for anybody wondering, I am located in Ontario Canada, I am currently building a 32x30x16 steel building. my site prep cost me $7000 this included 12" of compacted gravel levelled out for a slab on grade tension wire pad. the concrete pad itself is another $13000 and the in floor heating pex/insulation was another $3000. the building cost itself was $18000 and the 12x12 door was $3500. man door was another $1000 and two window's were $1000. the gas heating system was almost $7000. plumbing done by myself was just over $2000 for a bathroom and two sinks. insulation for walls and roof was $3500. electrical I am looking at another $4000. and that's about it!

Hi Henry, The prices we mention are just for the steel. Everyone's foundation requirements, site conditions and other specifics are going to vary quite a bit. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
I'll add my experience as well. I'm currently building a 42X60X16 cold form steel building in northern california. It has 2 12X12 roll up doors and 1 12X14 roll up door (4600$ installed). The pad was done with a 14X14 perimeter footing foundation with double layered #4 rebar on footer and #3 18" OC on pad meshing with the pad being 6" concrete speced at 4500PSI total yardage came to 78 yards of concrete (20,000$) they also did all the dirt work to get it prepped. The building itself cost 33,000$, fully insulated with a 5:12 roof, 2 foot over hangs all around 1 man door and a 15X42 mezzanine, under eve and gable skylights. Current quotes on erection have ranged from 18k to 28k but will most likely erect myself since I have access to the equipment to lift perlins and girders into place
Wow, I am in Alabama and we can have a building erected turn key for $3 sq ft! A friend is having a 40x50 put up right now and he has $12,000 in the building kit, $9000 in the slab with a 6x6x10' part in the slab for an overhead jib crane and then $3 sq ft for erection. Buildings aren't that expensive here.
@@joshuawagnon2819 I wish I had those erection rates. I recently reached out to more erectors and because of fires all the rates are now at 12 to 15$ a square foot.
For anyone who lives in California, I'm currently building a 40'x60'x16' red steel building and the total price is close to $80,000 to get the building erected on the foundation/slab. That does NOT include any electrical or plumbing. Here's a price breakdown: $35,000 for the building with two 12'x14' roll up doors, five 4'x4' windows, one sliding glass door, two man doors, one ridge vent, gutters, and insulation. $21,000 for the foundation/slab that is 4" thick for a 40'x40' section and 6" thick for the remaining 20'x40' section. $20,000 for erection. $1000 for foundation engineering. $1000 for earth work (this may be much more expensive but we already had a fairly flat pad). $2000 for permits.
@@OMAR-er9ec Star state steel LLC quoted me $34,000 30x40x14 red iron kit. Some guy in Sacramento quoted me $100,000 to erect the building. I said that's crazy.

Let me know what type of building you are looking to build and I will get you a quote from GWB . And then we can get you a quote from different erectors on getting your building erected. Hi Chris. We did a video about Costs and why we can’t just quote buildings. Every building is different so the costs are different. Even if it’s the same size. But... I think we can do what you asked. We’ll work with the team and outline the costs on specific projects. We have tons of photos and we should be able to explain the details and cost. Just so everyone knows that depending on loads and features requested, their cost might be a little different. Good idea and thank you for the comment.
2 sizes on planet earth, can't approximate a range. Seismic, high snow loads and climate extremes of storms can be a footnote. Giving prices would lead to competition and drive down profiteering, front loading...We are speaking in English this is designed for North America.
Great video. Started working with Mike on a quote... and this is spot on... Great folks to work with. Hope to nail down the correct size for my property so that I can start the build.
Great video! As a CM, I understand it all and appreciate the information. I'm looking to understand costs of steel versus block house and barn. Thanks!

Hi Eric! The costs you mentioned , was that just for the metal structure or did that include the slab, land prep & utility hook ups? Thank you!
