      5 Monster Summoner Inquisitor, 15 Reanimator has shenanigan written all over it, since the Inquisitor archetype at 5 distributes teamwork feats to your summons, and, conveniently 15 is where the last summon upgrade kicks in 😆, though they are still summons, just something to keep in mind for Precise Strike/Outflank, since you're looking at flanking after 2 melee summons run up to an enemy 😆
      Pestilence Shaman + Assassin with that comfy new Corruptor Mythic Feat has potential to chicanery, and they also released Dragon, Pummeling and Boar Styles from requiring Monk levels (Flurry of Blows) so now you can do boar style for 2d6 bonus damage 😆
      Nothing else really stood out for more silliness though. 😥

      I wish it were longer, the BAB increase would really help to make up for the fact that you have to take all 20 levels and can’t dip into ek or another gish class, but imo it’s not worth taking a bunch of melee feats when you’re only melee viable for one minute a day.

    The Weretouched is blatantly much more powerful than the other new ones from what I can see, by a long shot. Notably, among a lot of stuff, the free disarm attempt (Rat) and free trip attempt (Wolf).

      DR 15/silver from a weretiger can go a long way too. Idk if DR with different weak options still stacks (before it was that if DR has different options to blowing through, then it stacks. So, for example, DR 15/silver should stack with Stoneskin DR 10/adamantite.)

    • @notalefty999
      @notalefty999 9 месяцев назад +1

      Erm, not sure about that. It seems moderately worse than the base shifter. The main advantage is you start with 3 aspects. The downside is that the base shifter has a superior alternative to every weretouched form and the combination of 5 minor aspects is quite a lot stronger than the weretouched minor aspect. Additionally, though its level 20 only, the weretouched doesnt get infinite minor aspect, and 20 odd minutes per rest where either you run it continuously or you have to remember to deactivate before a minute passes is actually rather limited in practice.
      Were touched can change as a swift action, but this is incredibly marginal and where its useful, primarily its after a pounce charge, and the shifter's rush feat is fine under these circumstances.
      The dinosaur with minor spider aspect gets a total +8 AC by level 15, immunity to AoOs, 5 attacks per round and pounce, as well as a large initiative bonus. You can also grab +6 Dex and Strength and further +6 damage with other minor aspects. This makes for a substantially more powerful form than any weretouched form.
      You might argue that the Weretiger is a better tank, but the DR is conditional and the healing is negligible. By endgame, yes, the dodge bonus is larger. However, you have no infinite minor aspect, so a lot of the time, you will be 6 dex down, or 1 less AC net, and have a dramatically lower initiative, which really hurts both offensively and defensively. You also dont have AoO immunity. And when it comes to offense, its not even close. 2 extra attacks and a +6 bonus to natural attack damage on top of the same strength bonus, and at endgame with unlimited use.
      Its not a bad archetype, though I would say the rat is far weaker in its role than the fae shifter. Werewolf is probably a better form than wolf just for tripping, though I am not sure by enough of a margin to warrant the loss chimeric aspect and dinosaur is for my money a better all round tank/damage dealer than anything weretouched has to offer.
      I certainly don't think its "blatantly much more powerful" than other new ones. Dual cursed oracle is a moderate improvement on an already extremely powerful class. Hag of Gyrona is an upgrade over the witch, though whilst any merged lich is extremely powerful, witch is probably the worst of the pure arcane casters. Otherwise, I do think the new archetypes are worse than pre-existing archetypes for their respective classes, but arguably, weretouched falls into the same category.

  • @grandlancer

    *cries in Dragonblood Shifter* Weretouched looks so good. Tandem Executioner also looks really good. Dual Cursed Oracle could be really interesting with the Oracle's Burden spell. Shadowcaster getting free spells is, sadly, pretty insignificant for a prepared caster.

    Regarding the reanimator’s undead creation being 1 round/level vs longer. I’m just starting WotR now coming off of Kingmaker, and as I understand it, WotR is a much more stable product (Kingmaker’s crashing - at least on PlayStation - was probably its biggest problem for me), so it might not be an issue here, but I really liked animate dead throughout kingmaker. These cheap bodies to jam up the battlefield, soak hits, and provide flanking partners for those with sneak attack were effective into the endgame, but I’ve never crashed the game as reliably as when I threw out a few too many skeletons in a combat. If there’s even a whisper of that in WotR, a longer summons time could be a detriment rather than a benefit.

      You would need to provide more information like what Mythic Path you are planning to run, what party, etc. From there I could give you some tips on how to make it most effective. I will say that Angel is the most powerful mythic path of them all so if you wanted an easier time with Core the Cleric-Angel combo is probably the way to go. Some people also swear by Oracle even though I am not a big fan of it.

      @@SlanderedGamingYou've just reminded me why I put down the game and why I won't be picking it back up.
      I never finished my first run, and this DLC seemed interesting. The patch seemed interesting. New classes seemed interesting.
      The game is so unfriendly to people unfamiliar with DnD, and you have to plan shit out to the enth detail if you're not playing on easy. I don't want to plan everything out. I don't want to study DnD. I don't want to have to spend 5min doing a buff dance on Xbox before every interaction that has more than a trash mob.

      @@adamkadir3803I didn’t have a problem on normal and I’ve never played a DnD game in my life. You can use the premade builds for companions and your character or you can just take a class that’s strong and really easy to build like bloodrager primalist. There are also mythic paths that are more beginner friendly like azata
      That being said part of the games charm is its depth and complexity anyone who doesn’t like that would probably be better playing something like divinity or dragon age because you’re really missing half the experience otherwise.

    "Mechanically wisdom is better than charisma" false. You can stack charisma so much in this game thanks to oracle and monk adding it to your ac and eldritch scion adding it to your attack and damage. Not to mention your will saves will NOT increase since that paladin loses divine grace which would have added your charisma to saving throws anyway.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  10 месяцев назад

      My rankings don't take multiclassing into account. If your class does not gain AC due to Charisma then Wisdom is definitely the better choice and that's the case here.

    @notalefty999 9 месяцев назад +1

    My (late) take:
    Reanimator: I am not a fan of the alchemist and I think summoning is far too much effort to get even mediocre results. So I really don't rate this.
    If you really want to summon undead, the bonuses are substantial, but I think the alchemical bonus to hit and damage is probably a more practical benefit than wasting your time summoning. Alchemists have mutagen and medium BAB, so can fight passably well. They a very likely going to do more damage this way if built correctly than you can achieve with bombs. But even here, some difficult fights have only a single target, so the feature gives no benefit. Its upgrade of a mediocre class, but not by much.
    As an aside, alchemists are not good liches. I know there is the bomb lich power, but still, lich is all about merged casters. You need your lich to have lots of high level spells because you are going to be healing an undead party. No one else has close to enough negative energy output to heal endgame. Negative energy eruption, restore undead and blessing of undeath are all essential, and only merged casters get enough casts. Also, only merged casters even have access to these spells before rank 7, or basically, chapter 5.
    Flesheater: Barbarians are already mid tier and rendered basically obsolete by the skald. At level 20, its very slightly better AB and Damage than mighty rage with legendary proportions, but with significantly worse health and AC. Also, faffing around with corpse eating is annoying, particularly if you want to rest before a tough boss. The traits you absorb are mediocre (fey traits actually look decent, but there barely are any) and the active abilities not worth using over standard attacks. Its a sidegrade over barbarian imo, and clearly worse than mad dog.
    Hagriven: The bonuses, though substantial, are not enough to make claws a good alternative to weapons. The bloodline restriction also costs you some decent options for bloodline powers. I would say its a moderate downgrade over the base bloodrager, a fairly bad class (inferior to barbarian and inferior by far to skald), and dramatically worse than either greenrider or primalist.
    Ghostrider: Standard action for 1 round paralyse at low DC is not great. The loss of teamwork feats and charge bonuses is rather bad, though the loss of banner is fine as it doesnt stack with heroism anyway. The mount bonuses are all quite mediocre. The speed increase is at least useful, but I was really hoping for something like Ulbrig's death from above to make charge far more practical to use given how often LoS issues prevent it.
    There is synergy between vampiric blade and etheric tether, but for some reason, the mount doesnt count as undead. This mechanic is never that useful to be honest, unless you are the only one in melee. For some reason, enemies will prefer to attack literally anyone else over an animal companion and its rider when mounted.
    A moderate downgrade on an OK class imo.
    Separatist: This game has impossible domain rendering its feature obsolete. Its also got some very good cleric archetypes and this isn't one of them.
    Winter's Child: cold spells suck and the companion gets one attack ever. The base class is solid when merged with Angel (which can actually make fairly good use of shapeshifting), though you do eventually get the shapechange spell. Still, its neutered companion and massively delayed shapeshifting (as well as requiring a 9th level slot) for bonuses to a category of spells which suck and are completely outclassed by angel spells. Its a fairly large downgrade on a class which is decent specifically with the Angel mythic path and otherwise somewhat worse than other divine casters.
    Tandem executioner: Hunter base class is middle of the pack (in this setting in particular, demon slayer ranger is always better), but this is probably an upgrade overall. You are losing master shapeshifter and sense vitals, but the bonuses you and your pet get will mean you come out ahead offensively. You will lose some buffing support however.
    Dual cursed oracle: great class and a moderate upgrade. 2 more revelations, 2 unique revelation picks, one if which is actually quite good and bonus spells are fairly naff. However, the penalty is virtually meaningless (some curse penalties are extremely mild).
    Tortured crusader: Excellent base class (though you have Seelah) but very significant downgrade (in keeping with a lot of paladin archetypes). Loss of saves, of pet, of ability to heal party members and remove hard CC. But most egregiously, the gutting of divine smite. Scale half of strongly with wisdom as pally does for charisma for AB, fixed deflection bonus that will fall way behind lategame paladins and the enormous loss of mark of justice. Yes, double damage bonus on smite is nice, but nowhere near enough. Capstone and bonus feats also nice, but still not enough. Mark of justice makes you entire party hit a lot harder, hit a lot more reliably and bypass DR. Its a boss killer.
    Dark Lurker: Rogues are a bad base class in this game, as sneak attack damage scales very badly in such a crit centric game for martial builds. In this is a downgrade on an already bad class. 3 ranks of blindfight in exchange for 4 rogue talents, which if nothing else, could be converted into blindfight feats with combat trick and you would still have 1 feat left over. Not that you should ever go beyond blindfight 1 if you have the choice. The next 2 have far too limited value and are very poor feat picks. The teleport is merely OK. You very likely arent tanking with this guy and you need other party members in melee to enable your flanks and actually do significant damage, so getting to the targets quicker isn't actually that useful in most cases.
    Prophet of Pestilence: The debuffs at higher levels are a lot more than 1d4 to all stats, otherwise this would be trash. You can upgrade this very significantly, such that it is doing 2d8 stat damage per round, which can be absolutely lethal. Combined with the capstone ability, this is actually rather devastating. I don't know if corruptor also bypasses immunity to ability damage as well as poisons, because if not, these archetype will be completely shut down by some bosses. The other issue is that there is only so much you can do to push DCs of hexes, making demon is easily your best bet for this archetype (you cannot pick angel anyway due to alignment). before getting the capstone, you have to choose between the AoE mutation, which is rendered largely obsolete with the capstone, or being a single target debuffer, which honestly just is not very efficient. And ultimately, even the high stat damage AoE at capstone is still worse than other DC based builds, like weird casting demons. Its also at a pretty high opportunity cost, without other spirit picks including 2nd spirit. Its a decent variant of a decent class.
    Weretouched: The shifter is solid and this is a reasonable alternative though I would say ultimately a little weaker. Werewolf is an improvement over wolf if you want to focus on trips once they start getting free trip attempts. But dinosaur form is comparably high AC compared with weretiger, better initiative and better offence by some margin than any of the weretouched forms, plus, the 5 minor aspects and unlimited use at level 20 clearly beats the weretouched alternative.
    Geomancer: for pure sorcs, you can likely lose the feats. For a multiclass or dip, the loss of feats and spells doesnt matter. And in urban terrain, Abyss and underground, the damage bonus is actually very substantial. And between them, those 3 terrains account for the large majority in the game. Its an upgrade of a very good class.
    Hag of Gyronna: Pretty straightforward and substantial upgrade to an admittedly subpar arcane caster (though anything merged with lich is very strong). Btw, close range is not melee.
    Shadowcaster: Solid base class, but this variant isnt great. It focusses on bad spells, a profane bonus that wont stack with Nocticula's buff, the shadow can turn hostile a on 1 roll regardless of will saves and the transformation ability is really good if you could use on a multiclass, but you cannot. Full BAB is not going to make a wizard a decent fighter on its own. Might be worth considering as a legend where you can take 20 levels of this and then levels in a martial class. You also can gain benefit from the profane bonus right until the end of the game.

    Ok after playing a bit I found that the nature's whisper nerf is totally stupid and unwarranted. I had this on Seelah in my current unfair playthrough (was respec 1 scaled fist 1 oracle rest into martyr using mods of course). But she wasn't nearly tanky enough for unfair. She was ok i guess but without my 2 leopards she wouldn't have survived long. She was getting around 44 ac at lvl 7. I had to respec her again mid playthrough with the changes (i stopped playing a week before waiting for update in early act 2.) Anyway im not quite there yet but soon i'll get the mythic feat for heavy armor and on top of that I'll probably take a witch dip for the lizard familiar (+1 ac) and ice plant hex (+1 ac in combo with icy protector ring so +3 ac) [+4] which all stacks with heavy armor. She's easily gonna go over 50 ac in act2 which is a lot better than before. She can finally main tank unfair. So thanks for the "nerf" my party is now a lot stronger wtf. The nature's whisper nerfs only affects oracles and scaled fists which weren't even that good to begin with, i guess it might have a minor impact on some insta caster builds but high ac is kinda wasted on casters ontside of super niche stuff and Sword saint was tankier anyway. Obviously i appreciate devs still updating game but that "nerf" was dumb. Whoever was complaining about this in the first place is dumb. It's a single player game and if youtubers recommended monk dips it's because they are needed on higher difficulties. Getting through act 1 on unfair even with respecs is now gonna be even harder than before which we didn't need. I feel like mc tank is needed even more than before which reduces versatility and choice by a lot. Again i feel like the people complaining about this weren't playing on unfair and could've just ignored monk dips altogether instead of crying on the forums about it. Crane wing nerf was good because it wasn't behaving like the description but not nature's whisper the description was exactly what it did in game. Elemental barrage nerf was also good because Sword saint was overall the best class in the game by far. I play unfair with respecs for replayability and i just want as many viable classes as possible. Obviously the game is based on the tabletop but it's fundementally different nobody would play the tabletop with "unfair" difficulty it wouldn't make any sense

    As a caster Druid fan, winter child looks to be a lot of fun. Definitely offers something unique from the rest of the druid roster. Tandem Executioner seems a bit less out-of-the-box than I was hoping for, but would make for an incredible legend mythic path character. You should've inspected "Geomaner" more properly. Read what the effects do on each given terrain. Most of them either just deal 1d6 damage (and scaling per Geomancer level) or healing; in addition to that the give different kind of debuffs or buffs.
    Geomancer is a must-have with at least 1 level for all Caster-based classes, or you go just 20lvl Geo and become an AoE menace. It's basically free damage to whatever action you are doing already.

    Do NOT take precise bombs. Get negative energy bombs. Use them to damage enemies and heal your party at the same time.
    And I think Dual Cursed is pretty good. Oracles burden means you can put att-4 and staggered on an enemy with one spell, and it's only second level if you took blackened, and powerless prophecy. That's pretty good. Especially since those are the best two curses anyway.
    And you missed the shadowcaster description saying it does NOT take away spell casting
    And have you seen some of the new Feats?!
    Focused Strike: When using power attack with a 2 handed weapon, or one handed weapon in 2 hands, you do not take the attack penalty from power attack for the first hit, available at level 1. Vital Strike+ focused attack+ always a chance= Never miss.

      Blackened is a terrible curse to take and staggered is only on the first round of combat. On Shadow magic: Shadow Evocation/Conjuration, while they do less damage than their "real" counterparts, have 2 distinct advantages:
    1) If the caster is an illusionist (like Nenio) or a Shadowcaster, you get the obvious buffs from picking up (Greater and Mythic) Spell Focus, which also benefits her normal spells like Phantasmal Killer.
    2) What they lack in raw damage, they more than make up for in flexibility. Each of those spells has loads of spells within them that they can pretend to be.

    Just a note about dual-cursed oracle, while I agree with you about Fortune, I think you're gravely underrating Misfortune. Not only does it have unlimited uses (compared to say the div wizard in 5e), it also presumably stacks with protective luck and it prevents an enemies' only way to hit your party when their AC is higher than the enemy's attack bonus by forcing a reroll. I'd be interested in learning if the 'can only be used once per day per enemy' clause triggers before or after protective luck resolves, as if it doesn't count the 20 that isnt chosen from the 2 die rolls, this effectively prevents you from being hit, like period.

    Grumble grumble but Ghost Rider is so COOL grumble...
    That aside: there is one area where Dual-Cursed Oracle might earn a higher ranking than you've considered here, and that's on Unfair difficulty. For most tank characters the *only* time you will ever take damage is when you get critically hit, and considering Unfair's huge boost to damage received, that matters a LOT. A character that has received Protective Ward from someone with hexes and the protection of a Dual Cursed Oracle will almost never, ever actually end up taking damage simply because even if the enemy somehow managed to roll 2 natural 20s, one gets reduced to a natural 1 critical miss. For every other difficulty, any character that's going for critical hits is going to love the blessing simply because a nat 1 is suddenly a nat 20 which is effectively Improved Critical without having to pay anything for it. That also means you never even have to consider Always A Chance as a mythic power (although it wasn't that desirable to begin with, and now there are some *tasty* armor mythics to consider).

  • @anthonygurskas4850
    @anthonygurskas4850 10 месяцев назад +9

    Tortured Crusader is a much better option than it first seems due to a multitude of reasons.
    1) You'll have many more smites than your regular Paladin due to being able to convert lay on hands into smites.
    2) Alone in the Dark, because it triggers off of summons' deaths as well. You can basically stack weak summons onto your enemies before the battle starts and get a crazy amount of AC and bonus attack/damage just from a single passive ability. You combine that with a certain ring and the fun begins.
    3) Final Justice stacks well with Mark of Justice, I tested it and you basically melt bosses with this combo.
    Tortured Crusader is very much a more offense oriented Paladin. The only do here is to wait and see if the second point gets patched or not, the text simply states allies. The flavour does seem to imply that should get the bonus from deaths of your fellow crusaders NPCs, and summons are held in the same regard by the game as your ally crusader NPCs.
    Duel-Cursed Oracle is a straight upgrade, and i don't why you rated it so low. The main problem with most of the other archetypes of Oracle is that you lose Revelations, a key unique component of the class. This Archetype not only doesn't take away revelations but adds additional ones, there is also Misfortune (An extremely good revelation that can save your allies, the limitation of once a day doesn't matter because you're constantly fighting new enemies.) and Ill Omen for when you really want to CC an enemy.
    Edit: It seems that I was correct, as of patch 2.2.2 "Alone in the Dark ability was getting incorrect bonuses from the death of summoned units - fixed", still the other features of the class make it worth considering, the capstone bonus is certainly unique.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  10 месяцев назад +3

      I probably did underrate Dual-Cursed and it's because I don't like Oracle in general. I know some people love it but it's not my thing. Didn't know about point #2 that's pretty huge. Also based on the description I didn't think Final Justice stacks with MoJ. Strongly considering a Tortured Crusader for my next run.

    • @notalefty999
      @notalefty999 9 месяцев назад

      Personally, I would say tortured crusader is fairly bad. You probably dont want to run two paladins, and unless you do, the stacking is moot. Would you rather have a substantially lower bonus to AB, AC and lose the ability to apply these benefits to all your party, in exchange for an additional +20 damage on one target, assuming you actually hit (which you are less likely to do)? I just think the trade is a complete non starter.
      If alone in the dark stacks off summons, this I expect is a bug and will hopefully be fixed. It surely cannot be intended to spam low level summons to stack the buff.
      Losing the ability to cleanse crowd control on party members sucks, losing the bonus to saves sucks, having to pick weapon bond over horse sucks.
      Bonus feats are nice and the capstone is nice (but very lategame). However, I am still definitely going to want to take Seelah (who also gets the unique and very powerful shielding companion ability), so I am never taking this.
      I would agree, Dual cursed oracle is a moderate upgrade and its already one of the best classes in the game.

    Going to have to bump up Prophet of Pestillence. The stat damage mutations are just the level 1 options. For example, Take the Wisdom damage one. After that you can take a mutation that also applies confusion to anyone afflicted by the disease. Or the Con damage one, can be followed by one that exhausts the enemy and makes them pass a fort save to not become nauseated every round. Or level drain, or spreading the disease to every enemy within 10 feet of the guy who failed a save!
    Same with Tandem Executioner. Those first 4 are just the ones you can get at level 1. My favorite is Push and Bite, that lets you bullrush any enemy your pet threatens when you shoot them. Your pet also gets a 100% accuracy attack of opportunity against that enemy.

All those other terrains do some form of [spell level]D6 damage to everything in 30 feet (saves look to be for the secondary debuffs, not the damage) at no action cost and very little health. The bonuses it gives stack with every attack(May be a glitch or so I've been told), so using something with MANY attacks, like say, a Smilidon, gives a huge boost to damage output. Mix in a duel wielding type with a third natural attack like a bite, and you do lots more damage, and hit more often with everything. Mix with Trickster's always roll 20s ability, and you basically set the mounted character to puree every time they hit something thanks to AoO's procing constantly based off crits. 1) Ghost rider is a cool 1 lvl dip for pal or sylvan sorc. Just for cool mount and paralyse effect
    2) switching to wisdom as pal is super bad. Becouse you have a spell that add you char modifier to ALL saving throws. Alone in the dark is op. Becouse it works with summoned creatures

    I kind of already knew which ones would appeal to me most; the Reanimator, Tandem Executioner and the Weretouched. Although the Reanimator Lich is definitely not the most powerful Lich combo, RPG wise it seems most suitable. Imagine a devotee of Urgathoa who specialises in disection and using alchemy to forge the Undead. I think it would work pretty well. I am less worried about the damage reduction simply because the real strength of negative energy bombs is their unsavable energy drain! I might be wrong about this but is the create greater undead spell new? I don't recall it being in the game. Thanks for covering this.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  10 месяцев назад

      You might be right. It's be so long that it's hard to recognize whether or not spells are new. I was hoping a list of new spells would be in the patch notes but that doesn't appear to be the case. LOL

      @@SlanderedGaming Confirmed it is a new spell. Create Greater Undead. Quite potent; Devourers which energy drain each attack or shadows that drain strrength.

    Honestly? I feel like every single new archetype it at least from a flavor/rp angle. And hey, even if you don't care for Geomancer, it at least tries to have the best effects when standing in the most common areas in the game. I could really see it being really fun to at least mess around with as a 1 level dip, because the geomancy ability doesn't scale off of sorc level at all.
    I guess I think it's a little funny we got two hag-adjacent archetypes, including a fully modeled hag companion, but as far as I am aware Hagborn was not updated with the capstone to actually turn you into that same model, despite that being the whole concept of the class.

    I wonder if there is a correspondent Mythic Ability that gives you your capstone ability like the mythic feat Bloodline Ascendant for sorcerers.
    I've already made a Weretouched Shifter and have begun another playthrough. It's still two weeks before Rogue Trader gets a full release.

    I'd wait for the last DLC to drop to buy the Season Pass for the better discount.
    Ghost Rider is a very favorable choice to RP as Ghost-Rider(surprise-surprise!) and Hag-Riven is the go-to choice for Wolverine from the table top players.
    Shadowcaster really said you are a gish now at capstone with the perma-Transformation.

    What's the point in the Separatist when there's the impossible domain mythic ability? And the trickster tricks?

      Basically it allows you to do the same thing without burning a mythic ability or being forced into Trickster. Doesn't provide something different but gives you a potentially easier way to go about it.

    A New Favourite Toy would be great with Lann.
    Pairing Tortured Crusader with the mounted Monk archetype in the Legend Mythic Path could be a nice build.
    Don't forget about Reduce Person for Dark Lurkers.
    The fear bonus likely affects the Hag more than the Witch.
    I would give the Shadowcaster a B+ given that Shadowform allows you to cast high-level spells safely within melee range.
