You guys should think about putting a groove in the flange like the OEM. I just went to install mine and the flange is completely flat unlike my OEM. When you tighten it without a groove there’s nowhere for the gasket to go hence why it will always have some kind of gap there no matter what. The OEM has that for a reason, I can send pictures to show what I’m talking about but I haven’t seen anyone mention this and it’s very weird oversight for such an otherwise great company. This is coming from my father who’s a Toyota master mechanic for 30+ years
These guys make a fine product. This was a half hour install with no lift. Make sure and do it just like shown here. The sound clip here does not do it justice. It sounds better than I had been anticipating, it has a real nice growl to it. I am very happy, thanks Carven.

So this morning my son and I installed this kit on my 2020 Cement TRD 4x4 Off Road. It really growls. I have a 6 speed manual and it has that sweet sort of gurgling, burping sound when you let off the gas. 😎 Louder than I thought it was gonna be, but I'm REALLY happy with the purchase. I did mine about 2 1/2 months ago and I’m super happy with the six speed Tacoma,makes nice growl! Also, I’m getting like 1.5 miles per gallon better which isn’t bad lol

Man imagine trying to do this installation while using a creeper under your truck lol, thanks for the video :P I was going to try to do this in my front driveway with a creeper but it sure looks alot easier if you can put it on a lift and walk under the truck like your doing in the video. Hopefully I have some good muffler shops around me that can do this.

My dad and I are going to be taking off the stock one without a lift and installing the Carven, doing it exactly how you did. I was worried about not having a lift but I ordered the rubber clip removal tool and I know you and others said no lift is required so it will get done. Thanks again. Awsome! yes, there is no need for a lift if you have someone to help you which in this case you do. The only hard part is removing the OEM Exhaust once you take it off the cat back kit will tie down like butter

Yeah I charged up a m18 battery for my bandsaw just in case I decide to just cut the old exhaust off if it's going to put up too much of a fight (Will never need that OEM sound of nothing again). As an old millwright, welder fabricator that has had a few eye injuries, I wish you would wear some eye protection, especially while using an impact wrench. Product looks and sounds great.

@@balenci8425 I haven't experienced any droning. It sounds awesome. I think it would sound better with an ov tune which makes the truck shift better and smoother. Getting that done soon.

So hearing the exhaust is fiberglass packed, in the dirtbike world you have to repack after many hours. Is this the same in the truck exhaust world, where I guess not possible since ends welded? Do other brands mbrp, afe, rough country, ect fiberglass pack? Also I have a 23 trd can I put digital mph on the screen like the the customers in the video?
Our mufflers are pillowed packed, meaning there will be no need for repacking. Our pillow pack designed mufflers eliminated the fiber glass getting blown out.
Website says it will only fit 4 door short bed but has a long bed option? Will this fit an access cab with 6ft bed? Best sounding exhaust I’ve heard and would love to have it lol

Yes, our Tacoma Kit actually has the option to run as a passenger side exit or a axel dump.

would this sound similar on all toyota v6s? My wife wants to add a Carven muffler for her highlander V6 since she likes how the progressive series sounds on my Silverado, granted I have a v8 but she is really set on a carven muffler.
@@ajya462 she has the 3.5 sport XSE so she already has air bags and rims on order so now wants an intake and exhaust system. He hasn’t found a sound clip of a nice sounding exhaust other than the carven. I’m tell her to just do aftermarket tips to give the impression of an aftermarket exhaust and to leave it alone
Hey Pelon I believe going with our Carven_TR Muffler will do the trick. Might not sound like your Silverado but it will give her that aftermarket Exhaust Tone she is looking for.
Is an kmpact wrench needed for install for this exhaust? Could I get by with some socket wrenches?
You can get by with that but for secure fitment we recommend using an impact just so you have it in mind that its fully tight down.
took off my trd pro exhaust and bolted this badboy up today. sounds very nice. one thing i was wondering was, does it take a while for the muffler to break in? i know for like flowmaster it takes a week or two for the packing to acclimate amd have that signature flowmaster sound. or atleast thats how it was for me with my past two tacomas. the reason why i ask is, i also have the urd mkii ypipe and while i knew it would give the carven a different tone, i noticed in second gear if i get on the gas (not full on gunning it) the tone goes from low and bellowing to raunchy lol. if i gun it then the raunchiness gets drowned out pretty quickly till ultimately the intake growl takes over. im guessing cause the motor is under full load. other than that i like the pairing of urd and carven. sounds wicked while cruising, vicious when punching, and gurgly when downshifting. 🤘😎
worth getting to replace the quiet OEM stock exhaust?
@@dms14: after owning it for sometime, i do admit it sounds good. if youre looking for a nice thoaty tone then this should fit the bill. with all that being said, if your truck is equipped with a urd ypipe or you deleted your midcats then this exhaust is gonna be raspy as hell on the top end. i thought it would go away as time went on, but it did not. on the low end (below 3.5k) it sounds wicked, but im convinced that this setup was made if you kept your stock ypipe and you did not change out your headers or whatever it is they call them on this truck lol.

Great question! Our kit is actually designed for both a tail-pipe exit and an over axle dump exit. no disadvantages at all its actually a great option for those that want high clearance and when getting after market rear bumper, tires and wheels.

We are located In Corona, CA. Unfortunately you would have to see if a shop around you or a ship you prefer can customize the kit.
I put it on my 2017 Tacoma limited and I love it! Only problem is that some condensation drips from where you screw in the new bolts. Is it supposed to do that?
need to be pulled more towards the engine and re tighten down clamps and bolts.

Do you need to have the tip on for it to sound like that? I am trying to achieve a more high clearance style for off-roading and would rather not have the tip sticking out far
You have the option to make the cat-back kit an axel back and dump it underneath the vehicle.
@@CarvenExhaust in order to do that are you just not adding on that last section of piping? And if so does the black exhaust tip fit on right there too? I don't see a specific option for axle dump on the website so just wondering if that's the option for us off-roading folks :)
how does it compare to both MBRP's turn down and side exiting MBRP? I have the turn down MBRP and im thinking of another options as its too annoying for my tastes. thanks

Sounds good, I like it. But the real question I can't find on the site's item listing is whether or not it'll pass state inspections.
Its a catback therefore the catalytic converter is still in place so it should, unless your state fails for db’s.
It should. Your truck weights over that amount for a vehicle to be state ref.

This Cat-Back Kit is adjustable to be ran as a dump exit I know a lot of off road customers like to run it with a dump exit.

Yes Of course! what a great question! We designed the Tacoma and the Tundra Cat back Kits for off road use so you are able to remove the tail pipe section to run it as a dump and it will make a great sound while off roading!

Now all you need is a set of URD headers and their y pipe. Tacos sound even more amazing with that!

Do you have a exhaust system that will fit a 2017 SR5 double cab long box? I checked the website and there's nothing specific on access cab/double cab and short/long box?

@@carsongalaxy from other posts it says it fits fine on the 5ft beds but mine is a 6ft bed. I like the sound but if I can't get the info on it, I'm not going to purchase, have it shipped and then not fitting at all.
From past experience my 2010 civic si had its exhaust pipe cut (skunk2) because it originally fit the 4dr version mine was the 2dr.
@BMO I'm not worried about availability. The kit on website just says for a 2016-2020 Tacoma. On here people asked if it needs to be customized to fit on a 5ft bed. The answer is "no" from the manufacturer. My truck has the 6ft box so if there's nothing on site to customize it to what my truck is I'm not going to pay $500+ for a exhaust to not fit properly. Would you buy something that wont fit?
Unfortunately this kit will not fit the long beds. We are working on a kit for the long beds I know customers with long beds still purchasing this kit and all they did was extend one of the pips at a local muffler shop.

Can I make this exhaust work on the previous generation Tacoma?
Unfortunately the way the bends are I believe the kit will not be able to work. Unless you know someone that can bend and weld then there is a possibility that he can custom fit it to your truck but with customizing the kit it will void your warranty of the product.

Yes 100% you can remove oem exhaust without utilizing a lift.
