So this assumes there is a street drain? I've never seen any vertical pipes at the corners of the house. Does that mean there is NO footer / perimeter drain?

Interesting. A lot of places it's against city ordnance to drain your gutters to the city sewer.

for new-con, depending on the age of your house, it was the default, with a connection to your weepers at your floor drain, however, its rare that gutters are attached - they only did that for a short time in the early 80's. Generally its only window well drainage attaching to your weeping system.

Not sewer, rain system, some cities made cisterns illegal instead.

I would say cheaper than having the entire area dug up and exterior waterproofing applied. Especially if the house has a basement. Plus if it's a home that you're not familiar with, then after the work is done you know how everything is designed and where things are located.

I had a flood in the basement of my 1972 home in January, lived here since January 2003 and never had a problem before...I am looking on RUclips as I’m a widow and terrified of being taken advantage of by some slick fast talkers ...I hope this is the way to fix the perimeter drain failure situation as I didn’t want to have to dug up the yard....having a fixed marginal income I have to be careful and diligent.
Perhaps I’ll call Roto-Rooter next week.

@@morepreciousthangold442 It's possible that it is a gutter blockage problem. My new house...it had water in basement. I saw that the gutters were blocked. Nobody else wanted to buy it. I got it for significantly less. Relatively cheap gutter drain cleaning, no more water in basement!

Robert Newman 👈you are a lovely gentleman for answering.
I’ve been terrified to call “professionals” not having enough knowledge on said subject so if they lied because they saw someone they could take advantage of I’d be none the wiser...basement flooded only along one side of the house, side that has a concrete pad along about a third of the outside, truly horrified to think the concrete may have to be jackhammered up to fix the perimeter drain...house insurance only covers the inside harm not outside issues ...this is a nightmare, how I miss having a man around the house-I’m capable, just overwhelmed😞💔
Thank you for making me feel a bit better that it might just be blocked drains🙏 I think 1972 houses used clay drains so I’m hoping they haven’t collapsed or disintegrated🤞for crying out loud🥺

Also, did the company check the entire perimeter? I'd rather do this instead of a $5,000 sump pump install.

municipalities that require you to cut your weeping system off from the city sewer and into a sump pump will generally have a subsidy program that will pay up to 80% of the install of that and a backflow onto your main line.
