After I learned about the Galaxy ring in early July, I spent hours researching other health tracking rings and watches, which is how I discovered your channel. I appreciate how you scientifically and objectively validate your conclusions. I am 73 and more interested in health than fitness tracking. I was also leaning toward purchasing a ring because wearing a watch to bed didn’t appeal to me. I ended up buying the Pixel 2 watch based on your videos and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase, especially after watching this preliminary review of the Galaxy ring. Garmin I disagree, yes sleep tracking seems to be not developing, but they add a bunch of other things, where a great example would be Venu 3 or Vivoactive 5, which work and are accurate, and Samsung is in almost every segment. And there is also the Coros brand, Fitbit will start moving after Google bought it, Apple doesn't have much to improve except battery life, because their watches are accurate.
The reference device is only 55-80% accurate compared to the golden standard polysomnography according to a large stardy published by ScienceDirect. No one knows which is more accurate. All these tests only shows what device agrees the most with the reference device - NOT real world accuracy.
Review perfect as usual. But, man, Ultrahuman Ring, please. We are all waiting! :) Although I have already bought it, it's too late. I am comparing Whoop, Oura, and UH for myself. They show more or less the same results, and the trends are consistent.
I feel like samsung just doesn't care about health metrics accuracy and purely focuses on delivering a product the average consumer that doesn't bother researching wether it's accurate or not. Absolutely right. When a Xiaomi band that costs 40$ has better accuracy than a Samsung gadget you start to question the high price and all the features it advertises based on poor accuracy.

Devices that provide health data should be legally required to perform with a certain accuracy. Regardless what are they considered, sport equipment or medical device or else. Otherwise, mark them with the world "toy" on the package. But guess what? It is the consumer who votes with their purchase. I heard the Galaxy ring sells in record numbers.
As Samsung user I appreciate this video and tests you do. I'll hold up with any purchase, and daaaamn, why Apple Watch track pulse and sleep so much better! Samsung, do your homework!

Pinch gestures aren't available on any Samsung device except the new foldable. As of July 29 2024. However I'm sure there will be updates to older phones that will allow this
Samsung under the new CEO is just cost cutting. Like with new generations a device should become better. Look at 3:26, the Galaxy watch 5 is up there at 97% accuracy. The watch 6 fell to 94%. Now at the watch 7, 77% accuracy that's ridiculously low. While the Huawei GT4 is high up with Apple watches, and it's cheaper than the Samsung and has longer battery life. They do the same on phones, the S24 ultra got a 5X lens instead of the S23 ultra 10X as a result it's slightly worse. Cust cutting everywhere people should boycott this brand that became worse than Apple

Quite unfortunate that it's this inaccurate, may I ask which finger you used it on? Usually rings recommend the index finger ☝️ My hypothesis is that these ring trackers will struggle when we grip things while using them, so I don't know if they'll ever be on par with smartwatches or chest straps. Nevertheless, I would love to see it compared to other smartrings like the Ultrahuman or the Ringconn
i have a Samsung foldable phone, and I hope that the ring can be a game changer as I'm not really a big fan of subscription model, but this video proves that I will stick with my Fitbit for a while until finally migrating back to iphone

Its just shocking Huawei is the only decent health/ fitness tracker outside of Apple ecosystem. Here in Australia, Huawei is not sold by retailers. Dont understand how people can drop so much coin on Garmins when their accuracy is mediocre
A good teste would be validating their claims of using both one of their new watches and the ring and their algorithm would compare and combine data from both for better accuracy. Not sure how you could confirm it, but I saw that being claimed in some reviews.
Could you perhaps compare the performance of other rings, such as Ringconn or Ultrahuman, as well? Oura and Samsung are well known but there are some other rings that might score better. I would be curious
To be fair to Samsung's Ring, the Oura Ring makes no bones that it does not do active exercise heart rate monitoring, as it does its thing during sleep. But yes, even for sleep, I expected the Galaxy Ring to do better. I'll stick to my Oura Ring while it lasts, and maybe look at the Galaxy Ring when version 2 comes out.
On what parameters your comperison is made , why garmin is in the middle of your graphics and all over the youtube Garmin beats the applewatch when it comes to data

I currently use a fitbit but I've been interested in their rings for a long time. While I like a good data analysis, I haven't felt the desire to leave a comment until now because I thought your channel was kinda sus since you haven't review Oura's competition before.
Cycling may be difficult because the ring is moving around a lot because you're grabbing the handle bars. Would love to see walking/jogging tests for the rings
I think Samsung said if you wear both, the watch will go into sleep mode "to save power" while the ring tracks your sleep. So they probably mean the watch during the day or during exercise will deliver better results. Typically misleading.

I have been wearing both an Apple watch 9 and a Galaxy ring to bed every night for almost 3 months now. Theyre eerily close in their calculations. The key with the ring is to wear it on your index finger where the sensors make a good consistant contact with the bottom of the finger.
I love your content - always terrific quality of research and detail in your reviews. It seems like the Oura 3 is always in your top tier of smart rings…but do you have any plans to test or review the Ultrahuman Air? It seems compelling and doesn’t require a subscription model!
Really interesting stuff, as usual! I don't think most people need these hyperaccurate results and are looking more at trends... though I could be wrong. But, hopefully, all these devices will get better as they evolve.
You should review ringconn ring 2 and ultrahuman air. Ringconn states that their ring is detecting sleep apnoia around 90-99% which is quite impressive
What's concerning is that samsung probably did know their ring was unreliable before releasing it but went for it regardless to turn a profit, thx for the heads up

no point. Adding lousy ring data to questionable watch data isn't going to somehow make it awesome.

HR measurements during night are a great idea. I think this should be shown in every review in the future.

I have been wearing both an Apple watch 9 and a Galaxy ring to bed every night for almost 3 months now. Theyre eerily close in their calculations. The key with the ring is to wear it on your index finger where the sensors make a good consistant contact with the bottom of the finger.
Wow, it’s horrible. Absolute shame on Samsung for releasing such a pos device.

I love your content - always terrific quality of research and detail in your reviews. It seems like the Oura 3 is always in your top tier of smart rings…but do you have any plans to test or review the Ultrahuman Air? It seems compelling and doesn’t require a subscription model!
Really interesting stuff, as usual! I don't think most people need these hyperaccurate results and are looking more at trends... though I could be wrong. But, hopefully, all these devices will get better as they evolve.

You should review ringconn ring 2 and ultrahuman air. Ringconn states that their ring is detecting sleep apnoia around 90-99% which is quite impressive

Because the main draw of the ring is to pair with the watch to save on battery. The main thing to test for, this the accuracy improve when using both the ring and watch together?
How would the watch data improve when you add totally useless data from the ring?? It can't get better but it could get worse.
