Thank you so much! i’ve been searching for a review like on the Jewel Box ever since it came out… i agree with most of your replacements. (although i think you cheated where you mentioned “Too Low For Zero” album, “Crystal” is on Disc 2, but you corrected yourself and said “One More Arrow”😆👍) hers my replacements, ones not anywhere on the Jewel Box or you have chosen even though i probably would’ve chosen the same ones but now i’ll choose others: from Leon Russell album: Hey Ahab! Tumbleweed Connection: Balled Of Well Known Gun Honky Chatue: Mona Lisas & Madhatters Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: I’ve Seen That Movie Too Blue Moves: Tonight Captian Fantastic…..: Better Off Dead Too Low For Zero: Religion (not too familiar with “Duets” i’ll have to skip…) Peachtree Road: Porch Swing In Tupelo Captian & The Kid: Just Like Noah’s Ark The Diving Board: Oceans Away Sleeping With The Past: Club At The End at of The Street The One: Runaway Train Leather Jackets: Go It Alone
Some great choices there, thanks. Religion is the only one I'm not sure about. Quite an unusual song for Elton. I'm not sure how to classify it. Not a ballad but not rock either.
Hi Jhon, another great rewiew about the thousends of great songs Elton gave us! More or less I agree with his choises....I 'd have included Paris, Ego ( which I like a lot) , Emily. Happy with Boogie pilgrim, Mellow and Danny Bailey! Waitin for the next, keep on standing!!!
These would be my deep cut selections. I will keep the cuts from the same albums even though in reality I wouldn't. The best part of the day. Where to now St Peter. Mona Lisas and Mad hatters. harmony. gone to Shiloh. Captain Fantastic and the brown dirt cowboy. One more Arrow. The Power, porch swing in Tupelo, tinderbox. voyeur. Emily. Paris and One horse Town. Thanks looking forward to the next video.
... another fantastic album cut from The Captain And The Kid is 'And The House Fell Down' ... Love the story it tells, even if it's a sad story; it's a Wise story ... and the piano solo on that song is deliciously jazzy!
@@eltonmusicfan I would have said The Last Song but that’s not as obscure because he’s performed that a few times live. I agree Sweat It Out is like Stones Throw From Hurtin’ in its uniqueness and like 16th Century Man from The Road to Eldorado Soundtrack.
to be fair though, “Too Low For Zero” title track was on the 1987 compilation “Greatest Hits Volume 3” (Catalog: Geffen GHS24153) so that too may have been a single….
Think Elton did a great job curating this first disc of deep cuts (second disc is very good too). The only song I really don't care for here is Hoop of Fire and agree that Go It Alone is far superior from that album (which I still don't like after repeated listenings). If you haven't done so already, do yourself a favor and listen to Come Down in Time (Jazz Version).
Hoop is an oddball choice but I like to get these, especially as they come from Elton himself. I have heard the jazz version of Come Down. I like it a lot, though the original is also perfect.
That's what makes the Rare Masters collection so great John, lots of wonderful deep cuts on that 2 CD collection , that would fit so well on the Jewel Box
I think there is some duplication and I will be comparing the two. Similarly with the new Sgt Zippo album - most of it appears to be on the Jewel Box, though some are demos.

Hundreds....😂...
Thanks for this. Surprised not to see anything from Thom Bell sessions yet.
@@eltonmusicfan I bought the TBS in 1978, but I dont cosider it an Elton John composition. He is only singing!! That' s why

Hi John, you’ll need to choose another track to replace Simple Life cos that was a single. I would go for Sweat It Out.
Thanks. I should have checked. Sweat it Out is another interesting one - a bit like Stone's Throw maybe - in that it grows on you steadily.

@@derekroberts6654 yes, it was the last single released off the album. Released in 1984.
The piano solo on Sweat It Out has always been, and will always be, Butter to me! (Do people still say 'Butter' or 'Butta'?)

Ok one question how old are you?
97. Though I have aged well.

i think the Bsides section (Discs 6 & 7) were meant to be thought of as a sequel to the “Rare Masters” from what i understood…
