take long to become apparent how inaccurate it is. The step function is a bit of a joke, often recording steps when sat completely motionless in a car, on a train etc. On a recent 45min drive whilst sat motionless in the back seat, I apparently walked over 850 steps! Sleep walking perhaps?
    Speaking of sleep... The sleep function is just as inaccurate, frequently telling me I've had an hour or two sleep when I'm wide awake at work! Hope my boss doesn't see it!? Obviously, it measures a low 'resting' heart rate and assumes one has fallen asleep. Cycling, well this really is bizarre... often informs me I have ridden several kilometres, problem is that I don't even own a bike! Then we come to the swimming function... Oh boy, this is way out by hundreds of metres.
    All in all, it's just another gimmicky device they've got us to purchase, probably knowing full well it is not accurate. Into the junk draw it goes....

    I just bought the 42mm.for xmas . I had to exchange the first one as the pedometer and sleep monitor did not work. This new one has same issues with pedometer but the sleep monior seems to work better. I have a fitbit and a garmin. Wearing this with one of those and it gets half the steps of the other devices. This has been consistent even if I change to my dominant arm. It is a let down as part of owning the watch is using it as a sports watch. I love it for all other features. It says it is up to date so frustrated with this issue and wearing two devices.

    Thank you for the great review. Please could somebody comment on how well the automatic sleep app works with updating Samsung health, especially capturing naps. At the moment I use sleep as an Android on my S8 Samsung phone to track my sleep. The problem is I have to put the phone on my bedside table and tell it in advance that I'm about to sleep. I have a lot of problems sleeping and so it's very important for me to be able to analyse when I've been napping. I don't know in advance when I'm going to nap as I often fall asleep in front of the telly. I would love a watch to be able to automatically detect and record this on Samsung health.

    I can look past the price ($549 in Australia) and maybe the HRM issue is not so widespread, and it would be a good smartwatch (Gear S3 owner myself). But I didn't like S voice on the Gear S3 and now they call it Bixby. I never used Bixby on my Note 9 and I am really disappointed that Samsung has not improved on Bixby on this smartwatch.
    I have no problem with Tizen. But Bixby (basically a renamed S voice) is my biggest issue. Sadly I'd rather stick with my Gear S3. I do hope Samsung releases a big update for the Galaxy Watch. But for now, I will skip this smartwatch because it's not for me. As much as I want to convince myself to love this smartwatch, I just can't.

    This is my first smartwatch, so maybe I'm lacking perspective but I like everything about the watch. Bixby has worked great for what I do with it. I don't use it on my Note 9 though. Only thing I'd like to see is a way to turn off all health monitoring. The watch doesn't know if it's on you or not, if it's not in the cradle and a green light shoots out for a while. I have the heart monitoring set to never but the default tracker keeps checking on me. 25 years in the gym..I stopped tracking things long ago, lol. 5 days battery for me. What I don't understand is why people that charge their phone daily/ nightly don't like charging the watch. If you sleep with it (how?) I can see but of you don't it's probably in the cradle anyway, plugged in or not. Anyway, it's great not to have to run across the room or come down from a ladder to check my phone while on the jobsite. That alone, instantly makes it worth every penny.

      @JR-zw2vb 5 лет назад

      What's your setting?
      If I put my Frontier S3 to watch only mode, it lasts 40+ days. Battery save mode will last several days, and a smartwatch mode, at least 2+ days. It all depends on the setting. Depending on what the apps are doing in the background, battery life differs. You can see it on Gear app, settings. Or you got a lemon?

    Don't buy this watch if you plan to swim with it. Mine went into an infinite reboot loop while I was swimming laps at my local YMCA. It was still in the warranty period, but the warrantey does not cover water damage. Samsung wanted $430 to repair it, which was substantially more than the purchase price. I find it remarkable that Samsung sells a sports watch with a swim mode, but does not cover water damage under the warranty.
