Who else agrees with me that Daryl Hall is one of the most underrated soul singers ever?
Recall reading that Hall once remarked that he thought he would have been even more popular if he were black!?!?!?
He was never underated to me love al his tunes
Underrated?😂
They or he were never underrated, a massive duo, with plenty of awards 2 there name
You are so right.
In the black community hall and oates are legends and get just as many props as any black group that we consider the best

This was when the radio played good music. Not anymore
Daryl Hall & John Oates are often cited as one of the most underrated musical duos in pop music history. Despite their numerous chart-topping hits and enduring influence on the music industry, they don't always receive the same level of recognition as some of their contemporaries. Their seamless blend of rock, pop, and soul has left a lasting impact, and their catchy melodies and smooth harmonies have a dedicated fan base. Whether it's their classic songs like "Maneater," "Rich Girl," or "You Make My Dreams," Hall & Oates have carved out a unique place in the history of music. They may not always get the credit they deserve, but their music continues to be loved by fans all over the world
They don’t always get the credit that they deserve, but everyone knows the lyrics to all their songs.
No one who performs like them can ever be considered underrated..l still want to follow them home from school..🇨🇦
There was a quiz question a while ago asking what the best-selling duo was, and apparently it's H & O. They cranked out mega-hit album after album. So maybe people these days don't give them the credit they deserve, but they had and have a ton of fans.
I believe that they actually have a more African American and that throw the overseers! Yet n still they're loved by everyone race

1984. I was 10 years old, in Sacramento, and my parents got me a Walkman for a birthday gift (just a radio walkman, not even one with a cassette player). I was happy as clam. I remember the sun had just gone down and I was out on our front porch. I put on the headphones, tuned the Walkman to my favorite radio station, and this was the song that was playing. Still, to this day, 40 years later, whenever I hear this song, it brings me back to that moment. Thank you, Hall and Oates, for making such great music.
I was 8 when Roseanne came out I was living across the street where I live now its been an amazing journey and to this day hall and oats do take me back.
Beautiful story, thank you for sharing the memory.
@@thisisalisonlo you’re welcome. Happy to share and thanks for the reply. I’m sure I listened to tons of other music on that Walkman but, for some reason, this was the only song that stuck to my memory all these years. Maybe it was because I really liked this song hearing it on the radio a few times, but, since it was the very first song I heard with my new Walkman and listening to it on the earphones sounded really crisp and clear, it was almost like I was able to appreciate it much much more.
Love when music does that
Very cool story.you have great taste in music.i was 17 in 1984.if you thought it was great being 10 in 1984it was even better being 17.in 1984.miss those days.but its all about the music anyway.rock on kid.rock on.

YEZZZZZZZ!
Facts bro
September 2020. Still the best.
Daryl Hall's vocals are brilliant, along with the amazing harmonies. Hall & Oates has been one of my favorite bands going back to my childhood. Now, at 50, I'm appreciating even more subtleties in this music. I'm a drummer, but I can't say enough about Tom "T-Bone" Wolk's bass lines. They are so freakin' creative, tasteful, and musically perfect.
If you love this an T-bone search "live at Daryls house"..Smokey Robinson and Daryl do a cool rendition of. Sara smile / ooo baby baby.

I'm 70, earn my living as a keyboard artist, I still love all of Hall & Oates songs and know the words to most of them, lol. This one in particular, since after 30 years, I have a new love in my life. 😊♥️🎹

There are some white guys that can sing soul music. But very few did it as well as Hall and Oates. Love this track.
Ivor Curtis I remember my parents jamming to them back in the early 80s I love hall and oats
twaye30 I also love the way that John Oates plays just a little cameo role in this video - not many folk would have been content to let their equal partner take so much credit. Real classy. And funny too!
white girls too Teena Marie and Taylor Dane.

The 70's & 80's music ARE timeless!!❤
Daryl Hall’s vocals are so beautiful, it’s like a hummingbird singing in your ear. It’s such a beautiful song! Reaches deep into the soul. Daryl has a superb voice. Hall and Oates are the first album I bought in my whole life using my lunch money
In '70s and '80s good music was everywhere, so much so that we took it all for granted. Who would have thought that 40 years later we'd be cherishing those years and the music in awe and despair... sigh.
Someone asked what group do I think of when I think of the 80s. I said, Hall and Oates.
I have a sweet memory of this song. My boyfriend in college....we were sitting in the cafeteria finishing up our dinner. This song came on and he says to me, "I wanna play one-on one with you tonight." Me and all my innocence at the time! :)

There's a small Cafe named Hall & Oates in my small town in Korea. Their coffee tastes really good. I asked the owner why the name Hall & Oates? He said his father (now about my age in 50's) loved the Hall & Oates music and he grabbed the recordings of them and also became very fond of the songs hence the cafe name came. My wife bought me a coffee from there today and I'm listening to the songs played by the legend duo. :)
