If your scared of the liquid coolers, I can vouch for the Noctua nh-d15. I have one and it is a beast, very silent to boot. Only gripe is it hogs alot of room, can be a pain to do things like check your cables or upgrade ram.
I feel like people are a little too obsessed with the 5000 series temps..they are designed to run hotter, they will be fine. Im using a coolermaster 212 black on a 5800x. Seen it get up to 76c or so. Who cares, it can handle that.
Assassin 3 is great, temps are unbelievably low. Ram clearance is of course an issue, but as someone who's not too big on RGB the solution was quite easy: remove a heat spreader. Note: yes you can move the fan up but then A) you lose a bit of cooling performance and B) you have to check your case's max cpu height spec to make sure it still fits (mine didn't with low profile heat spreader in CM NR600)
I'm working on a mini itx build right now and I'm going for the be quiet pure loop 280. It has the pump attached to the tubes instead of the cpu block, which seems to make it super quiet. It also comes with a bottle of coolant, so they want the owner to refill it every couple of years, making it last longer. All in all, I think it really seems to be worth the price.
I probably won't be upgrading my cooler this year (in preparation for AMD's transition to the AM5 socket), but if the coolers end up being compatible, I will definitely be coming back! Good work, sir!
@@ryzenbeast4497 I've had it for 3 months. I haven't had any problems with it. I have it top mounted in the push configuration (exhaust). With the AMD Wraith Prism, it would run a little hot when running cinebench, so I upgraded to the AIO. It still runs a bit warm but I feel better about it now. No leaks or weird noises yet.
I needed this video. I’ve been thinking about getting an AIO for my 5900x but couldn’t figure out what to get, finally after watching this video I’ve narrowed it down to either the ARCTIC liquid freezer II 280 or the Kraken Z63 but now I’m a lot more comfortable that I won’t make a choice I’ll regret. Got a 5900X a couple of weeks ago, and because I ported over my 32GB RAM and Noctua NH-D14 I was able to afford a beefier CPU. The D14 is working fine in spite of it being 10 years old, and the Noctua fans are still almost silent.
Now that I came into overclocking my Amd Cooler isn’t enough more. So I watched this detailed guide and ordered a artic esports 34 duo cooler. It will arrive next week, I’m pretty exited to see the results.

@@raishini9896 It is much better than expected. I have some decent overclocks on my 3700X and the Artic 34 is handling it like a beast. Gets around 50C while gaming. Not only that but it also looks extremely good in my all blacked out build. It is 1mm before it would have touched the side panel 😀👍
I think the cooler that AMD supplies with Ryzen 5000 CPUs are good enough unless you want to overclock. Cooler Master T20 Hyper air cooler is a very good cooler. Liquid coolers are a bit expensive.This guy has given a detailed explanation on the cpu coolers, your budget requirements, for all users. Definitely a great video for pc users.
@@jacobmontes5000 No, the wraith spire cooler is designed for 65 watts TDP. The Ryzen 7 5800x has 105 watts TDP. It can go upto 120 watts under heavy load. The wraith prism cooler is good enough for Ryzen 7 5800x. You can also use a good cpu cooler like cooler master T20 or liquid cooler if you want.
There was no cooler with my 5800X. I tried the stock cooler from the 3500X with it and the CPU was 70-80% when idle which is way too much even for this particular CPU.
@@josepmariasebastian8886 Ryzen 5800X, better go with water cooler it should work very well. Choose from brands like Cooler Master, MSI, Deep Cool , Corsair etc., 👍👍👍👍👍.
Don't forget about the slightly slimmer sibling to the Noctua NH-D15, the NH-D15S (both come in the chromax black versions as well). I think the D15S has some advantages over the D15.
@@spekenbonen72 It's pretty much the same story here too, even with a Ryzen 9 5900X. Light workloads and heavy browser use only push it up to 34°C. Even the most strenuous 3D rendering workloads get it up to about 56°C, and with my 5000D Airflow case and collection of Noctua Redux case fans it cools back down below 30°C within ten seconds after finishing more demanding tasks.

one thing i found this year was the GELID solutions glacier... its REALLY good 6 heatpipes, 2x tower design, RGB, full black option dirt cheap and performs stupidly well i found it for 40€ and for the price it is literally unbeatable - it just punches WAAAY above its price class
Surprisingly my 240mm Corsair liquid AIO (I think it's an H100) still works after 10 years, although I had to reapply new thermal paste 3 years ago as my temps started to spike. I'll probably try a Noctua air cooler on my new build as noise is a big concern of mine (I replaced the loud Corsair AIO fans with Noctua because I didn't like hearing an airplane taking off all of the time).
I have a 5800x and an NZXT Kraken Z73 and I can confirm that they do run toasty. That said, through my own unscientific testing (trying different coolers I had laying around and pulling clocks from Ryzen Master) I can also confirm that (at least)the 5800x targets to temperature off available power, as my max temperatures were nearly identical across all coolers, but the max clock trended downward on the cheaper coolers (it really wasn't a fan of the old $20 CoolerMaster that I keep around for emergencies.)
Yes the 5800X seems to be the best at using up all available cooling under load. We've come to confuse "lower temps at load" and "performance". Basically Ryzen 5000 is extremely efficient at eating up all available cooling to pump out as much performance as possible.
Noctua always ftw. Imo, the best air coolers on the market and very quiet. I know that you need to pay a lot for them, but build quality, performance and silent operation is worth every penny. I bought mine nh-d14 7 years ago, used that in 3 different builds and still cooler is going very strong 💪
I am happy user of noctua nh dh 14 for over 8 years and i must say it's a beast. Also after upgrading my motherboard it comes with free mounting kit from noctua.

The deepcool v2 is truly a great cooler. Its performance rivals $60+ coolers. My 5600x never goes above 87 cel even at 30 cel ambient temp in the summer; usually 75 cel at 21 cel ambient temp. It does get loud at max speed, but only if you sit in a silent room. The noise is not noticeable if you have speakers/headset on.
@@tranxyvalo1120 I would if yours is getting that hot for whatever reason. I use the stock fan with my 5600x and haven’t went above 84ish degree Celsius. May be a problem above just what cpu cooler you’re using

I recently purchased a be quiet pure loop 240mm aio for my ryzen 5 3600 oc to 4.4ghz @1.2875v all core and switched the stock pure winds 2 fans for 2x scythe wonder snail 120mm's. The thermal performance is great. Awesome video man and keep up the great content.
Planning on upgrading from the 5600x to the 5800x3D if prices aren't crazy and performance is worth it, recently downgraded from the Mugen 5 to the SE-224-XT since the results it got were pretty damn impressive for such a small tower, replaced the fan with a Phanteks T30 and planning on keeping it as is, seems like just changing PBO limits for 5800x keeps it much cooler (and less power hungry) while keeping performance mostly the same so probably worth looking into for 5800x owners reading this. Some tests i've done with my 5600x @25c ambient temp: 5600x PBO off (PPT 76w, TDC 60a, EDC 90a) - 76w draw and 54c (CPU-Z Stress & R20), 641 single-core 4900 multi-core (CPU-Z bench) 5600x PBO auto (PPT 500w, TDC 130a, EDC 110a) - 105w draw and 67c (CPU-Z Stress & R20), 644 single-core 5100 multi-core (CPU-Z bench) Terribly inefficient when using PBO auto (in my case at least), +13c and +29w for 5% more multi-thread performance, definitely recommend Zen 3 owners who are unhappy with their temps to check bios settings as on some cases it might be turned on by default, and those with 5800x check into tweaking PPT/TDC/EDC, likely to have a big drop in temps and power draw while keeping performance the same (depending on values chosen). I'm feeling pretty confident in the SE-224-XT + T30 combo now as all Zen 3 at stock will draw 120-130w worst case, though YMMV depending on case and ambient temps EDIT: Ended up buying a 5800x for $300 just now on a sale lmao, will test it in 2-3 weeks
@@user-zz4rq7th5j Hey yeah, just gonna copypaste my other comment, but been peaking around 65c gaming on hot days (31c ambient) and 60c when ambient is 24c or lower, and R20 temps are a bit lower than that > Got my 5800x a few days ago (upgraded from 5600x), gonna leave my results from some quick testing, tested at 31c ambient with the SE-224-XT heatsink + Phanteks T30 + Lancool 2 Mesh case, my results in CPU-Z (single/multi) and R20 were: Stock PPT/TDC/EDC 142w/95a/140a: 78c CPU-Z (656/6650), 82c R20 (5950~) 110w/85a/100a: 68c CPU-Z (658/6600), 70c R20 (5750~) 95w/60a/90a: 64c CPU-Z (658/6420), 63c R20 (5550~) 95w/60a/90a + CO (-15 2 best cores, -20 rest): 65c CPU-Z (670/6645), 62c R20 (5710~) Pretty happy with the efficiency at 95w PPT, the upgrade cost me $15 and gives me roughly 30-35% better multi-core performance, 5-6c higher temps and 19w higher than the 5600x, pretty happy with those results considering the high ambient temps lately, can definitely understand the high temp complaints for those running at stock or maybe even higher PBO limits/boost clock override

My 5800x maxes out at 82C with %100 load. During gaming 1440 ultra It will spike to 55 degrees, usually hovering around 50. Lapped IHS, Lapped AIO block, Arctic 280mm ($115), and kryonaut. Also, I only run 1.262V core, and chip will still boost past 5ghz
Just purchased the Noctua NH-U12S Redux to use on an AMD 5600x. They went Grey instead of Brow/Tan or Black and I like the looks. Hopefully they keep offering this variant and maybe move it into the other lines.

I just came from a few generations of cold ass CPUs to the 5600x and seeing 95c almost made me shut down the PC...so glad to hear these are "normal temps".. I'm still getting an aftermarket cooler tho.
Using a Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black with my Ryzen 5600x and it never goes above 70°C no matter how hard I push it, and it’s stable running at 4.75 GHz for all cores. Well worth the money spent.

Just installed a Corsair ML360P, into a build, the controller that came with the box was very interesting and fun to setup even if a bit complex. But it was glitchy and not all my RGB was working correctly or in sync. So even though I had fun cabling it up, I ended up dirching it just using the ARGB headers on the motherboard and now things are flawless. Picked up an Artic EVO 34 'single' for another build. The duo's are very hard to find in Europe. Nice review.

My 5950x has NEVER gotten over 72c under load. It idles at low 30's. I use a Corsair H115i Platinum RBG 280mm. I used a Cooler Master 212 Hyper prior to the AIO and still never had any issues. The idle temp ran in the 40's though. My workflow is real estate photo and 4k & 6k video editing for my business, with gaming when I have time.
Corsair h115i is very good, if I had more time I would have included that series. Yes, you can cool a 5950X with something like a 212 if you aren't going to stress it. In this video I'm essentially assuming a heavy load scenario (all cores over a heavy hour+ long workload) just so I hit everything. In most cases the recommendations will be slight overkill (especially if just gaming or lightly threaded workloads).

I don't buy cheap coolers since many years anymore. Since I bought a Noctua NH-C12P SE14 in 2011 I used this cooler for 10 years! Noctua sent me for free the mount conversion kit for my last AM4 CPU. I recently bought a new Noctua NH-U12A which will last me a couple of years again.
The best cooler are Noctua NH-D15, Premium CPU Cooler with 2x NF-A15 PWM 140mm Fans (Brown) - personally I am very happy with that :)) - definitely suggested!
Thanks for a video which is both concise and informative. I was fortunate score a 5900X at MSRP and a 6700XT at close to it, so I could go ahead with my build. I was hesitant between an AIO and an air cooler. After some research I decided for a Be Quiet Dark Rock 4. In addition of the stock 135 mm fan, it does come with an extra set of wire brackets so you can slap a 120 mm fan to the front of the cooling tower thus making it into a push-pull configuration. That’s what I did. Currently I got the system on a mild DOCP overclock and CPU temps (according to CUPID HWMonitor) is around 40 C on idle and 60 - 65 C while heavy gaming (Cyberpunk 2077). I must say I’m very happy with this cooling solution
I'm trying to decide between dark rock 4 and pro. Just to clarify, you got the original and not the pro, right? Some ppl said pro is truly an overkill for 5000 series.

You explain the concept, recommendations, and why those recommendations make sense for an average buyer situation. real-world advice. I finally assembled my PC parts this weekend (first outside as to ensure everything works and then yesterday inside the case) and I am using the amazing Arctic Liquid freezer II 420 mm AIO for my 5950X CPU. This is in a meshify 2 case, low height corsair LPX 3600Mhz 64GB RAM to accommodate the RAM height limitation in the case with such a wide AIO. But it looks like Gigabyte has made the shroud on the B550 Aorus master board a bit fat by a few mm and it is making it a tight fit with the radiator pressing onto it. I managed to tighten and close the case but the top is not comfortable and is off by a few mm. The side panel is closing but it is not completely flush with the case. hopefully, it will not release and fall away. Motherboard makers are making the shrouds fatter with LEDs and graphics, hopefully, the case makers will also compensate and give a bit more room with fat motherboards and fat AIO combination
So the top mounted AIO is rubbing against the top of the motherboard? is the case bent a little? Sometimes hard to see. If not, could you slightly bend the mount or case to alleviate this? If you have the whole thing together, I'm not sure I'd worry about it.

Such a cool video, indeed 😆👍 I've got me a Noctua nh-d15 chromax.black for my Ryzen 9 5900x. I get from 30 to 34ºC on idle. On Cinebench it keeps on 63°C as an average. I've never seen my CPU above 70°C yet and I am playing hard, with max settings for long time. I am fully recommending Noctua, this beast does not even make any sound when cooling your cpu.
@@sampritdas3442 My case is the NZXT Noctis 450 Rog. Airflow comes from the frontal (3 fans) and then it goes out of the case by the top and back of the case. I just have 3 fan at the front and 1 at back.
Great video and really solid recommendations. I went air for my 5950x build because I just love the aestatics and ease of mind of a good quality aircooler. I went for a BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 4. It's an amazing cooler and I actually left off the front fan so I can enjoy the memory rgb. And it still PBO overclocks to 4.3GHz all core and 5Ghz single core with 84C.
I love Arctic and EK and using them both. For me, they are the best value for the money. I used to have Noctua NH-D15 Chromax but wasn't enough for either my 5900x or 10850k when OC'd from my personal experience. If you are after the value and performance my suggestion would be - Overclocked 5900x/ Overclocked 5950x - Arctic LF II 420mm AIO - Stock 5900x, Stock 5950x, and Overclocked 5800x - Arctic LF II 360mm AIO or EK AIO 360mm AIO - Stock 5800x - any 240mm/280mm AIO or higher/ any high-end Air Coolers from this video - 5600x - any AIO or Air Coolers from this video
EK does have quality control issues (gunk in loop system) that I've seen so far.. makes me weary of them for now otherwise it keeps me hopping between Arctic and EK.. can't decide what to purchase

Soooo just few weeks ago I went out and got myself the EK 360 rgb, it looks great and has uhrm... A little bit of overkill Performance for my "little" 5600x but I wanted to be futureproof as I want to get a 5700x, maybe 5800x. Nice Video, wished you had included some more rgb aircoolers but yeah I'm propably the only one with the wish. By the way, interesting fact with the tdp of r5000, gonna inform myself about that. Oh also, I forgot that some low profile air coolers would have been reeally nice too, I know there is one by noctua and I personally am looking for one (maybe for the upcoming itx Build) but as it isn't that big of a niche I think it's not too bad u didn't include them but just sayin', keep up!
I am planning to build a new Amd 5900x system. Coming from Intel this will be my first amd build and your videos helped a lot in choosing the right RAM, MOBO and AIO Cooler to pair with the processor.

@@PCBuilderChannel It's easy to install outside the case, it looks great and the cooling is also great, but it is a bit on the noisy end, to me at least, but I guess it boils down to that this is my first AMD build, and the 5800x is running at higher temperatures than I've ever seen on Intel. But after watching this I would have gotten the Arctic AIO for the same money.

I had a MSI MAG AIO 360R, 5 months in of owning it, pump failed, 5900x overheats within minutes, ended up getting EK D-RGB 360, can’t wait for it to come in.
I've got 5800x and I"m really worried about what are safe operating temperatures in terms of longevity. High temperature, AFAIK, can do the following things: 1) dry out the thermal paste, 2) frequent changes in temperature can destroy CPU parts, 3) some parts just degrade faster over time on high temps. Additionally: you can increase the fan speed, but that will wear out the fans faster. => Currently I'm operating the CPU in Eco Mode, but I'd like to be more sure how bad 95 Celsius degrees is to my CPU, or whatever the highest temp my CPU can get with the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler.

dark rock pro 4 is such a beast, and the 5000 chips run hot, it keeps them cool enough to OC without throttling any
Got a 5900X a couple of weeks ago, and because I ported over my 32GB RAM and Noctua NH-D14 I was able to afford a beefier CPU. The D14 is working fine in spite of it being 10 years old, and the Noctua fans are still almost silent.
Now that I came into overclocking my Amd Cooler isn’t enough more. So I watched this detailed guide and ordered a artic esports 34 duo cooler. It will arrive next week, I’m pretty exited to see the results.

@@raishini9896 It is much better than expected. I have some decent overclocks on my 3700X and the Artic 34 is handling it like a beast. Gets around 50C while gaming. Not only that but it also looks extremely good in my all blacked out build. It is 1mm before it would have touched the side panel 😀👍

I think the cooler that AMD supplies with Ryzen 5000 CPUs are good enough unless you want to overclock. Cooler Master T20 Hyper air cooler is a very good cooler. Liquid coolers are a bit expensive.This guy has given a detailed explanation on the cpu coolers, your budget requirements, for all users. Definitely a great video for pc users.
Can I use the and wraith spire cooler with the 5800x?
@@jacobmontes5000 No, the wraith spire cooler is designed for 65 watts TDP. The Ryzen 7 5800x has 105 watts TDP. It can go upto 120 watts under heavy load. The wraith prism cooler is good enough for Ryzen 7 5800x. You can also use a good cpu cooler like cooler master T20 or liquid cooler if you want.
There was no cooler with my 5800X. I tried the stock cooler from the 3500X with it and the CPU was 70-80% when idle which is way too much even for this particular CPU.
@@josepmariasebastian8886 Ryzen 5800X, better go with water cooler it should work very well. Choose from brands like Cooler Master, MSI, Deep Cool , Corsair etc., 👍👍👍👍👍.
Don't forget about the slightly slimmer sibling to the Noctua NH-D15, the NH-D15S (both come in the chromax black versions as well). I think the D15S has some advantages over the D15.
Mine runs 28C idle, 60C full load. 4 banks of RAM in an AKASA eclipse case.
No leak risk... more then enough room.
@@spekenbonen72 It's pretty much the same story here too, even with a Ryzen 9 5900X. Light workloads and heavy browser use only push it up to 34°C.
Even the most strenuous 3D rendering workloads get it up to about 56°C, and with my 5000D Airflow case and collection of Noctua Redux case fans it cools back down below 30°C within ten seconds after finishing more demanding tasks.
I run my D15s on my 3900x 80c unser load at 4,25 allcore

one thing i found this year was the GELID solutions glacier... its REALLY good
6 heatpipes, 2x tower design, RGB, full black option dirt cheap and performs stupidly well i found it for 40€ and for the price it is literally unbeatable - it just punches WAAAY above its price class
Surprisingly my 240mm Corsair liquid AIO (I think it's an H100) still works after 10 years, although I had to reapply new thermal paste 3 years ago as my temps started to spike. I'll probably try a Noctua air cooler on my new build as noise is a big concern of mine (I replaced the loud Corsair AIO fans with Noctua because I didn't like hearing an airplane taking off all of the time).

I have a 5800x and an NZXT Kraken Z73 and I can confirm that they do run toasty.
That said, through my own unscientific testing (trying different coolers I had laying around and pulling clocks from Ryzen Master) I can also confirm that (at least)the 5800x targets to temperature off available power, as my max temperatures were nearly identical across all coolers, but the max clock trended downward on the cheaper coolers (it really wasn't a fan of the old $20 CoolerMaster that I keep around for emergencies.)
Yes the 5800X seems to be the best at using up all available cooling under load. We've come to confuse "lower temps at load" and "performance". Basically Ryzen 5000 is extremely efficient at eating up all available cooling to pump out as much performance as possible.

Imo, the best air coolers on the market and very quiet. I know that you need to pay a lot for them, but build quality, performance and silent operation is worth every penny.
I bought mine nh-d14 7 years ago, used that in 3 different builds and still cooler is going very strong 💪

The deepcool v2 is truly a great cooler. Its performance rivals $60+ coolers. My 5600x never goes above 87 cel even at 30 cel ambient temp in the summer; usually 75 cel at 21 cel ambient temp. It does get loud at max speed, but only if you sit in a silent room. The noise is not noticeable if you have speakers/headset on.

I recently purchased a be quiet pure loop 240mm aio for my ryzen 5 3600 oc to 4.4ghz @1.2875v all core and switched the stock pure winds 2 fans for 2x scythe wonder snail 120mm's. The thermal performance is great. Awesome video man and keep up the great content.

Planning on upgrading from the 5600x to the 5800x3D if prices aren't crazy and performance is worth it, recently downgraded from the Mugen 5 to the SE-224-XT since the results it got were pretty damn impressive for such a small tower, replaced the fan with a Phanteks T30 and planning on keeping it as is, seems like just changing PBO limits for 5800x keeps it much cooler (and less power hungry) while keeping performance mostly the same so probably worth looking into for 5800x owners reading this. Some tests i've done with my 5600x @25c ambient temp:
5600x PBO off (PPT 76w, TDC 60a, EDC 90a) - 76w draw and 54c (CPU-Z Stress & R20), 641 single-core 4900 multi-core (CPU-Z bench)
5600x PBO auto (PPT 500w, TDC 130a, EDC 110a) - 105w draw and 67c (CPU-Z Stress & R20), 644 single-core 5100 multi-core (CPU-Z bench)
Terribly inefficient when using PBO auto (in my case at least), +13c and +29w for 5% more multi-thread performance, definitely recommend Zen 3 owners who are unhappy with their temps to check bios settings as on some cases it might be turned on by default, and those with 5800x check into tweaking PPT/TDC/EDC, likely to have a big drop in temps and power draw while keeping performance the same (depending on values chosen). I'm feeling pretty confident in the SE-224-XT + T30 combo now as all Zen 3 at stock will draw 120-130w worst case, though YMMV depending on case and ambient temps
EDIT: Ended up buying a 5800x for $300 just now on a sale lmao, will test it in 2-3 weeks

Pretty happy with the efficiency at 95w PPT, the upgrade cost me $15 and gives me roughly 30-35% better multi-core performance, 5-6c higher temps and 19w higher than the 5600x, pretty happy with those results considering the high ambient temps lately, can definitely understand the high temp complaints for those running at stock or maybe even higher PBO limits/boost clock override

My 5800x maxes out at 82C with %100 load. During gaming 1440 ultra It will spike to 55 degrees, usually hovering around 50. Lapped IHS, Lapped AIO block, Arctic 280mm ($115), and kryonaut. Also, I only run 1.262V core, and chip will still boost past 5ghz
I have Noctua NH-D15 (black) so far I like it a lot.

Just purchased the Noctua NH-U12S Redux to use on an AMD 5600x. They went Grey instead of Brow/Tan or Black and I like the looks. Hopefully they keep offering this variant and maybe move it into the other lines.

I just came from a few generations of cold ass CPUs to the 5600x and seeing 95c almost made me shut down the PC...so glad to hear these are "normal temps".. I'm still getting an aftermarket cooler tho.
Using a Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black with my Ryzen 5600x and it never goes above 70°C no matter how hard I push it, and it’s stable running at 4.75 GHz for all cores.
Well worth the money spent.

Just installed a Corsair ML360P, into a build, the controller that came with the box was very interesting and fun to setup even if a bit complex. But it was glitchy and not all my RGB was working correctly or in sync. So even though I had fun cabling it up, I ended up dirching it just using the ARGB headers on the motherboard and now things are flawless. Picked up an Artic EVO 34 'single' for another build. The duo's are very hard to find in Europe. Nice review.

My 5950x has NEVER gotten over 72c under load. It idles at low 30's. I use a Corsair H115i Platinum RBG 280mm. I used a Cooler Master 212 Hyper prior to the AIO and still never had any issues. The idle temp ran in the 40's though. My workflow is real estate photo and 4k & 6k video editing for my business, with gaming when I have time.
Corsair h115i is very good, if I had more time I would have included that series. Yes, you can cool a 5950X with something like a 212 if you aren't going to stress it. In this video I'm essentially assuming a heavy load scenario (all cores over a heavy hour+ long workload) just so I hit everything. In most cases the recommendations will be slight overkill (especially if just gaming or lightly threaded workloads).

I don't buy cheap coolers since many years anymore. Since I bought a Noctua NH-C12P SE14 in 2011 I used this cooler for 10 years! Noctua sent me for free the mount conversion kit for my last AM4 CPU. I recently bought a new Noctua NH-U12A which will last me a couple of years again.

The best cooler are Noctua NH-D15, Premium CPU Cooler with 2x NF-A15 PWM 140mm Fans (Brown) - personally I am very happy with that :)) - definitely suggested!
Thanks for a video which is both concise and informative. I was fortunate score a 5900X at MSRP and a 6700XT at close to it, so I could go ahead with my build. I was hesitant between an AIO and an air cooler. After some research I decided for a Be Quiet Dark Rock 4. In addition of the stock 135 mm fan, it does come with an extra set of wire brackets so you can slap a 120 mm fan to the front of the cooling tower thus making it into a push-pull configuration. That’s what I did. Currently I got the system on a mild DOCP overclock and CPU temps (according to CUPID HWMonitor) is around 40 C on idle and 60 - 65 C while heavy gaming (Cyberpunk 2077). I must say I’m very happy with this cooling solution

I'm trying to decide between dark rock 4 and pro. Just to clarify, you got the original and not the pro, right? Some ppl said pro is truly an overkill for 5000 series.
videos on your channel are one of the most useful and value for time around. You explain the concept, recommendations, and why those recommendations make sense for an average buyer situation. real-world advice.
I finally assembled my PC parts this weekend (first outside as to ensure everything works and then yesterday inside the case) and I am using the amazing Arctic Liquid freezer II 420 mm AIO for my 5950X CPU. This is in a meshify 2 case, low height corsair LPX 3600Mhz 64GB RAM to accommodate the RAM height limitation in the case with such a wide AIO.
But it looks like Gigabyte has made the shroud on the B550 Aorus master board a bit fat by a few mm and it is making it a tight fit with the radiator pressing onto it. I managed to tighten and close the case but the top is not comfortable and is off by a few mm. The side panel is closing but it is not completely flush with the case. hopefully, it will not release and fall away. Motherboard makers are making the shrouds fatter with LEDs and graphics, hopefully, the case makers will also compensate and give a bit more room with fat motherboards and fat AIO combination
So the top mounted AIO is rubbing against the top of the motherboard? is the case bent a little? Sometimes hard to see. If not, could you slightly bend the mount or case to alleviate this? If you have the whole thing together, I'm not sure I'd worry about it.

Such a cool video, indeed 😆👍 I've got me a Noctua nh-d15 chromax.black for my Ryzen 9 5900x. I get from 30 to 34ºC on idle. On Cinebench it keeps on 63°C as an average. I've never seen my CPU above 70°C yet and I am playing hard, with max settings for long time.
I am fully recommending Noctua, this beast does not even make any sound when cooling your cpu.

@@sampritdas3442 My case is the NZXT Noctis 450 Rog. Airflow comes from the frontal (3 fans) and then it goes out of the case by the top and back of the case. I just have 3 fan at the front and 1 at back.
Great video and really solid recommendations. I went air for my 5950x build because I just love the aestatics and ease of mind of a good quality aircooler. I went for a BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 4. It's an amazing cooler and I actually left off the front fan so I can enjoy the memory rgb. And it still PBO overclocks to 4.3GHz all core and 5Ghz single core with 84C.

I love Arctic and EK and using them both. For me, they are the best value for the money. I used to have Noctua NH-D15 Chromax but wasn't enough for either my 5900x or 10850k when OC'd from my personal experience. If you are after the value and performance my suggestion would be
- Overclocked 5900x/ Overclocked 5950x - Arctic LF II 420mm AIO
- Stock 5900x, Stock 5950x, and Overclocked 5800x - Arctic LF II 360mm AIO or EK AIO 360mm AIO
- Stock 5800x - any 240mm/280mm AIO or higher/ any high-end Air Coolers from this video
- 5600x - any AIO or Air Coolers from this video
EK and Arctic are killing it for the high end AIOs right now.
EK does have quality control issues (gunk in loop system) that I've seen so far.. makes me weary of them for now otherwise it keeps me hopping between Arctic and EK.. can't decide what to purchase

Soooo just few weeks ago I went out and got myself the EK 360 rgb, it looks great and has uhrm... A little bit of overkill Performance for my "little" 5600x but I wanted to be futureproof as I want to get a 5700x, maybe 5800x.

@@PCBuilderChannel It's easy to install outside the case, it looks great and the cooling is also great, but it is a bit on the noisy end, to me at least, but I guess it boils down to that this is my first AMD build, and the 5800x is running at higher temperatures than I've ever seen on Intel. But after watching this I would have gotten the Arctic AIO for the same money.
I can't decide what is best for 24/7 operation. So far, air has never failed me but it seems like things are changing.

I've got 5800x and I"m really worried about what are safe operating temperatures in terms of longevity. High temperature, AFAIK, can do the following things: 1) dry out the thermal paste, 2) frequent changes in temperature can destroy CPU parts, 3) some parts just degrade faster over time on high temps. Additionally: you can increase the fan speed, but that will wear out the fans faster. => Currently I'm operating the CPU in Eco Mode, but I'd like to be more sure how bad 95 Celsius degrees is to my CPU, or whatever the highest temp my CPU can get with the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler.
That’s a really beefy good cooler. AMD says it’s safe up to 90 degrees.
use PBO2 with curve optimizer.
