UNBELIEVABLE Dresser Makeover- Extreme Furniture Flip

  • YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS TRANSFORMATION!
I picked this sad little mid 1960s Viscol dresser up on the side of the road in the rain- I was lucky to grab it before it got entirely drenched! A bunch of repairs, paint, stain, and two days later, it's been completely revamped and is STUNNING!
A side note: there's a point in this video where I mention "I'm fairly new at this".. I'm actually referring to making RUclips videos, not furniture! I've actually been doing furniture full time for a year and a half, and almost full time for about three years prior to that! Just wanted to clear that up! :-)

I AM a wood worker by trade, and I have to give you a huge round of applause. You did a great job improvising to make the repairs that needed to be made, instead of trying to hide them. I see alot of people do things horribly wrong, and teach people that way. However, I caught myself saying "good job" out loud several times during your repairs. So pat yourself on the back. Backyard stuff sometimes is the only way lol. 👏👏👏

Agreed! I don’t care if people do things wrong, but I DO care when they make videos as “teachers” and then proceed to do everything wrong. It drives me insane! This was just outstanding!

Greetings from Hobart, Tasmania. This turned out great. Just 2 quick tips. If you have a screw without a head, set your drill in reverse and clamp down the jaws of the chuck onto the screw and slowly turn it out - should come out no problem. The second tip for clamping long pieces (when you don't have long clamps) is to use ratchet straps (in your case cheap ones about 25mm wide) with scrap spacer blocks to protect edges. Looking forward to watching your other projects.

Oh those handles...!! Thank you! When I purchase/obtain a piece, I will send the owner an update of their previous piece. One said that if they had not gotten rid of the piece due to it's sheer size, that they would have bought back the piece that they gave me for free. It was one of the best compliments I could have gotten, and I let them know I had actually donated it to a family in need.

I've been binge watching your videos, and I just want to give you some feedback. I love how you do voiceover instead of talking real-time. It means you can speed up what are really slow and sometimes tedious processes, but still show exactly how you do them. I love that you explain your repairs, wether its a highly skilled one or a botch up one. That really helps with the learning process! I feel your videos are just the right length, you show everything that needs to be shown, without any boring filler content. You have a really good eye for how to bring out the most beautiful potential of a piece, and I love your taste. I am left feeling inspired, awed, and that I may have learned some valuable tips along the way. Thanks very much for sharing!

I found you today on RUclips as I love old things getting new lives again, the dresser looks absolutely beautiful and you are showing me/us that you do not need fancy tools to create something beautiful, well done and 😊 thank you, sunny greetings from NZ

Angie, a STELLAR finish! And yes, probably many painters would agree with you to just get the product ON, then lay it off lightly smoothly in one direction of the grain, catching your edges for rollover after. It's beautiful! I LOVE EVERYTHING! I LOVE THE LEGS! HARDWARE! COLOR! PAINT! STAIN! Great job as usual!!

Absolutely stunning!! My father was an amateur wood worker/cabinet maker. Many pieces in our home where made by him. And many of them could use your eye for design in an upgrade. I miss the sound of the saws and the smell of the wood. So nice to share these refreshes with you.

You are very brave! The wood working you accomplished is impressive. The end result was fantastic. You really did save this piece and make a treasure from trash!

Your channel is one of the main channels that I watch. I'm disabled and I watch a LOT of RUclips videos. Since I recently found your channel your videos are new to me and I really enjoy them. I don't have a real "workspace" but I've learned a few tricks from watching. I have two, possibly three projects and, living on a remote island in Southeast Alaska I have to get supplies on Amazon and eBay. After I refinish what I currently have I plan to pick up further projects from the local buy/sell/trade page. I'm glad your channel is successful!

I just wanna say (and I am so sorry for all of the comments from me tonight) that I have been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now and I’m binging your channel tonight. Your videos are an absolute joy to watch. This stuff is in my wheelhouse and you just seem like such a genuinely wonderful person.

I usually don’t like painted wood, but your wonderful talent and eye continue to amaze me. The birch wood “is what this Mid-Century” gal called the color ‘Blonde wood’. Thank you for revitalizing the pieces.

You have such a great eye for each piece’s potential. The hardware on this needed to sing, and you accomplished that by providing a great backdrop for it and by painting it for maximum contrast. kudos!
