  • Singer-songwriter-keyboardist Christine McVie, who contributed some of the most-loved songs of Fleetwood Mac, died on November 30, 2022 at age 79. In this unaired interview with "Sunday Morning" correspondent John Blackstone recorded in 2014, McVie talked about her semi-retirement (fueled in part by her fear of flying), and about rejoining bandmates Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and ex-husband John McVie on stage for the first time in 18 years.

I love her humility. She didn't assume she was getting back in. So many would arrogantly assume so. This woman wrote half of the songs on their greatest hits album and did lead vocals on a bunch of them. You can count on one hand the amount of female artists who can write, sing, and play any instrument in her league. One of a kind talent you won't see again for a long long time.

I agree with you, but there was no way she wasn’t going to be allowed to come back. They all loved her. Stevie talked about wanting her back regularly in interviews and on stage. Lindsey and Chris had become close. Mick always adored her. Even her ex loved her. Ok obviously I don’t know any of them personally but I think every single one of them had genuine strong affection for her, no matter what kinds of rough and complicated times were behind them.

Christine McVie is a very much overlooked singer and songwriter and everything in between.
Christine McVie is a very humble person, when she passed, on the radio, a man phoned in saying that he did the painting and decorating at a house he later found out was Christine McVie's, when she opened the door, and let them in!!!
The painter and decorator then went on to say, that on later occasions, when he was called out to do more decorating, she introduced him to Mick Fleetwood!!!
The decorator said that she was very down to earth, made them tea/coffee and sandwiches, chatted with them, and made them right at home!
Ms. Christine McVie, You are very, very, much missed. 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️💐💐💐

Christine McVie was a virtuoso musical genius in a band of musical geniuses. They delivered live performances like Olympic endurance athletes traveling the world decade after decade. I'm talking about prolific hit song writing heard by most of the known world at some point. My first Fleetwood Mac concert was in '86 as a kid in college and I was blown away by the sheer number of hit songs the band serenaded the arena with for 2 hours straight. For $50. I feel like I owe her money lol. Godspeed Christine.

And what I find to be the ironic thing about that, is that while the hit songs are really good, some great, it’s actually the songs that weren’t radio hits, the lesser known songs from the albums that I find some of their best music. Some really great songs.

None of them seemed to have even a thimble full of Christine Mcvie's talents.compose, sing and play keyboards. Who will remember any of today's female artists, not after 45+ years like Fleetwood Mac's music.( No offense to people who find something in the earlier mentioned artists) it's all about what a generation wants as expression in music as well as other art, I suppose.

Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" LP was the Best-selling album OF ALL TIME - when it came out. A few years later, The Boss(Bruce Springsteen) took away the top spot, and then, a few years after THAT, came Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Thriller's musicians were basically Toto(a collection of the best young session musicians in LA), and a few of the songs were originally Toto songs. "Beat it" was originally a killer riff that was entirely Steve Lukather; Eddie Van Halen's solo - which he wouldn't take any money for - came later. But Fleetwood Mac was STILL one of the GREATEST Musical groups in the world.
Except that by that time, the friction within the band got to be pretty bad, and eventually coping with the traveling and the Celebrity Industry - the stresses of the music industry "Money-Go-round" - Christine said "This is BS, I've had enough," and called it a day. But, as she says in the interview, she NEVER stopped liking making music.
All her life, she was involved in making music, all the way back to when she was just a girl taking piano lessons and singing in church and school(and everywhere else). And she grew up in an exciting time for music. By the time she passed, I bet she had Music flowing in her veins. She's been an important part of music history for 60 years, and we ALL will miss her terribly. I wish her well in Heaven, singing and rocking with them angels.

Amazing interview with a rock and roll icon. She really did miss the band, the music and the camaraderie. It was the wear and tear of the road, the relentless friction among the band members and the lifestyle that caught up with her. But she recharged the batteries, took care of family issues and returned to do what she was meant for, music and performing. Christine was always my favorite Mac player & singer. She was the glue that held it together during the tumultuous years of fame and good fortune. I know that they missed her terribly, but Mick & John kept the flame burning. They reformed and their tours with Lindsay & then Neil and Mike were some of their best. What a lady she was. Christine is humble enough to discuss her problems and admit her needs and issues. But she didn't criticize her mates in this interview. She is truly one of a kind and will be missed by so many of her fans and the fellowship of musicians & artists in her life. May she rest in peace. Christine Perfect McVie.

Christine McVie truly was the spine of Fleetwood Mac. Her exquisite voice , her ability to pen a classic song that WE ALL KNOW and her undeniable musicianship made the Mac one of the biggest bands on the planet. Her passing at 79 came as a shock to me. I guess the bands you grow up listening to you think wil always be around but as each day turns we all grow a little older. If you’ve got a spare 15mins go search ..
    The Chain
    As Long As You Follow
    Don’t Stop
    Everywhere
    Little Lies
    Isn’t It Midnight
    Oh Daddy
    Songbird
    You Make Loving Fun…
These are just a few of the classics she wrote and sung. We’ve lost a true British talent that won’t be forgotten or replaced.
P.s how gorgeous was she 😍
    RIP Christine 😢

As Americans we forget how the Native Americans move forward missing loved ones. Their belief is that the deceased person's life goes on and on inside the ones that are close to them. I believe that no one's soul really dies their lives are cherished through remembering and as hard as it is to remember it's our responsibility to keep hopes and dreams alive in our hearts and in our minds.

It was strange, I noticed GM is using the song "everyday" for a commercial that played two or three weeks ago during the word series. I had added the song to my playlist and have always thought this lady had the most angelic voice of all time. I had wondered how she was and if sje was still touring, singing. When I read she had died it kinda had one of those psychic energy type emotions to me. A very very talented lady. I will miss her.
