Something for those who are not plumbers: when you choose your closet flange for this type of installation, make sure to get one that has “Flush” in its description. The flange Tom used is a flush flange. The difference between a flush flange and one that is not is, there is a small 45º chamfer on the outside of the hub, just below the flange portion of the non-flush closet flange which will cause the closet flange to sit about 5/16” too high unless you chip-out concrete around the pipe coming up out of the floor and cut the pipe down farther than the top of the floor. You don’t have to do this with a flush flange. What you want to look for, and what Tom used here, is a 4”x3” Flush Closet Flange with knockout. You can also get them without the knockout cap. If you go to any plumbing supply house and ask for a Sioux Chief TKO Closet Flange with a stainless steel ring, you will get exactly what Tom used and exactly what you need.
