Ill be honest, I was never a fan of standalone DLC stories. I greatly prefer adding to my main campaign character rather than learning about some new person I generally don't care about.
i actually like the concept of the side stories, playing a different protag that can affect the main story is interesting conceptually but its far too limited in the owlcat dlc too linear and little to variation of effects and limited consequences on the main campaign so much so that when you have played it once you never feel like going back to it
I don’t really mind it in WoTR. After a couple of play throughs the mythic abilities have gotten pretty stale for me. They are so overpowered that by the end of chapter 3 you can easily steam roll the rest of the game no matter the difficulty. Having content without them is a breath of fresh air

Hello! I know this video is already a bit old, but can someone tell me which ending should I get for the "wild" boss that I will be able to find in my main campaign in the new dungeon? Thanks!
Maaaaaaannnn.... after playing a lot of BG3 and P:WotR at the same time interval, I kinda got to understand the reason behing some changes made on the D&D system, with it's 5th edition. The skill/spell "bloating effect", at the final levels of the characters progression, in the "older systems", becomes freaking ridiculous. Several skills/spells that are the same thing from the low level ones, but with more damage and/or additional effects. Seriously, once you reach end game, managing the action bar in these "old system" games becomes quite a hassle. Indeed, I found it a much better idea, from a gameplay perspective, instead of giving my character a new, stronger, version of an old skill/spell, make the old one become stronger as my character level progresses. I also found quite reasonable the "nerfing" done in the 5th edition on the number of possible active buffs on a character. In the "older systems", that number was ridiculous. In the case of the game P:WotR, you could even make your character portrait disappear because of the amount of buff icons showing at the same time. Also, the time spent casting all these buffs was quite long, which made de process super boring. Some times you would spend more time buffing your party than fighting the enemy... hahaha... But, to be honest, I also found exaggerated the limitation imposed by the 5th edition. I would like see a more "not so much, neither so little" approach. A system that added new effects to the existing spell buffs, as the character's level progresses, would be the ideal IMO. The spell buff that, at level 1, gives one type of buff, at level 1+X starts to give two types of buff, and at level 1+X+X, three types. Of course, all logically related the original spell effect. One simple example: the spell magical armor, while at lower levels it would only increase the AC value of the armor, but at higher levels it could also, on top of giving more AC, reduce the armor check penalty value or give some damage reduction/immunity effect.
Hey, when should I play Through the Ashes and Lord of Nothing? Back to back as soon as possible or splitting them at different points of the main story?

I found through the ashes very nice because it was different to the main campaign, ditching some of the epic overtones and the superhero vibes of the main story (i found refreshing to play as a bunch of "normies"). I also liked the survival element, and the environmental interactions involving the npcs you saved. I was hoping for something similar with this one, instead i had like a cheap version of the mythic powers, no environmental interactions, no npcs mechanics, and no meaningful final boss fight. the story was a bit meh, and the angel of serenrae a bit useless. I liked penta though, she is very cool. And the new archetypes.
Story-wise, Through the Ashes should come first, but it offers a different kind of experience from the main game, so I wouldn't recommend starting with it. The ideal route would be to start the main game, beat the prologue, play a bit of chapter 1 and learn the mechanics, then switch to Through the Ashes and beat it. Then you have all the way until Act 5 to beat Lord of Nothing.
How do you get more than four people on your team? I just played through it with Rekarth, Sendri, Penta, and a Blood Kineticist MC. The blood blasts were cool (and oneshot the nalfeeshnee) and my lack of any melee character was somewhat mitigated with the Slick wild talent. That said, none of the shard powers are useful for a kineticist, so I couldn't spam blood blasts.
I really wish Owlcat would do a PF2 game instead of these stand alone DLCs on an old game engine. I know it's unpopular opinion. Everyone loves their super high numbers in PF1, but I'm one of the few who love PF2. I played PF1 since it came out and will always choose it over D&D, and I've got over 400 hours in each of the PF1 CRPGS. Not knocking PF1 at all. I've had great fun with it. It's just that after more than a decade of the gameplay loop of "only choose options that lead to highest numbers," I'm now greatly enjoying the "horizontal progression" of PF2. The numbers may be low, but there's so many more things characters can do and so many more tactical choices. Would love to see it given the WotR or BG3 treatment.
A darn shame this one isn't really tied to the main story either, was hoping for a dlc that could be played in it's entirety by the character from the basegame.
Friends help me! Keen to play this game but not sure whether I should wait for season pass 2 to wrap up and get a ‘complete edition’ as I like knowing I’m getting the full experience. What do you think? Does it matter with such a meaty CRPG? New sub classes is a pretty big bonus
I need a small clarificicataion about the save import in act 5 : Is it only possible when you start Act 5 or will you get the import option if you are "midway" through it ? I entered Act 5 last night (still in Drezen just "locked in" the mythic path etc).
Hi, nice review! Although I haven’t played the first part of this dlc) Do you plan on making reviews of another dlc for games you played? For example Underrail recently had one.
This looks good. I put 200ish hours in with the base game and 1 or 2 of the first DLC… I’ve been thinking of returning for another play through, and I feel a bit overwhelmed. I wonder if there is a good roadmap of an best order to play through the base game and all of the DLC since some are standalone, but unlock things in the main campaign. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
prologue of the main game > through the ashes > Chapter 1-4 of main game > Lord of Nothing > Rest of main game > everything else, from my understanding you can do inevitable excess before chapter 2 of the main game to get a few extra OP items, but I really don't think that's worth it outside of unfair runs TBH, mainly because inevitable excess is better after multiple main game runs with different mythic paths that being said midnight isles is great for testing builds in general, so if you don't wanna fuck up a build for the main game, test it there first, since runs usually aren't very long
As someone who has beaten this game at least a dozen times (1200+ hours), one of which was a Last Azlanti and Unfair - true ascendancy ending run, I personally recommend just playing through the Ashes/Lord of Nothing storyline through it's entirety and then going back and doing the main campaign. As Proton said, you can run Inevitable excess before chapter if you want the items but if not It's probably best to to play it after beating the main game. Midnight Isles, I would personally do while you're playing the main campaign as well. Just makes it easier and you're still getting all the content in the order that it happens chronologically. Or at least in a way that keeps continuity. Well worth the return for another run either way though man - greatest thing about this game is the shear amount of replayability it has due to various different builds, paths, endings, mythic choices, etc, and this is coming from someone who typically doesn't replay games once he's done with them.
I've been meaning to get this game, does it have gamepad support like BG3 and Divinity Original Sins, As I get older I find myself less wanting to play games that requires point and clicking for long periods of time
So would you recommend playing some or this DLC prior to the main campaign, or should I stop the main campaign at some point and play all the DLCs? - Thanks.
Through the Ashes happens alongside Act 1, This one can be anytime before or during Act 5, Inevitable Excess happens right before the last boss fight, Midnight Isles can either be done as a mega dungeon in the main campaign or on its own, Last Sarkorians is all in the main campaign
I just started WotR and have a character like an hour or two into the main game. Do you happen to have an order of operations recommendation for best experience with this and its precursor DLC? From what you were saying, it sounds like it might be worth doing prior to the main game (or prior to some certain point in the main game anyway)
not 100% sure but i think is best to play main campaing until you end the prologue or act 1 and the the stand alone dlc and this new one, then continue with main campaing
@@CrissTRGthanks, I’d gone in planning on doing the main game all the way through (picking up any DLCs that are accessible with your main where they felt appropriate) then doing the side story, so I’d have missed out.
A bit off topic, but as you are a big fan/player of CRPGs and TRPGs, have you ever played the free browser game Caravaneer 2? For what it is (an ultra-indie, free web game) I was amazed at the game and loved it so much. The big downside I had with it was the tedious late game combat when you have really big fights of many enemies (and likely many characters to control as well). A hard issue to fix though, and some people might like the large scale combat, which is certainly rare to ever see in turn-based tactical combat games (probably for good reason though, since it is a downside for me)
While there is no exact answer, the developers said recently that this is most likely the last season, but if the second season pass sells unexpectedly well, they may consider continuing. So far, they are not developing anything beyond the second season.
@rayclawicefire2503 I did a while back. Never finished it but I got fed up with my character and hated that damn spinning demon city but I was starting to play a new non evil campaign then this released so maybe ill do all the dlcs and then roll into a new game with a new good character from one of the new specs they added
@@AaronQ64 For the demon city, note that the spinning is actually tied to your camera angle. It's not random. It becomes a lot less frustrating once you know how it works.
Wait. I feel slow today. So. I am about to play this game for the first time. I will make a main character for the base game. Then I can play Trough the ashes with another main character. Then I import that character to this DLC. And then I import THIS DLC to the main game? And the Midnight Isle? That is semi-standalone? You create new characters? How does that fit into the main campaign? I will probably only play this game once. How will I get the most out it? And can you START woth from the ashes. Finish that. Play the main campaign. The switch back to this DLC. So you can add it at Chapter 5?
First play Prologue of main campaign, then complete Through the Ashes DLC, next continue main campaign till the end of act 4 then stop, start Lord Of Nothing DLC and after finishing it you can continue main story till the end. At least devs said its optimal way. Midnight Isles content can be encountered in several acts of main campaign, basically it's just repetitive clearing dungeons from enemies with a minimum of story, you can skip it or play as standalone game mode.
Mort, do you think this will be the last DLC for WotR and Owlcat now will focus just on some bugfixes and divert their main attention on post release for WH40KRT?
The game is designed for several long walkthroughs, so it's worth waiting only if you don't have free time to try different classes and mythical paths and you plan only 1 complete walkthrough.
I actually have the reverse problem lmao. I played Pathfinder Kingmaker first, then WotR. After the brutal trial of Kingmaker's learning curve, BG3 feels like a baby's first CRPG for me. Doesn't help that the story is mid and my god did they drop the ball on evil playthroughs and the endings. The thing that saved BG3 for me is the gameplay and immersion.
@@fitzviandraduivenab2790 Yeah I liked playing Baldur's Gate 3 once, I never intend to play it again. Nothing will be any different the second time. Meanwhile, 30% of Wrath of the Righteous is different each time just by changing mythic paths.

So disappointed I'm out of town for the holiday and can't play this until next week.
Time to break out Anya, my Dark Elementalist, again.
Should I play through the ashes first and the Lord of nothing before I play pathfinder wrath of the righteous
They absolutely need to fix it so you can play a single fluid play through or at least import a character through them all.
Can’t believe the last dlc is out. I’ll need to do a 2nd playthrough next year
Nah there’s one more DLC coming down the line
@@BidoofSquad I didn’t know that. Great news!
Time to make a Lich King build with the shard boons I guess
A darn shame this one isn't really tied to the main story either, was hoping for a dlc that could be played in it's entirety by the character from the basegame.
I've got the base gane, I think in some sort of bundle recently... still unplayed!
BG3 I need to finish 1sf😅
A 10 PHASE BOSS THOUGH 😳😱
$12.99 price confirmed
Friends help me! Keen to play this game but not sure whether I should wait for season pass 2 to wrap up and get a ‘complete edition’ as I like knowing I’m getting the full experience. What do you think? Does it matter with such a meaty CRPG? New sub classes is a pretty big bonus
I need a small clarificicataion about the save import in act 5 :
Is it only possible when you start Act 5 or will you get the import option if you are "midway" through it ? I entered Act 5 last night (still in Drezen just "locked in" the mythic path etc).
It'll pop up when you load your game if you have a relevant save file, doesnt matter where you are in the act
Music to my ears and thank you for taking the time to reply!@@MortismalGaming
SO FAST! IT JUST RELEASED YESTERDAY RIGHTTT??
Is this entirely seperate from the main campaign or is it like the midnight isles?
Hi, nice review! Although I haven’t played the first part of this dlc) Do you plan on making reviews of another dlc for games you played? For example Underrail recently had one.
I cover the DLC that seems worthwhile to make a video about
I can only play this dlc if i selected it while creating my character ? Or can i get to play her with other history
I am assuming I have to buy the dlc to use the new archetypes in the main game?
Can you play this with just custom companions or not?
Good show sir
What would you say are the best archetypes to be released in this new patch?
This looks good. I put 200ish hours in with the base game and 1 or 2 of the first DLC… I’ve been thinking of returning for another play through, and I feel a bit overwhelmed. I wonder if there is a good roadmap of an best order to play through the base game and all of the DLC since some are standalone, but unlock things in the main campaign. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
prologue of the main game > through the ashes > Chapter 1-4 of main game > Lord of Nothing > Rest of main game > everything else, from my understanding
you can do inevitable excess before chapter 2 of the main game to get a few extra OP items, but I really don't think that's worth it outside of unfair runs TBH, mainly because inevitable excess is better after multiple main game runs with different mythic paths
that being said midnight isles is great for testing builds in general, so if you don't wanna fuck up a build for the main game, test it there first, since runs usually aren't very long
As someone who has beaten this game at least a dozen times (1200+ hours), one of which was a Last Azlanti and Unfair - true ascendancy ending run, I personally recommend just playing through the Ashes/Lord of Nothing storyline through it's entirety and then going back and doing the main campaign. Well worth the return for another run either way though man - greatest thing about this game is the shear amount of replayability it has due to various different builds, paths, endings, mythic choices, etc, and this is coming from someone who typically doesn't replay games once he's done with them.
do you know if penta will be available to use in the main campaign or only in the dlc?
Only the DLC
No new Anime in December? I guess I've been spoiled
I've been meaning to get this game, does it have gamepad support like BG3 and Divinity Original Sins, As I get older I find myself less wanting to play games that requires point and clicking for long periods of time
It has controller support
What new spells are there besides Meteor Swarm and Blackhole?
Is there an edition i can buy that just includes everything for xbox x?
Not yet
Can you use your existing save on the main campaign or do you have to start a fresh
Yeah
Im still waiting for them to be finished with everything until i buy the game. Is this the last dlc or are still working on more ?
One last one to go
A bit off topic, but as you are a big fan/player of CRPGs and TRPGs, have you ever played the free browser game Caravaneer 2?
For what it is (an ultra-indie, free web game) I was amazed at the game and loved it so much. The big downside I had with it was the tedious late game combat when you have really big fights of many enemies (and likely many characters to control as well). A hard issue to fix though, and some people might like the large scale combat, which is certainly rare to ever see in turn-based tactical combat games (probably for good reason though, since it is a downside for me)
Cant say I have
Gronk!
does the new archttypes work on the main campaign?
Yes, of course
I can't watch the video rn but are the new archetypes available in the main game?
Yeah
👌
Is there any news season 2 will be the final DLC season?
While there is no exact answer, the developers said recently that this is most likely the last season, but if the second season pass sells unexpectedly well, they may consider continuing. So far, they are not developing anything beyond the second season.
@@fallometr thank you for the info
So play through ashes, this dlc then the main game.
I mean if you haven't played the main game yet Definity do that first. Then do the other DLCst if the desire to do another playthrough hits you.
@Llortnerof Oh I get it I just find mixed with the pathfinding its an annoying puzzle
You can play Midnight Isles separately or encounter it in a main game play through.
I have like, major immersion ocd lol so do you mind me asking when you'd suggest to play TtA and then when to star LoN?
what's the max level your characters reach in that dlc?

Mort, do you think this will be the last DLC for WotR and Owlcat now will focus just on some bugfixes and divert their main attention on post release for WH40KRT?
This is dlc 2 out of 3 for season pass 2. After the next one they have said not to expect any more.
👍👍👏👏
Rather bold of them to call a DLC lord of nothing. Seems a mite but risky?
Still no summoner....super disappointing....

Pathfinder has way too many DLC's imo. Best to wait for some ultimate edition imo.
Thank god there’s only 1 left
The game is designed for several long walkthroughs, so it's worth waiting only if you don't have free time to try different classes and mythical paths and you plan only 1 complete walkthrough.

oh boi.. i hate how i cant play another crpg after baldurs gate :(( that game is just so good that all else seem bad
Same here. Bought this after BG3 but this game is just overly wordy, voice acting is atrocious and its just clunky.
