I just want to say thank you to US Open for sharing this PROPER highlight for Rafa's best performance in this tournament based on my opinion of course.
Cilic is absolutely not a slouch. He's so fast and powerful and 6'6'' tall like A. Zverev and Medvedev, but Nadal has better aim, consistency, strategy, endurance, deceptiveness, unpredictability, and prodigious shots like the one around the post. In-flippin'-credible!
@@Luchon20082010 Bro that's what I said. Cilic played well but against a wrong opponent. This is tennis, not chess. Players will move. It's okay. Cilic not gonna win a GS again. So chill
achu4195 i am calmed. I think you dont understand what i just have said. Cilic destroyed Nadal in every way, but Nadal won most pf the crucial points. He was just lucky
Take some of the best points by Cilic but against average players and they would get discouraged "no way I can beat this guy". Nadal cannot ever let those thoughts in. He stays focused to the final point. He sometimes loses when a top player plays his very best but he is never beaten mentally.
Cilic played top 5 tennis here. Went for a winner the first opportunity in every rally & it paid off most of the match but Rafa was too good that day. The people who say US open has been slowed down are just morons look at how Cilic was able to hit winner after winner in the 1st 3 sets the only thing is that when you're that aggressive you tend to make more errors... that's part & parcel of the game! You never complain that the AUS open has become faster since 2017.....
US Open is definitely the slower hard court compared to Australian Open. Even players said that the surface is 'sandy' and therefore has more grip on the ball bounces. Slow court is not bad, no one is saying that fast court is better. All those who are condemning slow court are just salty because their herores can't keep up with Rafa.
Cilic's game can match Nadal's game. The only difference is consistency n endurance. Nadal can stay at that height needed for a longer time. Cilic melts as the match goes on.
When Cilic is in the zone, he literally can beat anyone from the baseline, he just brutally takes the ball on the rise with huge pace. Problem is, like you said of course, he can usually never maintain that the whole match.
bullshit, Cilic was in the zone in the 3rd and 4th set and Nadal was better not because of consistency or endurance, but because his best was simply better.
Absolutely! And Roger made a statement this week and said, " We will see how next year(2021)goes and we will take it from there." So we have maybe another 2 three years of being privileged enough to watch Roger, and Rafa v. Roger. Which to me is still the best rivalry and one of the greatest in the history of the sport.
@@vincenthannah7209: I certainly respect his passion. But I'm hoping he doesn't hang around beyond his ability like some have. He probably won't. He strikes me as being very realistic and practical.
@@notsohandytim5090 I agree with you wholeheartedly. Roger doe almost everything right. I am sure he will get his retirement right as well. I think he will call it quits when he starts to believe that he can not win any more majors. Rafa on the other hand maybe forced to retire due to his injuries. I hope that is not the case....It will be a very sad to time when the Big 3 are gone, especially Rafa and Roger. In the past 15 years we have witnessed the 3 best players in the history of our sport. That will not happen again in our lifetimes.
Kyrgios is kind of the black sheep of the sport. Definately you have villain Joker and godly Federer and Warrior Nadal but Kyrgios denied himself the chance of ever winning slams. He is a spoiled baby
Rafa shots need to land 3/4 or on baselines more often say 90% - that occurring Nadal chances of winning matches would be very high. And mix it up with drop shots, volleys and lobs, not just power at all times. This type of game plan is so interesting for the sport. Cheers
I feel Djokovic and federer have been more consistently due to their body’s holding up well through the years but when rafa is at his best there’s nobody that can take him.
Just look at 🐅's reactions...to each and every point that Nadal won...as if he won the point, not Nadal... Ohhhh... 🐅 in the house...a lion on the court...& a tiger in the stands...look out... people... beware...how couldn't the atmosphere be electric???
Johnny English what do u think about the Australian open final in 2019 then? Biggest rape ever???😂. For being superior, nadals display was disappointing, Cilic made more winners and he could have easily won the match
Cilic was using more power and less brain to beat Nadal here. Thats not how you beat Nadal man. Cilic winners are so clean that Nadal was not even trying to run. There is no use of such winners. Nadal would have won this match even if he had lost first two sets. He was looking fresh even at the end of the match. If the Croatian cant try drop shots and make Nadal run more there will be hardly any chance for him against Nadal. In many recent matches against Rafa, Cilic actually won the 1st set and still lost them. And still he didnt learn anything from those losses
Rafa loves the US Open, aside from Roland Garros this is where he plays his best tennis. I think he likes that this hardcourt plays faster than the one in Australia and also I think he likes the intensity of the crowd, they bring out the best in him.
The bounce, the humidity, the heat all are Rafa's strengths. No wonder he does well in Flushing Meadows after RG. Would love to watch Djokovic Rafa Finals this year at USO. Djokovic last lost on HC to Rafa there only but again that was nearly 8 yrs back..
The run Nadal goes on at 13:08 to hold and then break Cilic at the start of set 3 is incredible, feral hitting followed by 2 crazy points at 13:43 that destroy Cilic mentally and contribute to the double fault. After that it was a juggernaut
The transformation of Rafa after the second set from defense to super offence was simply magical. Just goes to show how many hidden gears this guy has waiting for some triggers. Simple amazing.
The only problem with Nadal's game is that he stands too far away from the baseline in order to return serves. And I think that is what gives Federer and Djokovic the edge over him in those later years of the rivalry. But if Nadal was standing closer to the baseline like he did during the ealier years, he'd still be dominating them both.
he does play like that with djokovic in hard court but in the US Open because nadal likes the US open conditions. The h2h is in nadals favour in this tournament
88feji dude chill some players do that to help themselves concentrate during matches. Plus, there's a given amount of time you can use before serving, so he decides how he wants yo use it. It's tough to maintain your focus there especially in a situation where you face Rafa and a tough crowd.
Tiger just wanted to piss off Federer. He showed up in Serena's match again to make some publicity stunt on TV, that's the match before Federer vs. Dimitrov, then, he disappeared, which made Federer wondering the whole match, where is that guy? Apparently, Federer got distracted for that and lost to Dimi the first time. Then, after that, Tiger never showed up again in the US Open, even during Nadal and Serena's finals.
