      I tore my left pectoral muscle (pectoralis major, I think it's called? it's been a couple of years now) while lifting a box of compacted sofa components, no air in that box, it was a 'dead' weight for sure. I never heard anything but I certainly freakin' felt the crap out of it. It took about 2 years to heal, and the first year felt like the pain and the feeling of constant tearing would never leave me for the rest of my life. Weird sensation, but you'd know if it happened even if you didn't hear it.

    Around the 4:05 mark, about Hafthor Bjornsson holding the World Record despite his unfavorable leverages: He had an extra ingredient fueling his training: hatred. It seems he aimed specifically for 501kg just to spite Eddie Hall. Watching the effort he put into lifting 501kg, it’s clear he likely had the strength to go for 505kg. But no-501kg was exactly what he needed to take the record from Hall.

    One thing people neglect with deadlifts is the neurological connections to really increase strength.
    I truly believe that if you practice your deadlifting technique, in the mirror once a day for 5 minutes, you will be able to recruit more motor neurons, which will help you move more weight. Especially if you have a good base.
    I wasn't allowed to lift heavy, until my coach approved of my technique. I practiced every day, until I was picture perfect, and when I was cleared to go heavy, I kept practicing every day. I did deadlifts once every 2 weeks.
    The results and benefits, were the best I had in any lift, and I incorporated daily practice of other lifts and all my numbers increased, so... If you're still give it a try.

    The most impressive thing about Thor’s 501 was the relative ease - Eddie almost died from his 500, Thor looked like he could have gotten a second rep. (Yes, Eddie did it first and that’s a huge deal - not knocking Eddie here. And I doubt that Thor could actually have gotten a second rep - but it was so clean that it looked like a 2-3RM.)
    Also, perfect editing:

    • @hylianchriss
      @hylianchriss 2 месяца назад +1

      Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and even Icelandic are all similar enough for us to understand each other, verbally and definitely in written text. Finnish is a completely separate language family. However, ironically enough, when speaking English even the Finns has a similar accent to the Scandinavian countries. Mike's generic Nordic accent sounded mostly Finnish, but I could give it a pass for a Swede, a Norwegian or an Icelander too. For some reason all we Nordic siblings sound similar speaking English =)
      But the Finnish accent is a bit harsher (like the way Mike was so rough on those consonants), Swedish and Norwegian accents are softer, longer vowels, more sing-songy cadence.

He went at it fast, rep after rep, no bracing, arching his back, no control over the eccentric just letting it fall and craziest of all he didnt seem to have any real muscle on his body. I thought to myself that if i did what he was doing my back would be toast for at least a few months and maybe forever! Crazy how being young kinda makes you immortal in some sense. I hope he learns before he hurts himself.
