Daryl Hall & John Oates are often cited as one of the most underrated musical duos in pop music history. Despite their numerous chart-topping hits and enduring influence on the music industry, they don't always receive the same level of recognition as some of their contemporaries. Their seamless blend of rock, pop, and soul has left a lasting impact, and their catchy melodies and smooth harmonies have a dedicated fan base. Whether it's their classic songs like "Maneater," "Rich Girl," or "You Make My Dreams," Hall & Oates have carved out a unique place in the history of music. They may not always get the credit they deserve, but their music continues to be loved by fans all over the world

1984. I was 10 years old, in Sacramento, and my parents got me a Walkman for a birthday gift (just a radio walkman, not even one with a cassette player). I was happy as clam. I remember the sun had just gone down and I was out on our front porch. I put on the headphones, tuned the Walkman to my favorite radio station, and this was the song that was playing. Still, to this day, 40 years later, whenever I hear this song, it brings me back to that moment. Thank you, Hall and Oates, for making such great music.

I’m sure I listened to tons of other music on that Walkman but, for some reason, this was the only song that stuck to my memory all these years. Maybe it was because I really liked this song hearing it on the radio a few times, but, since it was the very first song I heard with my new Walkman and listening to it on the earphones sounded really crisp and clear, it was almost like I was able to appreciate it much much more.

Now, at 50, I'm appreciating even more subtleties in this music. I'm a drummer, but I can't say enough about Tom "T-Bone" Wolk's bass lines. There's a small Cafe named Hall & Oates in my small town in Korea. Their coffee tastes really good. I asked the owner why the name Hall & Oates? He said his father (now about my age in 50's) loved the Hall & Oates music and he grabbed the recordings of them and also became very fond of the songs hence the cafe name came. My wife bought me a coffee from there today and I'm listening to the songs played by the legend duo. :)
