I would argue "half ass" is too dismissive of his demeanor. He seems confused by the question that comes out of the blue and answers out of confusion and nonchalantness with a half joking tone as Flynn would have for the time.
If you think about the two scenes, the one from the movie is what Flynn remembers, and the one from the show is the one both TRON and Dyson remember. and we have our brief POV of Anon. So they're remembering what sticks out in their memory about what happened that night.

Never watched the Tron animated show but I did play the game and its amazing for a movie tie-in game. I only wish they would have ported it to PS4. It got the whole Tron Legacy feeling down perfectly.

No it didn’t, I love the game story playing Anon and trying to save the ISO and killing CLU forces the game story was cool and great all the way loved it especially Anon and Quorra friendship all the way oorah!
we're not entirely sure how Clu would respond to his primary directive being denied though. he could get confused and angry because of it instead. at best he might demand answers and hopefully Flynn might calm him down, but Clu was already setting himself up for rebellion at that point. it's interesting to think about though

Rinzler happened because clue captured Tron and Beck was unable to save him. though I doubt Beck was Derezzed I do believe he was captured or had to hide away afterall during the events of Tron Legacy we don't get to see what was going on. on the grid outside of the main plot.

@G Shr this is my own perspective but i think the different number of soldiers attacking might be a stylistic choice, and Dyson's absence in Legacy was because Uprising wasn't written yet. Tron may have a white suit in Uprising to highlight the fact that he's the Grid's protector while allowing Beck to "wear" his suit to look like Tron. as for things happening in different timings, i'm not sure either but they might be shown in different perspectives (Flynn, Tron, and Anon respectively), or it may just be because the scenes were directed by different people.
@Raikeran I guess they could just handwave it away by saying it's a retcon and that the most recent version of events is how it truly happened. I do wish the writers of Uprising and Evolution had been been able to work around the events as they were shown in Legacy however. Maybe if they ever revisit Clu's betrayal they'll be able to give us a definite version of events as they truly happened.
Basically Clue got infected by a virus and thought he had finally created the perfect system. he tried to take control of the grid. he made Flynn run in this scene which proves he's not as godly as most programs though he was. he injured Tron but didn't kill him as he saw Tron as a tool to take control. Tron escaped and went through the events of The series (Tron uprising) the series was left incomplete but story wise Tron got captured by Clue and converted into Rinzler where then Tron Legacy starts where Clue figures if he can get Flynns disc he can go to the real world and finish his goal "To create the perfect system". and with Tron (Rinzler) at his side all he needed was a decoy or way to draw out Flynn and thus went after Sam (Flynn's son).
@@Skyler_H clu didn't get infected by a virus. His goal of "create the perfect system" was completely out of what flynn wanted and he saw the isos as a flaw since they weren't created. Clu made the Abraxas virus that he used to try to convince flynn that the isos made it but flynn doesn't see that, which leads to clu saying fuck it and betray flynn
@@swivelysark I mean in the game "Tron evolution" this is the story plot and why they turned yellow/red/orange instead of the regular white/blue. also true except he didn't really betray flynn more like what he called out at the end of the film where Flynn gave up on Clu in order to persue the flaw which is why Clu sees it as Flynn betraying him. Clu was only following directions and doing as he was told to do.
my guess is, because Tron's primary objective was to protect Flynn, he wasn't able to fully focus on CLU, so while he was distracted, CLU took the chance to overpower him. to worsen the situation, CLU seems to have augmented strength since he was able to toss Sam several feet away when he tried to fight him, so CLU's power level could easily have rivaled Tron's. in short, CLU, along with his army's ambush, was able to beat Tron.
Rinzler is what CLU renamed Tron into when he repurposed him after the betrayal. Tron himself is in the game and show, but only uses the Rinzler suit as a disguise.

Clu is the System Admin, the Box that shows up and asks you if you want to run a program Yes or No. Flynn basically clicked Yes.

the show was supposed to get a second station but it got canceled, so the actual creation of Rinzler was never explained
