Welcome to the beginning of my new and in-depth series, Kingdom Hearts Explained: The Story So Far. In episode I, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix Explained, I will be explaining the story of KH I FM. This video will provide a better understanding of the Kingdom Hearts lore and clarify the more vague elements of the KH I FM story. EDIT: Hey, everyone. I made a mistake in this episode. I stated that Mickey and Sora were not in Traverse Town at the same time. However, it’s come to my attention that Nomura confirmed in an interview for Re:coded that they actually were there at the same time. I apologize for the confusion. At first I thought this would be something to put on in the background, then I ended up sitting and watching it through with my full attention, albeit in a couple of sessions. Great video, very interested to see more of these, especially since it details so much that's put into the madness that is Kingdom Hearts' World (universe?) that many people likely don't know.

One question I've always had in regards to when a Keyblade Wielder first summons their Keyblade is: What does its initial appearance rely on? Is it dependent on the wielders personality? Something important to them? Or is it something else entirely?
These are the answers I need 😂
I need those answers too lol. The only thing we have confirmation on is that the Master of Masters was able to create Keyblades by pulling them from hearts, and he modeled these Keyblades after the X-blade. But it’s still unclear as to whether this is the standard method to create Keyblades.

Been watching through this in parts, its really good, you really go above and beyond in these videos. I also really liked your video explaining the Lifestream, its really amazing and insightful. Also want to say that the heart and mind being connected within KH isn't just a KH thing, I know that KH really emphasizes and delves deep into what the heart is, but that's true for the heart in reality, it is a makeup and representation of our whole being.

I greatly appreciate this video. I like to pride myself on being incredibly knowledgeable on the subject of kingdom hearts, and i found that a large amount of my thoughts on the lore were in fact correct. That being said, there was still plenty i didn’t know or even think about that you shed a much needed light on (no pun intended.) Im excitedly looking forward to the next body of work/research to be completed.
Thank you! I was actually in the middle of doing research for episode II, but I put that on pause to make shorts related to episode I, which I just finished up. Right now, I’m doing a speed run through the Japanese version of KH III + Remind because my next video is going to be centered around KH III, so I need to gather some of the Japanese text from Jiminy’s Journal entries. After I release that video, I’m going to resume work on episode II of The Story So Far series.

At around 33:00 you mention some details about the doors. The doors themselves should be quite openable as they're unlocked, in a sense. They can be opened by anyone who has the power to wield a blade and has the desire to see it opened, but a normal person wouldn't be able to budge it. A Heartless can force its ways through by destroying the door and gaining unhindered access to the Heart.
Xehanort could swing the door open because it was already unlocked and he was a Keybearer, but it's possible that Braig/Luxu, who was active at this time and laying groundwork, was pulling strings in the background to make sure this happened. Even if he just used his presence and knowledge to 'will' the door to open.
I think it was Luxu as well. I’m hoping this will be addressed in Missing Link because that game, for all intents and purposes, should answer any leftover mysteries.
@@mezuGC Indeed. Though it's still just as easy to say it's Xehanort himself. He has the power, and wouldn't assume there was some special way to open the door. Simply expecting it to open because that's what doors should do was plenty for Riku to open his own, so Xehanort should fall under the same idea.
@@mezuGC One other thing that came to mind, I think the explanation on Heartless may need an addendum, or my info is out of date. Purebloods collect hearts but immediately dump them wherever they keep hearts to create a Kingdom Hearts, or consume them if not being led by a master. Emblems will actually use captured hearts to create more Emblems: see the Traverse death in Kh1.
It's why the Organization focused primarily on Emblems, as they were the heart tanks that fulfilled their goal. Purebloods were thinned only because they would destroy worlds if left to fester.
@SparkTheKirin Whether it’s a Pureblood or an Emblem, the hearts they steal become Heartless. However, only Emblems release hearts. The reasoning behind this is still vague, as far as I can find. But essentially, as I stated in this video, Emblems are hearts that are trapped in darkness. I say this because in the KH III ultimania, it’s stated that the Kingdom Hearts that the Organization created was a “collection of hearts freed from the darkness of the Heartless.” So, Purebloods are hearts that have transformed into Heartless naturally, and Emblems are hearts that are trapped within darkness. This may also explain why there’s such a wide variety of Emblems, because they seemingly take a similar form to whoever’s heart they trap.
Is it the best? Debatable, but it's perfect to me! Also would love to see a good analysis of another side another story and deep dive at some point!
Thanks! So, I deliberately left out Another side and Deep dive because they’re essentially just cutscenes from future games, which I’m going to explain anyway. If I spoke about them here, the video would have been even longer, and I felt it was long enough already.
@@mezuGC that's what I kind of figured, but once ya do those relevant games I'd love to see ideas that made it and ideas left on the cutting room floor. Like just yesterday I saw a really good theory about deep dives countdown and that 2, 7, 8, 10, and 13 are all roman numerals while the rest are numbers. Shit like that would be awesome to see from your perspective with the ultimatimania and stuff!

You know now that I think about it and people wanted to voice to be some omnipotent being, it made sense it’s the king since he has the power of waking
I don’t really think it has anything to do with the power of waking, to be honest. The power of waking isn’t necessary for speaking to someone’s heart. Also, if the King had the power of waking at that time, he would’ve used it to enter the realm of darkness, instead of going through a corridor of darkness. Keep in mind that the power of waking wasn’t a thing until Dream Drop Distance.
I didn't think I would learn something but I did it was something small but enough for me to say "danm I didn't know that" it was that the mystery voice was king Mickey and if I did know that I had forgotten

So what if a soul becomes corrupted?A heartless body is a nobody, a dark heart is a heartless, but what about a darkned soul? Is it just a battery?
Not sure, to be honest. Maybe that will be explored one day.

I don't see a soul falling into darkness. As far as has been said, the soul is just a battery that gives life to the body, a person without a soul dies definitively, a soul has no light or darkness, this role belongs to the heart.

So, unless i Heard wrong, there was something of a throwaway line of Merlin being from the future or time traveling or something to that result. Is that in reference to TR in KH 2 or am i missing something
I wouldn’t say it’s a KH II reference. It’s just a random fun fact from the KH I ultimania that I wanted to include.
