I already said it about the watch 7. Samsung has the technological capabilities to do much better. They get away with this crap as apparently the consumer demand does not force them to produce better quality.
I know some of these stats seem to be a bit inaccurate, but look at how accurtae they are as a whole. I mean if your like most runners and run 3-5 miles, a few times week, the distance will be within 0.1 miles of your milage ran, pretty great. Same for the HR tracking, most people use HR when doing steady state Zone 2 cardio, trying to stay within a certian area, these watches will achieve that.
I think most people are disappointed with the results compared to other brand watches, Samsung needs to do better, even Google has came closer in accuracy than Samsung.
@@MrSecretwest I agree, I'm also disappointed, but I'm just trying to make a point that even though these are not the most accurate, they are definitely accurate enough for most people, outside of serious athletes. With that being said, I have a hard time paying this much when I can get a Garmin Forerunner 965 or Garmin Venu 3 that is more accurate and has 90% of the smart watch capability, with 1-2 weeks of battery life.
I used all three, Garmin, Apple and Samsung, Samsung isn't even close to the other two for results. Samsung watch told me I only burned 200 calories for a 5k run, the other two had me closer to 500. Forget any type of weightlifting metrics, not even close to having any type of recorded workout. I can understand a small percentage here and there but Galaxy watches are super unreliable especially when you start hitting 10k runs or rucks.
I think most people seem to have forgotten that these watches are not suppose to be as accurate as actual medical devices. If you read the packaging it makes this point very clear.
It's very interesting how differently the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra do on the GPS test. I wonder if the larger Ultra has a different antenna design than the regular watch and that is the cause of the difference? It also makes me wonder if the larger 44mm Galaxy Watch 7 behaves more like the 40mm or the larger Ultra watch?
Yes, but they are so pretty close with their results so you can call them even. The more interesting thing is that how even old Apple Watch is far better than newest Samsung watches… 😮
I love these videos and truly appreciate all the hardworking that goes into these. These comparisons are freaking amazing. Thank you so much for your time
You had me at the start there. It looked like Samsung had turned a corner and finally made an accurate watch but as the video progressed it became evident that it’s just as bad or worse than previous Samsung watches 😅
This chart makes me think the galaxy watch is doing too much averaging in software. That would help explain the delay compared to the H10 and the fact that it misses short HR dips. The good news is that can be resolved in software updates. Then again, your correlation charts indicate why they're using so much software averaging. The GPS data is certainly interesting considering the phones share the same hardware so you would think the only difference might be some layout changes. I wouldn't think you would see this much of it difference in GPS performance. This makes me think the 7 is making some GPS compromises in software to improve battery life. It would be pretty unfortunate to find out the 7 derates performance in software just to make the Ultra stand out as the better device.
Maybe a good comparison is the initial test vs. the tests of all the devices to compare software maturity, or we wait for the long term comparison...also, why no running on the tests?
I wonder what's making it impossible for them to achieve a similar performance to the apple watch or some of the best Huawei watches when it comes to the HR sensor.
Most people are not professional athletes. They will never fully use these health tracking features. Samsung unders this well that is why they don't waste resources on this. If you want an accurate reading, go to a hospital and use proper medical equipment.
Will this be good for Gym workouts tracking and general health trackings as i only have a samsung device and don't have much time left because the offers ends 😢
The graph comparing multiple smartwatches seems to have made an accurate comparison but it is not so. This is because all watches were not tested with the same protocol and performed the same exercise at the same time zone. It makes no sense to believe this data as the subject pool was actually one person. Measuring ppg signals requires a sample size of over 100 people for basic comparisons.
I think you need a larger control group, there's a lot of factors at play that are unique to you and how the sensors interact with you, you would establish a better average using a larger control group across say 3 people at least
for me personally, 700 euros is a waste of money, from what it looks like, it's not at all average, you can't call it a galaxy Ulta that even comes close to the Ulta apple watch, I've compared it to my friend's
Also, on the sensor testing I would definitely redo this comparison in like 2 months to see what things look like with fully ironed out software. 🤷 Products like these are absolutely NOTORIOUS for coming in hot on the software development front right at the inital launch before ironing out the missed major issues with the first couple major software updates. But if things are still just as inconsistent a few months from now, then we sadly have ourselves something of a very legitimate problem. Although the fact that it already CAN function accurately & consistently outdoors (aka the hardest conditions for a light based sensor) that means the new sensor hardware itself IS good enough and it should be able to be fixed to work just as well indoors simply with software updates. 🤷
@@TheQuantifiedScientist Considering the outdoors during peak summer sun results (again, by FAAAAAAAR the hardest environment for any visible/IR light based sensor!), I'm more than fairly confident than the GW7/Ultra's brand new sensor suite legitimately does have the horses for courses on a hardware level. The inconsistencies only being found when indoors really just seem to just be a software optimization issue, not a deficient hardware capabilities one. 🤷 That said, how long it takes Samsung to actually fix these software optimization problems with the new sensor via updates though is a whole different kettle of fish. Here's hoping it's sooner rather than later! If they can fix these sensor inconsistencies though, Samsung will have a MASSIVE winner on their hands with just how INSANELY FAST & FAR AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION (even Apple!!!) the new 3nm Exynos W1000 is in therms of smartwatch SOC performance! ESPECIALLY when you consider the fact that it (Exynos W1000) &/or slightly tweaked derivatives of it (think GW6's slightly higher clocked W930 vs the GW4/5's OG W920) are likely to be used in the next ≈2-3x generations of Galaxy Watch, meaning NOW is the time to upgrade for peak longevity!
@@edderepa9685 ... Except that the tracking is ALREADY dramatically better and more accurate than it was at launch! 🤷 (Which again, the hardware ALWAYS had the potential to do, as it was ALREADY shockingly accurate outdoors in vastly more messy & complicated lighting conditions). Same with the infamous battery life drain problem being essentially fixed as well. The notority and media presence of the Galaxy Watch Ultra (not to mention its absolutely HUUUUUUUGE profit margins) has helped SIGNIFICANTLY with Samsung actually putting in the post-launch legwork for this generation of WearOS hardware, when as you bring up they very much haven't always done so.
@@DavZell I'm wearing the GW6C no they haven't, it's still the same crap sensors. And not all sensors are the same and calibrated the same. If it's wrong then software will use that wrong information in it's interpretation. Do people not really know this? Y'all are about as tech savvy as your Apple counterparts.
I am looking forward to your review on Galaxy ring. I LOVE what I see right now especially sleep tracking but I'd love to see the comparison between ring and your dedicated devices! Thank you!
Great video. Disappointed with the results for the two watches. What I look for in a watch is: 1. Android (not an Apple user) 2. 7 to 10-day battery life (so even if I was an Apple user, I wouldn't like to use Apple watches) 3. Great heart rate measurement and sleep tracking (don't care about GPS) 4. Form factor of a regular watch (round screen, big enough for my wrist - don't like smart bands or rings). It seems to me that, as of today, there are no options available in the market that fit all 4 criteria. Garmin Venu 3 is the closest, but even that is a bit too far from the top of sleep trackers for my taste.
@@danielmoksmann5654 you'll be waiting for a while and probably after Apple has achieved it. Until then you're just asking for a fitness tracker, any cheap one will do.
@@superiortoall22 As I said, the Garmin Venu 3 is the closest to what I want - don't really care about the Fitbits or other fitness trackers, it needs to look like a regular watch.
how cant samsung catch up with apple after so many years still so behind in sleep staging.... and samsung uses more stuff to measure it, while apple uses just accelometer... wtf samsung...
I agree, this new sensor is a killer on paper, a killer, really amazing. Apple seems more quality conscious, and must have very skilled programmers and development programs, resources, for the software side, while Samsung (I own one) is more features and hardware focused. Razzle dazzle.
@@GadgetyMV i really expected this "ultra" catch up a bit maybe, but its still so midcard sleep tracker... normal hr tracking is better, but cycling and lifting is still very average for this price range... im so deep in samsung ecosystem and i love all of it but smartwatches are just letdown compared to apple out of all.... im using the new samsung fit 3 band, and i clearly see its bad in tracking my sleep... looks like we need to wait another year or two and hope they can at least try to move foward apple... what a shame
Great video as always! I'd love for you to delve into the alleged synergy between the galaxy watches and the galaxy ring. The combination supposedly makes the measurements more accurate and makes the devices' batteries last longer.
I thought the ultra had the same sensors, could it be that being heavier it reads wrist data better? Btw, thank you so much for the videos, beyond media hype and paid reviewers, your impressions are really what guide us considering buying these devices, really appreciate it mr scientist!
Disappointing... I wanted to switch from my Huawei GT3 Pro (Amazing Battery and Accuracy) to the Samsung Eco-System but now i am not buying this watch and i wait for the Pixel Watch 3... It's disappointing that a company like Samsung doesn't catch up with Huawei or Apple. The improvments are not good enough. Why?
Is there any improvement with the Galaxy 6 Classic? (Health wise, heart tracking just for the regular things, as walking or sitting, and Sleeping tracking). Would love a reply.
Finally, I am grateful that someone addressed the accuracy of the galaxywatch ultra. Thank you very much for your review. Even though I love Samsung design, Apple watch is the king of accuracy.
I was so hoping this time round Samsung could compete with Apple. Alas. It is really insulting that Samsung charges what they do for a watch that is outperformed by a $100 Xiaomi Mi Watch that is 4 years old. Shocking.
I preordered the watch ultra but really right now I just wanna buy an iphone only to be able to use the apple watch.. so freaking sad seing these miserable results, totally not reliable, from samsung... i'm totally disappointed
Makes me feel better about being “trapped” in Apple’s walled garden. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is my favorite piece of tech I’ve ever owned. Hope Samsung gets better to push Apple to get even better.

You had me at the start there. It looked like Samsung had turned a corner and finally made an accurate watch but as the video progressed it became evident that it’s just as bad or worse than previous Samsung watches 😅
I have been waiting for this.
What about AGEs index??
I was eagerly waiting for this from you. Thanks for the upload!
Impressive video and data comparisons! Definitely going to subscribe
Thanks for an excellent review as always. Looking forward to you getting your hands on the pixel watch 3.
You and me both! So far no-one has reached out
@@TheQuantifiedScientist will you get the 41mm or the 45mm ?
The video I've been waiting for. Cheers!
Will this be good for Gym workouts tracking and general health trackings as i only have a samsung device and don't have much time left because the offers ends 😢
Wrist based trackers aren't great for the gym. He covers this.
Thank you for all the work you put into these videos!
Thats what i want to know 😂
I think you need a larger control group, there's a lot of factors at play that are unique to you and how the sensors interact with you, you would establish a better average using a larger control group across say 3 people at least
for me personally, 700 euros is a waste of money, from what it looks like, it's not at all average, you can't call it a galaxy Ulta that even comes close to the Ulta apple watch, I've compared it to my friend's
Samsung doesn't care because Apple would never let Android users to use their watch without purchasing their phones. 🤷
Awesome, this is the definitive review I was waiting for. So much info as always and glad to see that Samsung did better this time around
Also, on the sensor testing I would definitely redo this comparison in like 2 months to see what things look like with fully ironed out software. 🤷
Products like these are absolutely NOTORIOUS for coming in hot on the software development front right at the inital launch before ironing out the missed major issues with the first couple major software updates.
Makes total sense to redo the testing later (and also more testing now). Thanks for sharing!
That said, how long it takes Samsung to actually fix these software optimization problems with the new sensor via updates though is a whole different kettle of fish.
Like DC Rainmaker says, with every generation of Samsung watches there is the same "they will fix it with software" cope and they never do
@@edderepa9685 ...
Amazing content op. Hats off. I'm glad i at least found your channel now.
Welcome aboard! ;-)
Do you ever re-evaluate watchesbwith later firmware? Im interested in the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
Firmware ain't fixing sensors, it's a hardware issue.
@@superiortoall22 updated firmware/algorithm certainly do fix heart rate issues.
@@superiortoall22 firmware can indeed fix the sensors. Even the guy doing this video said firmware could fix the problems.
@@superiortoall22 They have made improvements in the past. Sensors generate raw data. Software interprets it. Better algorthyms, better results.
Thank you!
Will do!
I had a lot of expectations from the Galaxy Watch 7 regarding sleep monitoring, but apparently it's still the same crap. 🤮
Great job man! Thanks for such a great content!
Great video. Disappointed with the results for the two watches. What I look for in a watch is:
1. Android (not an Apple user)
2. 7 to 10-day battery life (so even if I was an Apple user, I wouldn't like to use Apple watches)
3. Great heart rate measurement and sleep tracking (don't care about GPS)
But Garmin has shitty app store
So you just want a fitness tracker, no watch with WearOS is going to give you 7-10 days of battery life.
@@superiortoall22 Yet.
Im so happy i found this channel, very informative! Can't wait for the galaxy ring test!
Thank's! So, same story as Galaxy 6 for sleep. Not worth it the upgrade.
Great overview, I appreciate all the testing and stats, and repeating same stories like a lot of other reviews do. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome! ☺️
i have been waiting for your video ty
Finallyyyyy thank you thank you thank you thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉 keep up the great work
You're welcome!! ☺️
Yeah~~~~ Your are back with Galaxy watch 7!!!!!!
how cant samsung catch up with apple after so many years still so behind in sleep staging.... and samsung uses more stuff to measure it, while apple uses just accelometer... wtf samsung...
I suspect that things will even out as I get more data, but let’s see
Could be though that there is less light coming in from the sides giving more reliable heart rate in specific circumstances
Brilliant video, so informative and love the extensive data points :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Why?
Please check the accuracy test on the new cmf watch pro 2 which will be useful for many consumers who are focusing on a budget level smart watch
👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 I love this channel. I wish there were more like this one! ❤❤❤
You are so kind
can you test AGEs Index?
Omg I was waiting for this!❤
I noticed based on people’s comments that this was highly anticipated
@@TheQuantifiedScientist you're the best, keep up! Could you test, or at least show us, the AGEs feature?
I'm greatly looking forward to the full review. Do you have any idea when you will post it? I imagine they take a while to make.
You have to keep yourself safe bro. It's a crazy world and if we lose you, who's going to make such reviews for us? Awesome video again!
U think samsung oops gonna hunt him down or sum? Bro lives is denmark, its sunshine and rainbow there
Is there any improvement with the Galaxy 6 Classic? (Health wise, heart tracking just for the regular things, as walking or sitting, and Sleeping tracking).
Would love a reply.
Finally, I am grateful that someone addressed the accuracy of the galaxywatch ultra. Thank you very much for your review. Even though I love Samsung design, Apple watch is the king of accuracy.
Pretty bold statement considering there is garmin
Is the Samsung Watch Ultra full review coming soon??
I was so hoping this time round Samsung could compete with Apple. Alas. It is really insulting that Samsung charges what they do for a watch that is outperformed by a $100 Xiaomi Mi Watch that is 4 years old. Shocking.
Thank you. You just saved me from an unnecessary preorder. Will be sticking to my watch 6 classic.
I preordered the watch ultra but really right now I just wanna buy an iphone only to be able to use the apple watch.. so freaking sad seing these miserable results, totally not reliable, from samsung... i'm totally disappointed
Same here. Love my Samsung phone, but I am already tired of waiting Samsung to finally make a good watch and match Apple or even Huawei…
this guy's gem. thanks for the killer content
Makes me feel better about being “trapped” in Apple’s walled garden. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is my favorite piece of tech I’ve ever owned. Hope Samsung gets better to push Apple to get even better.
Great review rob! Thanks!
Thanks!!
