DJ should just make a DJ pocket 4 with an interchangeable gimbal, so it can take the one of the DJ Mavic Pro with its three cameras (the gimbal of the DJ Mavic would also need to be interchangeable) - push some button and the whole gimbal-camera setup comes off, for example
@9:45 That's not a con... that was your fault. The double-tap tracking is something special; it is very useful and works unless YOU make a mistake! (At least most of the time, with rare exceptions.) The footage you got was amazing! Think about it... The OP3 didn't screw that up, you just didn't use it correctly (understandable, given the situation.) so you missed the shot. Think about this as well; the tiny monitor is stuck on a 4K/60 that HONESTLY fits easily in your POCKET! Its size is INCREDIBLE for what it gives you. You just need to hone your skills to catch up with what it is offering you. @12:15 you can actually use one of the settings in the camera to see how the D-Log looks normally as you're filming! Not a con... I don't remember what it's called, but I think it shows what it would look like with D-Log to Rec 709 (presumably with the DJI D-Log M/Rec 709 LUT) as you shoot. Nice video! Lots of great info. I love my OP3.
"View Assist" is what it's called! I think you can see it while you're filming in the monitor , but if not you can see it in the Mimo app. Either way, you can count on it being god, so why worry?
I really think the term "cinematic"has been thrown around a lot, with no real explanation to what makes it such. From what i have seen in my experience, the fixed lens is not a hindrance to this (Tree of life was shot on a wide angle lens all throughout) to me, having more focus control or a diaphragm would have been great. Still, grading is the only way to really make the images standout from a common Vlog.
Can't agree more... I believe it's the framing, composition, lighting & then grading that makes a piece of image look cinematic and not the camera or lenses it self but yeah they give us more leverage and choice to help replicate what we envisioned...
You are a breath of fresh air… You are correct… Tree of life is an amazingly shot movie… With mostly wide angle lenses. And if I hear one more person called something cinematic… I’m going to slit my wrist. These people have no idea what the word even means.
I've kept my original Osmo Pocket from 2019 for exactly something you mentioned: the succeeding models have wider lenses, for me, too wide. I prefer the narrower field of view of the original Osmo, although it doesn't pack the same impressive hardware as the 3. Bonus: Original Osmo Pocket is so cheap on ebay I'm not worried about damage/loss/theft, I treat it as disposable.
They have the DJI Mavic Zoom which has a zoom lens built in and has similar gimbal size to this. That's my favorite drone because it has a built in zoom lens.
The pocket can't be beaten on form factor & speed... but if you're prepared to compromise slightly on those then next option is something like a sony ZV-1 (or mark2 version) + zhiyun m2 gimbal, you gain a flexible zoom lens with aperture control & built in ND
I think this coupled with a fuji 100vi is all you need for travel really. Both compact, both very capable and both outstanding in their own turf. One for photo shots and one for videos. Yes interchangeable lenses are nice to have but as you said, who the hell is gonna carry that around and fumble with it when youre traveling.
I can very much see people using a cheap 5 inch LCD camera monitor mounted to the handle to be able to see your shots a lot better similar to a cell phone or even slightly larger than an iPhone screen.
D-Log M footage display would be better if we could also load custom LUT's to see how finished sequences will look without burning the LUT into the recorded imagery.
Is they add a 50mm detachable lens instead of the wide angle crap, and make AI software update to the mimo up that can let you introduce depth of field and control it, or if dji somehow makes pocket camera with aps c sensor, they would have created the perfect camera, and break the curse that consumers were living under for years.
Great video! I just got my Pocket 3 a week ago (I had a pocket 2 years ago and returned it), this is a big improvement over the 2!! The footage you shot was incredible! One question: how did you manage to shoot the ground? Every time I lower the Pocket 3, the gimbal stays level....how can I change that so the gimbal follows the movement of the camera??
Hey Bruno, I've just found your channel and it is great. I am subscriber now :) I have a question. How do you travel with Blackmagic camera? What bag do you use for portability? If it is not video, maybe just comment something on what your bag is? Thank you.
Thanks with your practical review, i ended with same conclusion...the camera is just as good. There is a setting other than dlog m and there are manual setting.
I’m pretty sure DJI released a bigger version of this years ago that was basically the Inspire drone camera/gimbal on a pistol grip with interchangeable lenses (within reason). I pretty sure the community turned their collective noses up at it then. However, now with DJI being more prominent and more people vlogging, buying DJI Drones and wanting to do more action work without just defaulting to a GoPro.
Yeah their first attempt (Osmo Zenmuse) was a bit half baked, really poor autofocus and cumbersome as it had to be used with your phone... but they later miniaturised everything and made it a standalone device with built in screen with the pocket series and you can argue the Ronin 4d is their high end cinema camera take on the same concept.... they don't always get it right but they keep coming back until they do
Yeah I think it's great for social media! It has a vertical shooting mode. Look up some videos about shooting vertical on this thing and try to find out if it is something for you!
@@Bruno_Kay I saw the strange shoot sideways thing to get the best resolution, I m just trying to figure if the 2.7 would be ok. But on top of that I mainly shoot 50 or 100p for slow mo, so it could be a bit low res if I wanted to crop in on top of that
@@markshirley01If u shoot in the “open gate” 1:1 aspect ratio you should get the most resolution without losing too much of the actual content (+ u get the ability to shift the frame around), but I can’t remember off the top of my head what frame rates they let you shoot in
Until you can control the depth of field, these micro sensor cameras and their pretend lenses will not be cinematic. They say “35mm lens” or whatever but those lenses are not what they are listed. Those numbers actually have a physical meaning beyond how much is shown in the image. The lack of subject background separation is what makes it not feel cinematic to me.
@@Psysso I suppose mileage may vary. I've had two, both dropped onto concrete, shoulder high. If yours has been indestructible, good for you. As for me, I'm not rich enough to buy a third.
Good suggestion. Even though it's pocketable, it's not as convenient as the pocket 3. The pocket 3 with it's stabilisation and tracking features is quite impressive. If it could have the sensor of the LX100, it'd be perfect!
That shit is not cinematic at all!!! WTF is he talking about... everything is basicallly wide angle ?? naw dude.... How dare you use the word cinematic with this little bullshit camera

My Lord that shot of the kids on the scooter was slick. Excellent review!
I had the same thought 😄
"It's an absolute 10/10 video" 😂😂 true in 2 different ways. content creators can relate.

OP 3 is the best family camera to keep their life journey with great images easily. Big camera and heavy lens have come to their end.

love the short interaction with yourself behind the cam hahaha, subscribe! Hello from Singapore, aspiring filmmaker.

6:50 that's reason I'm considering this camera... hyperlapses made as easy and good as possible! Great video :)
Why didn't you colorgrade the footage? Looks like there is a lack of contrast and saturation
I agree, we need more focal length.
BTW, what utility did you use to see how often a search term was searched? That looked nifty. Thanks!

Awesome video man. id like to add that instead of a ninja walk, you can use a selfie stick which takes out so much of that awful up and down movement.

Your production quality was top notch man🔥🔥
Appreciate that!
Non d-log preview would be a great feature.
Great camera. The anamorphic lens you can attach really gives it that professional cinematic look.
Am done with built-in battery cameras and accessories. No '3' for me.
can you teach us how did you do the first effect the motion tracking its really cool
great video. great footage from the pocket 3. chatgpt... most feared filmmaker and content creator in the near future. 😅

Got to 7:20 i get it now. Lower quality but active track. I didn't know it had that. My bad. That is a fair trade off. I had the 1st Osmo.
It should be dust prof and rugged ....
My favourite camera, EDC
If only zoom lenses were available I'd buy it now.
Too bad it's so wide. A 35/40mm equivalent would make this little camera perfect.
good for Armature. yeap. for youtube, vlog.
Hi Bruno - I shoot 99% vertical for social media nowadays, do you still think the P3 is worth buying for this scenario.
Yeah I think it's great for social media! It has a vertical shooting mode. Look up some videos about shooting vertical on this thing and try to find out if it is something for you!

Enjoyed watching your video. Keep it up 👍
Thanks for the visit!

Maybe the shot was ruined, but it made for a great story for this video LOL!
Finally received yours in the mail?
damn engaging content u been putting out there brotha 💪 keep it up!
Thanks brotha! Will do!
sick vid
Built in battery cameras suck
My Osmo 1 built-in battery died, but the unit was working great. Am not buying the '3' for that reason.
nice video, almost laughed
Can i meet you I want to go to vietnam oneday and i want to make cinematic video with my pocket 3

Hold on, that was kids on scooter :)))
If you drop it, it's toast.
Not really , several reviewers have dropped it many times and i have yet to see it broke. Sure if it falls 8 stories but a simple tripod tumble, nah.

Why not a pocket M43 camera like the LX100? The Osmo is regrettable quality.

Yeah sound in this vid is bad because of a new mic. The other vids have great sound tho.
