@Boston 508617 i get your point about his physique but he's lighter than the others like a Del Potro or Berettini or Zverev. More lanky but more agile and he can get to those low balls consistently. Let's see.
The greatest match I have watched ever, the AO 2022 Finals where Nadal won over Medvedev in a thrilling come-from-behind victory. Gut-wrenching, brutal, empowering, inspiring, and most of all, legendary. GS#21 for the GOAT and Champion ON and OFF the COURT!
I have watched the whole game again, because I suffered three heart attacks live, I needed oxygen, and I could not enjoy it. I have to say wow! What a match! The best I've ever seen!
The sheer beauty of it is that it's mostly self taught, his uncle was his trainer. Rafa's a natural righty. However, since he has a huge advantage being left handed playing, he taught himself to play left at his uncle's encouragement. That's why you see him with occasional one handed back hands. His forehand goes to the weaker back hand the vast majority of time on most other opponents. Give him a huge advantage in numerous ways. Less running around, a nearly equal backhand, and more. He's probably my favorite all time player, mostly, I admit for the fact that he's won the French 12 freaking times which is an unbelievable feat. Djoker has 7 Australians, Federer 8 Wimbledons, and Federer has 5 US opens. Borg is second at the French, which is often regarded as the toughest. For one person to win 12 in nothing short of phenomenal.
John Randall Banks Uncle Toni has debunked this myth - he’s stated that he never forced/encouraged Rafa to play left handed as an advantage. Rather, Rafa initially played with both hands on the racket and evinced a certain ambidexterity in tennis, so he told his nephew that no real tennis player played with both hands and he encouraged him to play whatever way came more naturally (one handed). In the end Rafa wound up keeping his left hand on the racket for forehands. The “lefty forehand to righty backhand” advantage is also a myth, because consider the inverse: most tennis players are right-handed, so their forehands go to the lefty’s backhand. I.e. there’s no relative advantage. The only possible advantage I can think of is that lefties have against righties is that most break points are played from the ad court, from which side a lefty server has an easier time of striking a serve out wide, pulling the returner off the court, while the righty would mostly be hitting serves up the T from the ad court (and this “advantage” presupposes that wide serves are more effective than T serves).
This was one of the most enjoyable matches to watch - almost a definition of a great competition, where each player does everything in their arsenal to win a point. You see virtually all types of shots here, and shows how many different ways you can win a point in tennis, and it's not just about repeating the same thing over and hoping for the best. Incredible.
Medvedev is the best player of the young generation. Why? He's the mentally toughest. He's the only young gun who could go down two sets to nothing and still believe that he had a shot to win the match.
Yes, Medvedev is my pick to dominate the next 10+ yrs... he could had won it this yr USO if not because he'd shoe's trouble when he's up 40/0 at 5th set 2-2, and it stop his momentum completely
Nadal simply let up at critical points in the third, fourth and fifth sets. This championship should have been over in 3 sets. Nerves got the better of Rafa until fatigue took over in that 5th set with Nadal serving at 5-4. When you are tired you don’t have time to be nervous.
Yeah I agree. Nadal was in total control in the 3rd set and the nerves got to him and let Medvedev back in. Medvedev didn’t start playing any better, Nadal’s serve and shot consistency just went away. But he’s a true champion and found a way to regroup and win when it came down to it.
What a match! What a fight! This is how you make a highlight! Couldn't ask for a more grandiose ending of the US Open. Just some incredible tennis, no words left! Thank you!
Lmao what about the other times he gave up in a final? wasnt physically fit? My ass. He got lucky coz he hasnt played medvedev that many times. Easy enough to get a mental advantage because rafa is a big name.
Rafael Nadal have rivals like 1. Roger Federer 2. Novak Djokovic 3. Andy Murray 4. Stan Wawarinka It is not easy to win major titles like that at all. Rafael Nadal have 22 major titles which is huge achievement only. Rafael Nadal leads 7-2 in majors against Andy Murray also which is big thing
How medvedev managed to win two back to back sets after losing first 2 sets in finals..Incredible And How Nadal managed to win the 5th set after losing 3rd and 4th set.. Incredible match. Nadal doesn't win matches he wins wars
Nadal had the same problem in the Wimbledon F in 2008 vs Federer. 2-0 sets ahead and at 3-3 in the third set it was 0-40 on Federer's serve. Nadal just had to win one of those break points and he would have likely won the match in straight sets. The rest is history what happened when that Wimbledon final turned into an epic like the 2019 USO F.

Nadal is the kind of student that every teacher wants. He may not have started with the biggest weapons but learned as he went along and surprised alot of people.
Still re-watching the match again and it gives me chills. Nadal really had to battle to the death for this. Medvedev had so many chances to really run away with the match but Nadal kept reeling him back in and grinding out the points. This kid Medvedev is only 23 and he's definitely the next gen all by himself.

So glad I was there that weekend and bought a ticket. Best match I ever seen. Next level tennis of both players and what a vibe in the crowd. Still buzzing of this amazing experience.
Back here after watching Daniil US Open final against Novak... what a different match. Nadal was really on top of his game, very aggresive, and Medvedev looks so overplayed and lost in his jungle. Missing that Nadal, hopefully we will see some more flashes of his talent next year. No one is forever.
That was pre-pandemic Nadal when he had a completely different mindset than now... 😒 He was on fire in 2019 and we saw a glimpse of then only last year in RG 😔
You know. I have a feeling Nadal and Federer are going to play extra hard against Medvedev now that he said Djokovic is the goat. I’m excited to see their future matchups.
@@0vershadow Nadal... I'm sure Rafa can come back, depends on how much he's willing to play... If he repeats the 2021 season, it will be very tough. Federer doesn't have any chance anymore, we have seen this year he can no longer win even against top 20 players. 😅
nadals face when he looks into medweds eyes after winning the final point... you can see that he knows exactly how danil feels. and appreciates his match
When people say Nadal is just brute force and no technique, or that he doesn't volley well, they should look at this moment: 35:24 Nadal won the first two sets, but then Medvedev somehow recovered with very agressive and inspired play. He took the next two sets, and everything was going to be decided in the fifth. But it was Medvedev who had the momentum in his favour, so at the beginning of the last set Nadal had to face a very difficult moment: first serving with 0-30, then with 15-40 and two break points to save. In both of those crucial points, he went to the net and finished the point with a touch volley. You have to be very confident in your volley skills to do that.
@Revanth His slice is also fantastic now. He completely ran out of power in his right hand in the fifth set (later during the Laver Cup Nadal said he had a hand injury on his right hand during the USO final), as John McEnroe said during the broadcast. That was why Nadal kept slicing the backhand in the fifth set and luckily for him Medvedev had no idea how to counter an effective backhand slice.
Also Medvedev was serving phenomenally to lead 2-2, 40-0 in the fifth set. It looked like Nadal was not going to win that Medevedev service game at all. Nadal ended up BREAKING Medvedev in that game!!!!
now this is what i call HIGHLIGHTS...thank you soo much, these allow me to whiteness how epic and memorable this battle was, what talent both players showed and how close this match was, literally a matter of a few important points. Vamos Rafa...
That’s 7 major wins outside of clay. John McEnroe won 7 majors and he’s considered one of the greatest players ever. Nadal has now reached 15 major finals outside of clay, 10 masters 1000 titles on hard courts, Olympic Gold on a hard court and is now a 4 Time US Open champion with the career grand slam. But he’s still just a “claycourter” ???😂😂😂
They can call him whatevet they want but just imagine with all the injury rafa os number 2 in rhe world.its only because of the media but rafa is better than roger by miles.infact novak is better than roger...rafa the king of clay yes and a good tennis player
Nadal is the most complete player ever. In addition, playing on clay is much more difficult than on another surface, since it requires greater technical and tactical resources, as it is not limited to serve and volley. Nothing is, beyond partisan opinions, the best player. Greetings.
From past 2 years everyone was talking about Zverev only In the meantime Medvedev must have worked really hard to achieve the success he is achieving today.. Future World No. 1
I don't think so, Daniil is a warrior. Rafa made a break at the beginning of the 3rd set and Daniil immediately returned it. In the 5th set Rafa led 5:2, but then missed 2 games.
A very great joy to see two baseliners serving and volleying dozens of times, with success rates for each player well over 70%, an absolute delight to see!
44:11 A creative & gutsy drop shot by Rafa at this point is brilliant. Watching this battle live is nerve wrecking than this highlight. Phew! Rafa won. This is the turning point for Daniil. He has gone on so strong and won the Shanghai Masters convincingly.
Medvedev's backhand is a serious weapon. He hammered it at Nadal's forehand with surprising success. The scary thing is that Medvedev is likely to get better.
@@zubin081 That's a good point. Some guys reach their peak in their early 20s, such as Marat Safin. Other guys take longer, like Andy Murray. It's uncertain which is the case for Medvedev. It will be interesting to see how he looks over the next couple of years. 6'6" guys don't usually do as much running as Medvedev does, and he could injure himself playing that way. I don't think there is 1 GOAT. I think Djokovic, Federer and Nadal are pretty much equals. They've had so many epic close battles(that could've gone either way), they've each won an insane amount of titles, all 3 are insanely good and they force each other to become even better. If each of them was in an era of his own, they wouldn't be as good as they are now, they really pushed each other to insane heights. So imo all 3 are the best of all time.

Nadal is the goat on clay for sure
I have watched the whole game again, because I suffered three heart attacks live, I needed oxygen, and I could not enjoy it. I have to say wow! What a match! The best I've ever seen!
Me too. These type of matches I never really enjoyed them live - too much stress - I usually watch a little and turn it off.
nadal's forehand is something god created himself
John Randall Banks 👏🏽
The almighty made it and broke the mould
The greatest tennis shot of all time is definitely Nadal's forehand.
Finally, the highlights of this phenomenal match we’ve all been waiting for!
correction: Fenomenadal match.
Congrats Nadal.....Proud of you. Huge respect to Danill..its Amazing..
I don't know if he believed tbh. He said he thought he was gonna lose. It's his sheer consistency and grit that puts him ahead.
This comment aged well 😂
Nadal simply let up at critical points in the third, fourth and fifth sets.
THIS is the best GS final so far! Incredible!!
You mean this year?
What a match! What a fight! This is how you make a highlight! Couldn't ask for a more grandiose ending of the US Open. Just some incredible tennis, no words left! Thank you!
A WARRIOR Rafael Nadal. His attitude of never giving up. NEVER! That’s a TRUE Champ.
Lmao what about the other times he gave up in a final? wasnt physically fit? My ass. He got lucky coz he hasnt played medvedev that many times. Easy enough to get a mental advantage because rafa is a big name.
@@anandprakash8175 you said 5 things and 4 were wrong. Are you actually a Rafa fan and you were disappointed in his win? Make up your ass, man.

Rafael Nadal have rivals like
1. Roger Federer
2. Novak Djokovic
3. Andy Murray

It is not easy to win major titles like that at all.
Rafael Nadal have 22 major titles which is huge achievement only.
Rafael Nadal leads 7-2 in majors against Andy Murray also which is big thing
Greatest Nadal Wins at US Open 2017-2019
2017: Delpo

2019: Medvedev
one of the best Us Open finals ever!
Now only you French Open , please watch and learn how to make a highlight. 🙄

And Wimbledon.

There’s not much to see though. Rafa destroying everyone XD
Watching this again, after Rafa's incredible win at AO this year
okay, I am officially a Medvedev fan!
Feel so bad for Medvedev. But Rafa was unbelievably consistent, precise, agile and athletic.
Here after watching winning of 2021 US open
Well deserve win danii 👏
Waited for 48 hours for this moment... Thank you so much Us open
Rafael Nadal is a warrior on the tennis court. Wow 😮 👏👏👏
Thank you so much US Open for putting this extended highlights which perfectly fits such a legendary match:))
How medvedev managed to win two back to back sets after losing first 2 sets in finals..Incredible
And How Nadal managed to win the 5th set after losing 3rd and 4th set..
I hope Rafa can pull it off again in Australian Open 2022. I always believed, even when the world doubts him. Best of luck Rafa. Vamos!
How does it feel now? Rafa is simply incredible
@@shawnatlast Mannnn... its the greatest feeling in the world. I have been watching the match on replay everyday ever since lol. No one has the fighting spirit tooooo deep as Rafa has....
Still remember that day I did not sleep all day watching the first set until the fourth set, but was too nervous and afraid to watch the results of the last set, so I chose to turn off the tv and go into the bedroom, just keep praying to God to give a miracle so Nadal could win this match, because I hope he win so badly, I am so happy when I turn on the tv and see the trophy ceremony for him. Thanks God and congratulations my Idol. You deserve to win and for me you are "GOAT" Of Tennis World. Vamos Rafa
THATS RIGHT US OPEN. Nadal and Medvedev deserve this!
I absolutely agree. That Medvedev is the next big thing all by himself..and especially now it makes more sense after his us open 2021 win against Djokovic and the Australian open 2022 epic final vs Nadal again.
Medvedev is the future of the sport after the big 3
Oh God yes, finally material that's worthy of legends. And if we ever doubted that Medvedev can play aggressively, step up and crush the ball, surely this match puts those doubts to bed.
Yeah this was the only match he played a bit agressive, the others were boring.
Because he didn't need to play aggressive to beat Wawrinka and Dimitrov, but he needed to adapt his game against Rafa because Rafa is too good
His net approach was simply too good, sprinkle some of that backhand and you've got an exceptional player in making. Just hope that he takes this loss as a positive step in his career
Incredibly impressed by Medvedev. Many great players would have given up on third set , but Medvedev's excelaration started from that point. Nadal won because he is Nadal, otherwise.....
Daniil is lucky. Nadal could’ve closed the match at the third set.
@@poshyvintage2180 I think Nadal was lucky. Because of his huge energetic EXPERIENCE he wrapped up the match. After seeing Medvedev's unbelievable effort how can anyone say what you said. ....

i have reasons to believe that Medevev's blood is cold.
Nope, Medvedev's blood is red hot, lol! He has real passion for the game. But he has nerves of steel!
Rafa. Sangre caliente y cabeza fría.
He is 10 years younger than Nadal. If the matador faced him in his 20s he would eat him alive.
@Oleg Bauer first of all, no need to insult people. All of us can be keyboard warriors. Second, by the age of 24 nadal completed the grand slam and had an Olympic gold. Third, a French minister was ordered to pay damages to nadal after falsely accusing him of doping.

Have watched it 10 times already. Thanks a lot for these extended highlights!!!
A scintillating display of resilience, hard work, sheer grit and determination by both players. In the end, having great respect for each other. Brilliant.
40:54 One of the strongest Nadal's moments of his entire career. This is rare.
Yes it was one of toughest matches both forRafa and his world wide fans full of pain and excitement ended in happiness .
I cried when that happened! he looked so exhausted even before that point, it looks like he would have wanted to fist pump but couldn't even hold his weight anymore. Such an intense moment when you watch it live
Yeah this was an incredibly powerful moment. Rafa doesn’t usually let his opponent see any weaknesses but this was a true “I’m on my last legs” moment. As you say, rare.
Although the debate of greatest of all time will never end, I know one thing is for sure. Nadal is without a doubt the greatest cerebral warrior of all time. His focus and determination to win is unlike anything we have seen. Truely remarkable
This is wildly memorable.
My second time watching the entire match!
I would like to thank US Open Tennis Championships for the extended highlights.
You guys are the best!!!
Round of applause for you all.
Please keep up the great work.
And two years later, he beats #1 Novak in straight sets: 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the absence of Rafa.

So glad I was there that weekend and bought a ticket. Best match I ever seen. Next level tennis of both players and what a vibe in the crowd. Still buzzing of this amazing experience.
Anyone here before AO final 2022?
Was very similar
Back here after watching Daniil US Open final against Novak... what a different match. Nadal was really on top of his game, very aggresive, and Medvedev looks so overplayed and lost in his jungle. Missing that Nadal, hopefully we will see some more flashes of his talent next year. No one is forever.
That was pre-pandemic Nadal when he had a completely different mindset than now... 😒 He was on fire in 2019 and we saw a glimpse of then only last year in RG 😔
@Anubhav Mahapatra It's not that easy anymore, dude... He'll be 36 next year, he needs to play a lot more than this year, otherwise it's very tough 🙄
So here we are : Nadal vs Meddy this Sunday in AO’22 finals !
Thanks US Open!
This is the real definition of highlights!
10 minutes less cannot compound an almost 5 hour thriller of a game.
nadals face when he looks into medweds eyes after winning the final point... you can see that he knows exactly how danil feels. and appreciates his match
When people say Nadal is just brute force and no technique, or that he doesn't volley well, they should look at this moment: 35:24
Nadal won the first two sets, but then Medvedev somehow recovered with very agressive and inspired play.
MrBolaextra those people who said that dont know tennis at all. Period.
@@meriru808 I mean maybe people said that 13 years ago, but I never heard anyone say that
@Revanth His slice is also fantastic now.
I seen this match for 3rd time and still watch again. So incredible match ❤️❤️❤️ can’t believe it. Congrats for rafa you are deserve the best
This just might be the epic finals in the AUS OPEN 2022.

now this is what i call HIGHLIGHTS...thank you soo much, these allow me to whiteness how epic and memorable this battle was, what talent both players showed and how close this match was, literally a matter of a few important points.

Nadal is the most complete player ever. In addition, playing on clay is much more difficult than on another surface, since it requires greater technical and tactical resources, as it is not limited to serve and volley. Nothing is, beyond partisan opinions, the best player. Greetings.

I don't think so, Daniil is a warrior. Rafa made a break at the beginning of the 3rd set and Daniil immediately returned it. In the 5th set Rafa led 5:2, but then missed 2 games.
Figure skating art Daniil is just lucky, Nadal made some unforced errors. Nadal’s could’ve closed the match at 3:0

He is already 23 so chances of him getting better is less.
@@zubin081 Look at Wawrinka ... Of course he can be better and he will if he doesn't get injured
His coach should try to get Medvedev to end rallies a bit sooner.

Djokovic is GOAT , Federer is GOATER BUT NADAL IS THE GOATEST
Who is GOAT?
Greatest of all time, watch* a clip when Federer is being asked about if he's a GOAT it's hilarious
I guess here
GOAT means - Great of all time.
GOATER means - Greater of all time .
GOATEST means - Greatest of all time and that is surely RAFA now. 😍😍
