Thing is here these conditions was the best possible for Novak with the closed roof and cold temperature, more control + lower bounce. So even though it is clay this match should have been closer maybe even a different winner perhaps if Novak played his best.

The GOAT tittle is debatable but the biggest role model and gentleman in this sport is Rafa by far and to me that's why he is the GOAT because there is more to it then on court results (which he also has)

Katherine Sparkes to have 20 GS when you are excellent on clay or grass is twice more difficult than to win on hard court. Not only that. To play on clay is the most difficult of the three as it requires much more technique, mental strength and strategy as you cannot rely so much on your service. That is why he is the best even if Federer has a more refined technique. That and because his injury struggles and his come backs and his humility and his attitude on and off court. Federer was playing tennis 5 years without facing an strong opponent. In fact, Rafa lost 2 Wimbledon Finals before he defeated him in 2008. Federer won one RG because Nadal was out with injury. It is like Thiem’s US open victory without the Top 3.

Everything was against him winning this year's tournament - he hadn't won a warm-up tournament leading into Roland Garros for the first time in his career, the cold, wet weather and heavy ball would neutralise his natural advantages, and the seemingly invincible Novak Djokovic who owns a winning record (29-26) over him would be too much for him to overcome.
I just love how Rafa rises to the challenge and overcomes adversity each and every time. Yes, there's been some heartbreaking losses over the years but I am never disappointed in being his fan. When he loses, he accepts it and moves on and comes back even stronger.

The first player in tennis history to win a 4 times GS titles without lose a set after 2008, 2010, 2017, incredible
    And he doesn't win 7: 5 7: 6 (with a few exceptions), only 6: 0, 6: 1 6: 2 ... unimaginable
He can read a game better, he can do more with the ball than anyone else, he plays aerodynamically and is very clever tactically.
The difference between him and the others is so big on clay and especially in RG that even if he played with 50% of his ability he would win in 3 tight sets or in 4.
We will never see a player like that again, not even on other surfaces

@@james-vx7nv I'm glad that Novak is back in Australia, and at the peak of his power and greatness nevertheless. I still can't diminish Rafa's epic AO run last year since it was a very tough achievement, beating Medvedev in the final, but I wanted Novak in as well. It will be double digits for him indeed, and for the first time. I don't know if he'll win 10 Wimbledons but you just can't count him out.

@@VaisinI can't see him losing a Wimbledon match for another 2-3 years, perhaps 4. No matter the situation, last 4 years, he finds a way each time.
In a 5+ hour battle vs peak Rafa (2018 SF) and facing multiple break points in the fifth? No problem for Novak.
      Down a set to a Brit (2018 R3 Edmund, 2022 SF Norrie, 2021 R1 Draper)? No problem.
Down 2 match points to Roger? Not a problem. Not to mention 100% of the crowd was against Novak. Sun in his eyes too and he was returning Federer's serve. Then again crowds are never an issue for Novak.
Down 2 sets to a guy 15 years younger? (Sinner 2022 QF) No problem.
Down a set to Kyrgios (2022 Final) having never won a set vs Nick and never having broken his serve previously? No problem.
Down a set to a guy undefeated on grass that season? (Berrettini 2021 final) no problem.
Regardless of who defeats him, its gonna be a SEISMIC shock next time Novak loses a Wimbledon match. Makes Murrays win in 2013 all the more incredible that he managed to pull it off.
Rafa's epic AO run isnt possible with Novak in Australia. But Medvedev was also in fantastic form and mentally in a great place, especially after coming from 2 sets and MP down vs FAA who himself had a great year. Rafa coming from 2 sets down vs a confident Medvedev was truly stunning given the circumstances. The tough 5 setter vs Shapo when Nadal won despite heat stroke. And being out for 5 months before. Only downside was that it destroyed Meddy's confidence. He hasn't been the same since.
