I am African American born in 1966 and grew up in the 70s and 80s color was blind in music lyrics and instruments were the only base we used..I love the Eagles .Chicago .. Fleetwood Mack...Barry White...Isley brothers....i could go on and on... the whole era... everything about those days were beautiful to me ..wish I had a time machine I go back forever

What a beautiful time to be alive when color didn't matter and great music was made and people danced with eachother! I'm so jealous of everyone that got to grow up in that time it was so much simpler. I was born in 1993 and my mom and dad said I'm an old soul and that as much as I love everything about the 60s 70s and 80s they said I would have fit in great back then

People have no idea how good the music of the 70s and 80's were ❤
Fine to elucidate, there are far too many ignorant people out there. Who can't or doesn't appreciate the fact music pre-2000 was frankly at a whole another level.
And I'm talking 1960-2000 Elvis, the Beetles, the BeeGees, the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, etc.

I really believe the "sweet spot" for American rock and roll was from 1973-1982. Early in that period you had Allman Bros Band, Doobie Bros Skynyrd,. Steely Dan Grand Funk Aerosmith. And in the latter part of that period you had the cars van halen Journey, REO, ZZ top. But in the sweet spot of the sweet spot there were EAGLES. An alpha male band, with great vocals, harmonies, lyrics, guitar wok etc. Their over sized egos actually were overshadowed by a huge amount of talent.
And at the end of the day, even 50 years later. there simply is no comparison.
    The soundtrack of GenX.

I was watching a pretty lame 60 minutes documentary about the 2019 tour and they were rehashing all the breakups and everyone kept mum during the interview section and Joe Walsh was typically very meek and self effacing while you could tell Frey, Felder and Henley still walk around with towering egos. I swear I can see why Walsh escaped into drugs and alcohol with all that competition between those three guys about who the real "stars" of the Eagles were.

Well said. I went to Wildwood New Jersey in 1972 with my best friend to (try to) see Yes. We had no tickets, lol. So there we are sitting on the boardwalk outside the theater as the warm-up band began to play. Just then we were able to score some tickets from a scalper. I had no idea who the band was, but I was absolutely blown away right from that moment and for the hour or so they played. We got to our seats halfway through the first song. The song was Witchy Woman and the band...well, that's obvious! They were every bit as good as Yes, which is really saying something. That began my love affair with the Eagles that has lasted to this day.

I was going through army basic training around 82 and I remember walking past a barracks room where this song was blasting out. As I passed the doorway I glanced inside and noticed 3 black dudes just harmonizing to the song with all their heart. They were killing it so I stopped for a moment and gave them a thumbs up. It's must be really hard to put a different spin on this one as everything I've heard doesn't stray far at all from the original. If Isaac Hayes was still around he'd probably turn this upside down, dissect it and spin it 360 like you couldn't imagine and come out with a soul classic.

Even though the Eagles had some turmoil you can't tell during this song . Timothy B Schmidt is on another level of spiritual . He sings so sweetly and the rest of the band does their part flawlessly . Awesome guitar work.

The fact that they let Don Felder go is the most unforgivable thing Glenn and Don Henley ever did. He is literally one of the best guitarist of all time who could play on anything. When it came to strings he played so much for them and contributed SOOOO much when it came to their guitar. It’s unbelievable still

My husband was killed back in 1979 by a drunk driver. Only 29. The Eagles were one of our favourite groups in the lead up to his death. Hearing any Eagles song makes me feel both joyous and sad at the same time. We were so lucky to be with the Eagles right from the beginning. Those harmonies are amazing.
