When They Come For Me 🔥 That song is full on spitting facts against that kind of people! “I am not the fortune and the fame *_nor the same person telling you to forfeit the game”_*
@@greenday1991ful That's the reason. When you're depressed you're in some way closed-emotionaly and slowly suffocating from the inside. When you hear sth so relatable you finally feel that maybe sb understand you, what you feel makes sense etc. And all this pain ulocks you and helps you get it out of yourself. So you're in some way getting better
It does have a sense of screaming with a harsh clean vocal which was emphasised in quality when they found that Chester's voice had tone layers that sounded like 4 or more people were singing/screaming. He truly was one of a kind.
@jasonbodden8816 hence why I said a sense of it. It wasn't all out but there was a harsh element to it. I think when they did the documentary on creating meteora the vocals were meant for screaming but they found the overlap in vocals from Chester and worked on perfecting the projection of it. But I watched it forever ago so I don't remember correctly.
That means I'm a year older than you most likely. I was 8 when the album came out and Breaking The Habit, Somewhere I Belong, and Faint were such bangers, 8 year old me was in a frenzy😅 I had bought Hybrid Theory the year before and then Meteora came out and solidified my eternal fanboyism
@@SkinnyEatWorld95 I think Chester’s writing and emotion is what always sells me to stop and appreciate this group . His lyrics came from the darkest places of his past and unresolved traumas . Really hits home . “I’m holding on to what I haven’t … GOOOOOT!”
It’s one of the best LP songs but I clearly remember the backlash it got when the single came out, even though it was on an album with a bunch of songs with heavy guitars, screaming and rapping.
I think backlash and Linkin Park go hand in hand. They’ve definitely been catching shit for years. But Breaking The Habit is definitely one of their bests and I’m glad they always tried to do things their way.
It's so interesting in hindsight. Every time they tried something different they got backlash from "fans". But by expanding their creative direction brought in even MORE fans who then got exposed to the heavier stuff and ended up falling in love with the whole sound of the band.
Evolution of style > "fan" backlash > growth in following > repeat... This has been the journey of Linkin Park since Meteora (but more evident since Minutes to Midnight). They've faced backlash with EVERY album after Hybrid Theory and kept growing as a band. I'm excited for their future.
Linkin Park is near synonymous with backlash. The band can't even breathe without SOMEHOW getting backlash. It's almost hilarious how literally anything they do inevitably will be showered in hate, and then like 5 years down the line they switch up to "this was so great why did you abandon it???"
Breaking The Habit was like Hybrid Theory 1.2 which was a nice transitional blend to their "old" (1 album guys...lol) to the new stuff which still had that same sound but a bit more polished and slightly leaning into the pop side to attract more audiences.
One of my favourite LP songs, labels are slowly becoming a thing of the past and I can’t wait for the day when artists can truly be free from them all together 👌
You can be fairly free from them and still get a lot of the benefits if you do a distribution-only or distribution and marketing-only deal. You own the masters, you have full creative control of the album, the label just has the exclusive rights to sell and market it.
First time i heard that song, I knew it was going to blow up. Everyone was listening to somewhere i belong, but my first listen to the album i knew it was the best song on the album.
So my cousin asked me if I knew about Linkin Park. All I was really listening to at the age of 14 was ac/dc. He said, "dude you're missing out!" I popped in his meteora cd and the first song I heard was breaking the habit. Then I learned that hybrid theory was their first album😅 Ever since the band Linkin Park became my favorite through my teenage years and up till now in my 30's.

@RagingCookie127 when people talk about screaming in music, they are usually are talking about false chords or gutturals. Neither were used in Breaking the Habit
I still remember the day when I went out to buy Meteora in high school. Was so blown away at how fresh the sound was and thought how could these guys make an even bigger album than hybrid theory.
No screaming? "I'm breaking the habit... TONIGHT! I'll PAINT IT ON THE WALLS! Because I'm the ONE AT FAULT! I'll NEVER FIGHT AGAIN! AND THIS IS HOW IT ENDSSSS!" Absolutely in love with how they felt this need to make the song.

This was the divergent point there was repitition which isn't the journey they portrayed in the first. Elements of an inner journey. Just saying words and placing a beat is what happened and this habit unfortunately distanced me as a fan.
What "genre" is Breaking the Habit? Is it DnB, or not quite? Linkin Park has been my favourite band since the 90's and I've loved the fact that from song to song, it feels like a different genre.
