- Singer-songwriter-keyboardist Christine McVie, who contributed some of the most-loved songs of Fleetwood Mac, died on November 30, 2022 at age 79. In this unaired interview with "Sunday Morning" correspondent John Blackstone recorded in 2014, McVie talked about her semi-retirement (fueled in part by her fear of flying), and about rejoining bandmates Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and ex-husband John McVie on stage for the first time in 18 years.

She aged beautifully! It's hard to believe she was 71 here. Gorgeous lady, gorgeous voice. She won't ever be forgotten! ❤
You're right so good
I'm so glad that she was able to go out on top of her game with no regrets. Still relevant and producing quality material. Her voice and keyboards were spot on. We should all be so lucky.
I know!
It never occurred to me ever since I heard her singing on Bare Trees that she was old enough to be my mom😋
Her voice affects me like that of a mother’s lullaby 😌
@@jimflieder3901 I like that. What a great way to remember her! She's just a little older than my mum.
She has one of the most beautiful singing voices ever.she has a beautiful voice talking
I love her humility. She didn't assume she was getting back in. So many would arrogantly assume so. This woman wrote half of the songs on their greatest hits album and did lead vocals on a bunch of them. You can count on one hand the amount of female artists who can write, sing, and play any instrument in her league. One of a kind talent you won't see again for a long long time.
I agree with you, but there was no way she wasn’t going to be allowed to come back. They all loved her. Stevie talked about wanting her back regularly in interviews and on stage. Lindsey and Chris had become close. Mick always adored her. Even her ex loved her. Ok obviously I don’t know any of them personally but I think every single one of them had genuine strong affection for her, no matter what kinds of rough and complicated times were behind them.
@@EastSide-qc5oy That sounds accurate, to me. Christine was such a super talent, and seemed like a real sweet lady. Of course, she was wanted back in the band.
She was my favorite. 💙
I made a Tribute video which is on my channel now with a slideshow of photos and music
Well said
Underrated
Honestly i wasn't aware of how talented & how important she was to Fleetwood Mac . Stevie Nicks kinda took center stage.
The Mac will never be the same, but we have dozens of Christine's songs to help us remember her amazing gifts. Thank you, Christine!
beautifully said xx
Wasn't the same when Lindsey Buckingham got the boot
You're right
@@tbc1809 no not even close! I understand why Mike Campbell got brought in but when Lindsay quit and they replaced him with Billy Burnett and Rick Vito they sounded pretty good but this version is terrible. Now that Christine is gone, they need to break up
The chain has been permanently broken. It's one thing when someone quits for 16 years, or someone else is (temporarily) fired. But when one passes, it's obvious things will never be the same.
Christine McVie is a very much overlooked singer and songwriter and everything in between.
Christine McVie is a very humble person, when she passed, on the radio, a man phoned in saying that he did the painting and decorating at a house he later found out was Christine McVie's, when she opened the door, and let them in!!!
The painter and decorator then went on to say, that on later occasions, when he was called out to do more decorating, she introduced him to Mick Fleetwood!!!
The decorator said that she was very down to earth, made them tea/coffee and sandwiches, chatted with them, and made them right at home!
Ms. Christine McVie, You are very, very, much missed. 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️💐💐💐
My heart hurts. She was one in a million and held her own with “the boys”…. Fly free songbird, fly free. 🕊️
Mine, too. I have been weepy since I heard the horrible news. The tributes and wonderful comments are overwhelming. She made a tremendous impact on the world. RIP, dear Christine.
I am heartbroken. She was the one who could make me cry. Beautiful. We will miss you so.
I usually don't get very emotional when a celebrity passes, but THIS ONE HURT! I loved her voice, I loved her music! Such a classy lady. 😢
Yes, this ONE hurt very deeply and still does.😢💔
One of the classiest ladies of rock. She will never be forgotten ♥️. RIP Ms. McVie. 🙏
Mrs.
Christine was the backdone of Fleetwood Mac, Gonna miss seeing her perform
I’m so sad that we lost Christine McVie. I grew up in the 70s and I still love to listen to their music!! May she RIP ❤️
You and me both Deborah she was one of a kind extremely talented
I love her. she only lived a few miles frm me in Kent My wife met her many times. Very sad now she has gone.
Such a humble, beautiful, intelligent, talented lady! The world has lost a ‘songbird’
My sister Laurie also passed loved her and Fleetwood Mac both missed
I'm just crushed. 💔 I still listen to Fleetwood Mac regularly. May she rest in peace. 🙏🏻❤️
I'm the same, my favourite band of all time
My heart dropped with the news, because I’ve been a Christine lover since Future Games, and Bare Trees. So many great songs. Another day that the music died.
I still can't wrap my brain around this one 😥 She was so elegant & graceful. A timeless, seemingly ageless beauty. This one really hurts 💔
Very sad. But people die at 79. It happens.
@@BeatlesCentricUniverse Amazing that the history with drugs did not make it happen earlier. Whats that, Strong DNA, having a lot of money to get into the best medical places?

Absolutely lovely, Christine was always so mellow and very grounded.
She likes to just be brief with conversation but she didn't really know that we just cant get enough of her in interviews. Ive always just adored this women so much. Such a well spoken gal.
In a boys dream.she will always be. Such a beautiful woman. R.i p
Won't be the same without Christina 💔. RIP sweet lady with the great voice. 💙
Rip I grew up listening to her she was part of my childhood she will be missed
I think she was the glue that kept Fleetwood Mac together. Multi-talented-singer/songwriter, musician, voice like an Angel, she was a special lady. May God bless her and keep her. RIP m'am.
two women with all those alpha males
So thoughtful and intelligent. What a gorgeous lady. A musical talent that comes along once in a 1000 lifetimes. God speed you well, Christine. R x

@@karinpowers1018 Even better!
A criminally underrated artist in rock music. Rest well, Christine, Rest well. #RIP
i could listen to her talk forever. always, for me, the most realistic and honest perspective out of any of the band members. her modesty, down to earth, no nonsense, no drama, no head in the clouds, slightly self-deprecating, her wit etc. ❤
I was about to post the same thing about her! Glad I read through the comments first.
I feel the same about her..She's so damn down to earth & straight forward..Many of us can most definitely appreciate that.. She's very pretty as well, love her eye's 💓💓
@@jcbulldog533 i know. i can’t believe she’s gone. hard to accept that. am kicking myself for not going to that buckingham mcvie concert back in 2017?
@@joeburton7784 Last time I seen them all together in concert was awhile back I believe Fall of 1997 it was amazing because we had seats on Christy's side & was able to actually see how beautiful she was & again those amazing Blue eye's It was a fantastic Concert for sure
Her and Stevie together made the most haunting harmony's of all time!! She's singing with the angels now!! RIP beautiful soul 🙏
What a beautiful, wonderful soul she was…..her death just breaks my heart….
Mine Too. I'm Truly Heartbroken 😢💔
Loved her voice, loved her songs, she may be gone but not forgotten ❤. May she rest in peace.
of any Mac song, I'd perk up the most when she was the lead
Rest in peace, lovely, talented Christine McVie.💔😞 Thank you for your work that created our soundtrack to life.💫🕊️🌹 “Well, isn't it midnight, on the other side of the world?
Do you remember, the face of a pretty girl?
The face of a pretty girl.
The face of a pretty girl?
The face of a pretty girl.”🕯️🌹
What a wonderful, unique voice. When Christine talks. When Christine sings. Beautiful through and through. May her soul rest in peace.
So beautiful, so talented.
Fleetwood Mac would not been as great as they were without Christine. You can't be Fleetwood Mac without her. It is incredible that she is not here now.
Rest in musical peace Christine perfect.
There’s something wonderful about how totally unaffected she was. “A few blues songs I wrote” (that sold millions). She was an absolute superstar. I wish she was still here but the passage of time is one of the most depressing things about life.
Christine McVie was a virtuoso musical genius in a band of musical geniuses. They delivered live performances like Olympic endurance athletes traveling the world decade after decade. I'm talking about prolific hit song writing heard by most of the known world at some point. My first Fleetwood Mac concert was in '86 as a kid in college and I was blown away by the sheer number of hit songs the band serenaded the arena with for 2 hours straight. For $50. I feel like I owe her money lol. Godspeed Christine.
And what I find to be the ironic thing about that, is that while the hit songs are really good, some great, it’s actually the songs that weren’t radio hits, the lesser known songs from the albums that I find some of their best music. Some really great songs.
voice of an angel, top tier songwriter, stunning eyes and as cool and classy as they come. she will always have a place in my heart.
Such a class act. Jeez, look at some of the female artists we have today Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus. None of them seemed to have even a thimble full of Christine Mcvie's talents.compose, sing and play keyboards. Who will remember any of today's female artists, not after 45+ years like Fleetwood Mac's music.( No offense to people who find something in the earlier mentioned artists) it's all about what a generation wants as expression in music as well as other art, I suppose.
One of the nicest voices ever in the history of Rock. Sometimes, preferred her over Stevie Nicks.
Seeing them finally perform in 2015 was incredible. RIP CM.
Absolutely, Fleetwood Mac will never be the same…today we had a tribute to her in class for an hour and half and we did not get through all of them her ability to write and gift to sing a beautiful blessing to so many for decades, and Song bird will always be right at the top of my favorites deeply felt and just as Beautiful As she was , very sad loss …may her family be filled with God’s love and peace through their loss that no one can fill…
Ty Tribute
Great interview. Having followed Fleetwood Mac's music for 50 years, I recommend that people listen as well to McVie's songs on the early Fleetwood Mac albums. For example "Why" on "Mystery To Me" and particularly the live version on "FM Live From the Record Plant 1974", which also has "Spare Me A Little...", and "Believe Me". She was a great singer and musician, whose contributions will be heard as a blessing to many in the years ahead.
Sometimes when you get to experience someone, whether personally or from a distance, you just feel wonderfully connected to that persons magic. Christine McVie is and was one of those people. I am nourished from her unique and lovely spirit and so grateful to her.
She was a gem. I just love listening to her talk.
She was such an icon in rock & roll. I hope she's at peace. What a lovely lady
She is a legend and most certainly an Angel.
Gone… but never forgotten
“She belongs to ages now”
We Love You Christine💕
RIP 🕊️
Lovely interview. Christine will be sorely missed. I absolutely love her music and voice. Mac was not and never will be the same without her. I listen to their music all the time. RIP dear Christine....
She had such wisdom vibes, such a great lady with a great voice. She seemed to be the brain of the group as well as the grounding/centering force. She had that British chill out personality.
I am thrilled that I got to see Christine McVie perform with Fleetwood Mac during the 2015 On with the Show tour. It was an amazing concert!! Of all the bands that my parents introduced me to...it was Fleetwood Mac that completely won me over!!!
What a wonderful interview with this beautiful woman who will be sadly missed ~ RIP Chrstine McVie
For all that the band dealt with, personally and professionally, they outlasted alot of bands.. they will always hold a special place in my heart..
Great interview, thanks for the upload. Still hard to process that this beautiful lady has moved on from this earthly plane, but we are all the better for the presence that she left. 🙏🌄💓💐🕊️🌈
Some people never get a retirement. She had 16 years and then came out of retirement. Watching this interview brings a tear to my eye. She was the rock of the band. The adult. The true talent. Thank you Christine and God bless you!!
She was the glue that held the band together
Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" LP was the Best-selling album OF ALL TIME - when it came out. A few years later, The Boss(Bruce Springsteen) took away the top spot, and then, a few years after THAT, came Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Thriller's musicians were basically Toto(a collection of the best young session musicians in LA), and a few of the songs were originally Toto songs. "Beat it" was originally a killer riff that was entirely Steve Lukather; Eddie Van Halen's solo - which he wouldn't take any money for - came later. But Fleetwood Mac was STILL one of the GREATEST Musical groups in the world.
Except that by that time, the friction within the band got to be pretty bad, and eventually coping with the traveling and the Celebrity Industry - the stresses of the music industry "Money-Go-round" - Christine said "This is BS, I've had enough," and called it a day. But, as she says in the interview, she NEVER stopped liking making music.
All her life, she was involved in making music, all the way back to when she was just a girl taking piano lessons and singing in church and school(and everywhere else). And she grew up in an exciting time for music. By the time she passed, I bet she had Music flowing in her veins. She's been an important part of music history for 60 years, and we ALL will miss her terribly. I wish her well in Heaven, singing and rocking with them angels.
Christine, I Know that your bandmates are hurting and missing you terribly and even though us fans don’t know you on a personal level like the band us. We will miss you just as much. I wish you a peaceful passage to the light. My heart is broken because you and the band are such a huge part of my youth. 💔☹️🙏🏼✌🏻
I miss you Christine. Thank you for leaving us such beautiful music.
She’s my favorite member of Fleetwood Mac… her voice is incredible!
She was my favorite, too!
I think that her songs that were not hits were some of her best songs. What a talent she was. Thanks for the great memories of listening to your songs over several decades. RIP Christine.
Yes! There are no deep tracks for me. Every single song of hers is a star and my favorite. ❤️
What a gentle, contemplative, beautiful person. I’ve had a crush on her since I was a kid. Sure miss her.
She will always be in her 30’s to me. Thank you, beautiful and talented artist! 😌
The highly gifted Christine Mvie, a woman full of pure grace and straightforwardness. She kept the interviewer on course with humble truth. ❤ RIP gifted and kind person. Fly Songbird. God Bess You.

What a voice what a soul. I saw her performing in Newark. Such talent love her and the group have been a major Fleetwood Mac fan forever. I know you are rocking in heaven...Peace out. Love & Peace always...
RIP to the wonderfully talented Christine McVie. I was lucky enough to see her and Fleetwood Mac when they were at the top of their game many years ago. I have Penguin, Mystery to Me, Rumours, and more....such a joy. Thank you for the wonderful musical memories. 🌈🔥🌟💔❣💖💝
My prayers go out to her family and I’m a very big fan of the band and what the music means to me. No one knows what great music is. Thank you so much for your sweet voice.❤
Amazing interview with a rock and roll icon. She really did miss the band, the music and the camaraderie. It was the wear and tear of the road, the relentless friction among the band members and the lifestyle that caught up with her. But she recharged the batteries, took care of family issues and returned to do what she was meant for, music and performing. Christine was always my favorite Mac player & singer. She was the glue that held it together during the tumultuous years of fame and good fortune. I know that they missed her terribly, but Mick & John kept the flame burning. They reformed and their tours with Lindsay & then Neil and Mike were some of their best. What a lady she was. Christine is humble enough to discuss her problems and admit her needs and issues. But she didn't criticize her mates in this interview. She is truly one of a kind and will be missed by so many of her fans and the fellowship of musicians & artists in her life. May she rest in peace. Christine Perfect McVie.
I was so grateful this year for the Chevy TV ad that celebrated Christine's 1987 Fleetwood Mac song "Everywhere." I loved how the ad seemed to showcase the song even more than the Chevy brand.
I know. I was so glad to hear her actual vocals on those commercials. And am also happy to see Christine's song and vocals getting some recognition. And... I am ELATED to know Christine was nominated for a 2023 Grammy !!
It actually charted again! Weeks prior to her death
I absolutely love Christine Macvie. She's been such a powerful writer from the early days. She is professional, humble, extremely intelligent and still beautiful. She is one of kind.🙏❤️🕊️🌷🌷🌷
Thank you for the Buckingham McVie album. It let us hear one last time what another Fleetwood Mac album would have sounded like. If you haven't heard it, it is a must listen.

Christine McVie truly was the spine of Fleetwood Mac. Her exquisite voice , her ability to pen a classic song that WE ALL KNOW and her undeniable musicianship made the Mac one of the biggest bands on the planet. Her passing at 79 came as a shock to me. It breaks my heart that Christine McVie has died. She had such a great voice and was an incredible pianist. She's alive forever in her music. R.I.P. Christine.
Christine McVie was the backbone of Fleetwood Mac. She was a phenomenon for many different reasons. Her life was beautiful and she will be sorely missed. God bless, rip and thank you!!!!!
As Americans we forget how the Native Americans move forward missing loved ones. Their belief is that the deceased person's life goes on and on inside the ones that are close to them. I believe that no one's soul really dies their lives are cherished through remembering and as hard as it is to remember it's our responsibility to keep hopes and dreams alive in our hearts and in our minds.
Such a humble, quiet force of an artist. Christine was the heart and soul of Fleetwood Mac. She will be greatly missed but fortunately she has left us music for a lifetime. Rest in Paradise.
One of the best bands ever. It never ceases to amaze me, how a few people can get together and it just "Works".

The lovely and most exceedingly talented Christine McVie Is and will be sorely missed
Every great band has a secret weapon that makes the whole unit better. Each member of this band is integral to their success but Christine was really the glue that held it together…..she could write and sing as well as anyone.
Christine McVie was always an integral part of Fleetwood Mac. It was not the same without her and now can never be the same again. So sorry at her passing but she will live forever in the music. RIP .
It was strange, I noticed GM is using the song "everyday" for a commercial that played two or three weeks ago during the word series. I had added the song to my playlist and have always thought this lady had the most angelic voice of all time. I had wondered how she was and if sje was still touring, singing. When I read she had died it kinda had one of those psychic energy type emotions to me. A very very talented lady. I will miss her.
