DARK & DINGY to BRIGHT & MODERN - Beautiful Dresser Makeover

  • This is like NIGHT AND DAY! This pair of mid century-esque dressers underwent an insane makeover!
From dated, dark, and dingy to bright, airy, soft, and modern, these pieces have come a long way. I had to strip layers of faux woodgrain finish to expose the REAL wood veneer underneath. I chose a white wax to keep the exposed woodgrain light, and opted to paint the rest in one of Fusion Mineral Paint's newest colours, Eucalyptus.
I had to steam out a couple of dents that I wouldn't have been able to sand through without risking burning through the veneer; it's a great trick I've done in a couple other videos as well.

Your channel is the best. There are a number of them and I’ve got to say they are pretentious AF and the results aren’t so nice because of it. You enhance what is there, you have such a good eye for reinterpreting pieces. Your pieces always look like they were supposed to be like that, whilst everyone else’s stuff looks like a DIY because it doesn’t suit the lines or shape or something is just off. There is a lack of cohesion. I don’t mean to be slamming and criticising other creators so hard but in order to explain why you are a different caliber of creator, I needed to.

You are excellent at these painted/unpainted furniture pieces. These two were just heavy and thick and graceless. Your choice of paint color, wood treatment shade and metal color has turned them into elegant bedroom furniture. It’s not just your color choices. It’s also your choice of where the paint goes and doesn’t go. I am continually impressed and delighted with what you create.🌸

I have a question, - I have an antique, oak china cabinet, 4 generations in the family, and it's in dire need of some moisturizing. I know you use Odie's a lot and I was wondering if you think this is best for a problem like mine. It's been stained but has no real finish, like shellac, that I can see, In the past, I've used Old English oil but I don't feel it's enough. Maybe I just don't use it as often as I should. I was hoping you might have some recommendations for better care.

O.M.G.!!! Those 2 pieces are absolutely beautiful!!! Your hard work really shows! I love, love, love your gorgeous videos. These pieces are 2 of the most impressive I have seen on RUclips. And that says a lot! Keep up the very informative and fabulous work that you do. I look forward to it. 👍🐇

I sooo love your work! If I lived in Canada(?) I would most certainly be buying my furniture from you. Living in Europe (Germany) makes that a little difficult. ;) Your hints are great - I use them to help me create wood-paint combo gifts. Keep on producing these wonderful furniture items, and I'll keep being stunned by their beauty. All the best.

Super! If I lived in Canada I’d buy them but postage to Europe Isa tad expensive, guess I’ll have to watch you more and learn some to do this myself, I’m just starting out, learning by doing and making mistakes 🤦🏻‍♀️ thanks for being an inspiration not to give up👍🏻

Thanks Angie, very informative! You answered I question I thought of today regarding using wax on a top like this and how ideal it is to do so. These pieces are sublime. 🙌🏻💥

Your work is just amazing omg!!! I love everything you do. How well do you sell your pieces? I think I undersell my furniture and the material isn't cheap. And who complains about you showing your animals on here....grouchy people omg!!

Every time I see "Transcend" pop up on my RUclips feed, I get excited! Your work is stellar!!! And, so is your philosophy about landfills, paint, and natural wood.

Really nice job and I truly enjoy your channel! I do have a question for you since you do a lot of refinishing and use FMP. I am doing a custom job of 2 cherry end tables. I will be painting the body with Champlain(2) and Casement (1) mix and lightly dry brushing edges and trim with a medium brown.. We talked about refinishing the top and staining the top lighter. I sanded the top of one and it really is red (true cherry wood). I had thought about using SFO in Cappucinno mixed 50/50 with natural but I'm afraid it will still be too red. What do you think I should do? I thought about doing a wash with the Champlain/Casement but still afraid the red will come through and she really wants to get rid of the red and go lighter.
