Manual electric cars are a really silly idea. The motors can provide any amount of torque without the limitations of combustion engines, making a transmission pointless.
There are no gears in electric cars because it's torque vs rpm every time basically, like a CVT. An electric motor will spin going up to 20k rpm no matter what, the motor either can take it or go slower basivally. I always did wonder why there are no geared e-motors nonetheless it's the gearheads paradox

There won't be a net gain in power. It takes power to spin the alternator, which would only give a small fraction of the power back. Even if it was 100% efficient, it would break even.
Well with a little more money in it I'm sure you can calculate the amount of Voltage and Amperes and get the correct wiring sizes and a better inverter that can handle the load.
Most (modern-ish) fork lifts use AC motors that you need some kind of electronic driver for. The starter motor (or a *very* old fork lift motor) can be run directly from the battery (maybe with some inrush current limiter, like a BIG lightbulb or a 12v or 24v heater coil)
My first go cart was electric... the 'ol man used a generator from an old truck with a 2" (ish) pulley driving an 8" pulley on one rear wheel... probably contributed to me liking these kinds of videos (grinning & shaking head).

Spinning the wheels is not the same as pulling nearly 2000 pounds. I'm guessing that you would need at least a 20:1 ratio to even move that car with his current setup. That's most likely a ½ - ¼ horse power motor. The 13+ hp motor barely moved it with that much weight. Stop being fooled by people on RUclips playing you for idiots. There is NO WAY that that motor will move the car in their current setup. That motor has almost zero power. An average person could output significantly more power with a bicycle and will not get that car moving that fast with that many people in it on a flat ground. The power inverter isn't capable of outputting enough current to move that car. You had the batteries wired in parallel which means 12 volts. 12 volts is not enough power for a wheel chair or even a bicycle for that matter. 24v bicycles are complete trash and 36 volts are for beginners.

btw electric motors also works as alternators, so you're probably backfeeding the inverter, and also a motor takes much more power when there is load. those inverters are usually also modified sine wave and not pure sine wave, and the rating is also usually the peak and not the continuous.
Wanted to share a tip with everyone, most may already know this but if you dont then it may help in the future. A relay like you can get anywhere just a standard 5 pin usually is used to turn things on. But in the case of the "clutch" in this car in the video you can take the wire that normally goes to whatever you are powering and move it over and it becomes where if you apply voltage say from a clutch switch, it will turn off the power instead of supply it. Boom an electric clutch. LoL I'm not going to say what wire goes where thats on you if you are going to burn up anything. LoL its super simple though just wanted to share that relays can do that also!!
Test 2! Try using better batteries go with used agm. Charge them up, and fix your connections. The loose connections caused excessive heat and voltage drop.

Wire a momentary contact switch to shift knob, put inverter on pully setup and bigger inverter. You might have something there, if you go with a industrial grinder motor so it holds up better.

You can easily fit 5 of those motors in that engine bay , set up a sick battery tray using only the best battery’s out there , set up a switch in the clutch that when you press it in it cuts power to the motors ! Let off and power comes back on ! Your seriously on to something here maybe even run a resistor or find a way for the system to not get hot , I think it be dope especially if you can get it to reach 65 mph highway speed in under 10 seconds

Use a brake relay under the clutch, so when you press the clutch it takes the connection away from the electric motor. Then when you release it will synce with letting out your clutch and taking off.
