Great video as always! I'd love for you to delve into the alleged synergy between the galaxy watches and the galaxy ring. The combination supposedly makes the measurements more accurate and makes the devices' batteries last longer.
Yes, but they are so pretty close with their results so you can call them even. The more interesting thing is that how even old Apple Watch is far better than newest Samsung watches… 😮
I think you need a larger control group, there's a lot of factors at play that are unique to you and how the sensors interact with you, you would establish a better average using a larger control group across say 3 people at least
Maybe a good comparison is the initial test vs. the tests of all the devices to compare software maturity, or we wait for the long term comparison...also, why no running on the tests?
The graph comparing multiple smartwatches seems to have made an accurate comparison but it is not so. This is because all watches were not tested with the same protocol and performed the same exercise at the same time zone. It makes no sense to believe this data as the subject pool was actually one person. Measuring ppg signals requires a sample size of over 100 people for basic comparisons.
I know some of these stats seem to be a bit inaccurate, but look at how accurtae they are as a whole. I mean if your like most runners and run 3-5 miles, a few times week, the distance will be within 0.1 miles of your milage ran, pretty great. Same for the HR tracking, most people use HR when doing steady state Zone 2 cardio, trying to stay within a certian area, these watches will achieve that.
I think most people are disappointed with the results compared to other brand watches, Samsung needs to do better, even Google has came closer in accuracy than Samsung.
@@MrSecretwest I agree, I'm also disappointed, but I'm just trying to make a point that even though these are not the most accurate, they are definitely accurate enough for most people, outside of serious athletes. With that being said, I have a hard time paying this much when I can get a Garmin Forerunner 965 or Garmin Venu 3 that is more accurate and has 90% of the smart watch capability, with 1-2 weeks of battery life.
I used all three, Garmin, Apple and Samsung, Samsung isn't even close to the other two for results. Samsung watch told me I only burned 200 calories for a 5k run, the other two had me closer to 500. Forget any type of weightlifting metrics, not even close to having any type of recorded workout. I can understand a small percentage here and there but Galaxy watches are super unreliable especially when you start hitting 10k runs or rucks.
I think most people seem to have forgotten that these watches are not suppose to be as accurate as actual medical devices. If you read the packaging it makes this point very clear.
I love these videos and truly appreciate all the hardworking that goes into these. These comparisons are freaking amazing. Thank you so much for your time
Will this be good for Gym workouts tracking and general health trackings as i only have a samsung device and don't have much time left because the offers ends 😢
I wonder what's making it impossible for them to achieve a similar performance to the apple watch or some of the best Huawei watches when it comes to the HR sensor.
Most people are not professional athletes. They will never fully use these health tracking features. Samsung unders this well that is why they don't waste resources on this. If you want an accurate reading, go to a hospital and use proper medical equipment.
I am wondering the same question. Due to difference in battery size, and L1+L5 mode probably more battery consuming than L1 only, maybe the Watch 7 40/44 mm defaut setting is different from Watch 7 Ultra defaut setting, regarding GPS tracking precision.
www.youtube.com/@TheQuantifiedScientist Could you please give the setup of both your Galaxy Watch 7 40 mm and your Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra, during the GPS tests, regarding the GPS accuracy tracking ?
Great video. Disappointed with the results for the two watches. What I look for in a watch is: 1. Android (not an Apple user) 2. 7 to 10-day battery life (so even if I was an Apple user, I wouldn't like to use Apple watches) 3. Great heart rate measurement and sleep tracking (don't care about GPS) 4. Form factor of a regular watch (round screen, big enough for my wrist - don't like smart bands or rings). It seems to me that, as of today, there are no options available in the market that fit all 4 criteria. Garmin Venu 3 is the closest, but even that is a bit too far from the top of sleep trackers for my taste.
@@danielmoksmann5654 you'll be waiting for a while and probably after Apple has achieved it. Until then you're just asking for a fitness tracker, any cheap one will do.
@@superiortoall22 As I said, the Garmin Venu 3 is the closest to what I want - don't really care about the Fitbits or other fitness trackers, it needs to look like a regular watch.
I already bought it trading 5 pro. I'm only going to use it for outdoor cycling, hiking, and running. I'm disappointed that accuracy is still the same. This means the spare is at fault. I hope they tweak the software, but I'm not going to update again unless they drastically improve the accuracy. Even 5 pro is good enough if i hadn't updated.
Hey Rob, thanks for testing and sharing the results so swiftly! I adore your work just because you are doing a great job keeping it as scientific as it can be! Looking forward seeing your next videos before I purchase the Galaxy Watch 7!
Waiting for the full review. Maybe some firmware and software updates. But tbh, I'm not holding my breath. It's good to see that they've improved over the previous generation, but still not as consistent as the Apple Watch 9. Which is SAD because I daily Android.
It seems UI 7 is about to be launched in August, and maybe it will improve measurements. I received the 7 Ultra yesterday, and I see no big differences with the 5 pro I had. Same issue on body composition vs an "8 electrodes/2 different currents" scale (the watch recognizes a part of the skeletic muscle as body fat ~2%). Also a bad measurement during a cycle training yesterday which stopped at 5min (didn't notice until I finished. Maybe I've done something wrong?) It has never happened with the 5 pro. GPS is ok. That's why I strongly think a software improvement is on the way as they cannot keep these "average" measurement though they have top notch hardware.
@TheQuantifiedScientist I own and use at the moment: 1. Apple Watch SE (2022). 2. Fitbit Sense 2. I want to buy a replacement watch for Fitbit Sense 2 to connect to my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. What choices I have ? I was thinking for Polar Ignite 3 or Google Pixel or Samsung Watch 7 ?
Also the pixel watch 3 is coming out in 3 weeks, you could wait for the review but the 2 is already more accurate than any galaxy watch. Also Polar make good heart tracking devices but their watches are super inaccurate
Great analytics. I heard from other sources too that it was not great. Your recommended videos to watch was not on the screen. Keep up the great work...
Thank you for test. After watching your channel, 5 days ago, I cancelled my Samsung 7 ultra watch preorder. I still have the 5 pro though but thinking to move away from Samsung due to GPS system inaccuracy as well as sleep tracking.
Rob, absolutely amazing analysis. As a fellow Engineer and Bodybuilder I commend you on the work that you consistently do. I've also been consistently using Samsung devices since 2014 and after the abysmal performance metrics you showcased with the Galaxy Watch 6 I almost jumped ship - but I stuck it out....but I'm hanging on a thread and now realizing I may jump off. With that out of the way - what do you recommend from all your previous testing that is the best SMARTWATCH for WEIGHT LIFTING only? Thank you for your time and keep up the ultra informative work you are doing! Godspeed!
If you don't mind being closed off in Apple, then yeah the Apple watch. I use it for weightlifting and honestly, flying, to measure my vitals taking Gs.
You had me at the start there. It looked like Samsung had turned a corner and finally made an accurate watch but as the video progressed it became evident that it’s just as bad or worse than previous Samsung watches 😅
If you need accurate heart rate reading just get a heart rate monitor band.... If you want a perfect GPS reading then get a "proper training watch" .. Garmin, suunto, coros watch will give you all you want...
I'm 70 years old and heavily invested in the Samsung ecosystem (Galaxy Watch Ultra, S23 Ultra and Buds 3 Pro). I'm more concerned these days with monitoring my vitals than training for my next biathlon. This is a great video to let me know the accuracy of the Watch Ultra. Well done!
Is there any improvement with the Galaxy 6 Classic? (Health wise, heart tracking just for the regular things, as walking or sitting, and Sleeping tracking). Would love a reply.
Wow, so disappointing. I own a PW1 which has performed brilliantly but I wanted a 2nd device. The previous time I tried a GW was the 5-series and that went back in under a week because the GPS accuracy was so incredibly bad. I thought for sure this would be the one but apparently not. Thanks for getting this out as quickly as you did, Rob.

Im so happy i found this channel, very informative! Can't wait for the galaxy ring test!
Thats what i want to know 😂
I know some of these stats seem to be a bit inaccurate, but look at how accurtae they are as a whole.
@@sethdbrown30 these Samsung watches are okay for moderate health features and great for notifications and Samsung phone integration
Review out before the extra pre order credits expire.... god tier!
Great overview, I appreciate all the testing and stats, and repeating same stories like a lot of other reviews do. Thanks!!!
You are definitely my reference device!
I love these videos and truly appreciate all the hardworking that goes into these. These comparisons are freaking amazing. Thank you so much for your time
Thank you. I was really hoping that Samsung improved their sensors to match Apple.
Will this be good for Gym workouts tracking and general health trackings as i only have a samsung device and don't have much time left because the offers ends 😢
Wrist based trackers aren't great for the gym. He covers this.
Great job man! Thanks for such a great content!
Thank you for all the work you put into these videos!
The video I've been waiting for. Cheers!
Wait your review for so long...many bs review in YT, .i only trust your review. Thank you and keep the good work👍👍
Hi dude. I love your videos. I am wondring if the settings was on max precision: L1-L5 dual band ON.
TNX SO MUCH❤
I am wondering the same question.
What I look for in a watch is:
1. Android (not an Apple user)
2. 7 to 10-day battery life (so even if I was an Apple user, I wouldn't like to use Apple watches)
3. Great heart rate measurement and sleep tracking (don't care about GPS)
But Garmin has shitty app store
So you just want a fitness tracker, no watch with WearOS is going to give you 7-10 days of battery life.
@@superiortoall22 Yet.
Make a video comparing Galaxy watch 4,5,6 and 7, it'll a make a great purchasing decision for activity tracking
Thank you for the review. We are lucky that we have you on RUclips Rob. May God give you long healthy life.
Great review rob! Thanks!
Thanks!!
@@slim1857 Exactly. They need to improve this ASAP. Apple has been measuring accurately for years now.
@@costafilh0 I also hope they will improve it ! If Huawei is able to do it, Samsung MUST address this.
@@slim1857 Yes! Yes!
What about AGEs index??
@TheQuantifiedScientist
I own and use at the moment:
Also Polar make good heart tracking devices but their watches are super inaccurate
very good feedback. i would shorten the vid to about half.
Great analytics. I heard from other sources too that it was not great. Your recommended videos to watch was not on the screen. Keep up the great work...
I have been waiting for this.
Brilliant video, so informative and love the extensive data points :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
The person who has the most credibility and accurate scientific analysis of smart watches💪👍
Awesome review, as always. I'm impressed about the blood pressure sensors. Only that 😅
this guy's gem. thanks for the killer content
Thank you for test. After watching your channel, 5 days ago, I cancelled my Samsung 7 ultra watch preorder. I still have the 5 pro though but thinking to move away from Samsung due to GPS system inaccuracy as well as sleep tracking.
do you think software upadates can fix these problems with sleep detection?
I wanted to know that too.
They could but they won't
No
can you test AGEs Index?
I cant wait for you to review the galaxy ring !! I wont buy another samsung health tracker without watching your videos.
Thank's! So, same story as Galaxy 6 for sleep. Not worth it the upgrade.
Godspeed!
Use any Apple Watch after 6 series and you will be ok with it. Samsung HR measurements are just inaccurate
If you don't mind being closed off in Apple, then yeah the Apple watch. I use it for weightlifting and honestly, flying, to measure my vitals taking Gs.
Finallyyyyy thank you thank you thank you thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉 keep up the great work
You're welcome!! ☺️
Well done!
Also get a smart scale so you can combine the stats.
Is there any improvement with the Galaxy 6 Classic? (Health wise, heart tracking just for the regular things, as walking or sitting, and Sleeping tracking).
Would love a reply.
Thanks, I always refer to your videos for the new smartwatches , rock on!
Is there a plan to review the Galaxy Ringbin the near future? Thanks for your videos
Waited on your review. Soo I am still saving my money for the Pixel Watch 3 I guess.
Please review the Xiaomi Watch S3 and S4 🙏🏻
Wow, so disappointing. I own a PW1 which has performed brilliantly but I wanted a 2nd device. The previous time I tried a GW was the 5-series and that went back in under a week because the GPS accuracy was so incredibly bad. I thought for sure this would be the one but apparently not. Thanks for getting this out as quickly as you did, Rob.
Thank you Rob! Just what I was waiting for.... Now it is decision time -stay or go.... Keep up the much appreciated work!!
