In fact Samsung appears destined to lose MKBHD’s phone camera awards again.

People with galaxy ultras how many times do you use the spen in a day? One ui is too colorful..reminds me of the Chinese android os..people who go crazy over the 200megapixels on the camera have never seen a camera comparison that the galaxy always loses..and lastly the ai features on the phone are somewhat copied straight from the pixel phones..nothing really that innovative..unless im missing aomething the s24u is a very minor update from last years..
Pixel are not there year. North Americans and Europeans have money to buy iPhone and Galaxy and that's what they do. Google needs to bring something really special to beat a Galaxy or an iPhone. I've checked for Pixel sales in France : again in 2023, Google doesn't even reach 2% of marketshare. I only know one person who owns a Pixel. New design, efficient chip, best camera video, AI on device, Google need to do something different and better.
The Pixel 8 pro is a midranger and does have enough power for a supposed to end phone. Ai takes long High res Processing takes long Video editing takes long Opening apps take in comparison to my Flip 4 never mind the Fold 5 or S24. Gameplay is testing And the thing still runs warm. I will be getting rid of mine before the value drops lower than what i paid for it, that will pay for the OP12 arriving next week. The market value really does reflect on what the masses think of the Pixels with 40% of its value gone inside 4 months.
You are right that the hardware is better in the s24, but a lot of people don't care about that. My s8 still runs things fine. As for AI, google is likely always going to be ahead in that regard and many workloads cannot be run locally. Cloud AI is probably going to be better for a long time which means these functions will have to choose between being slow or providing inferior results. This also reduces the advantage of superior hardware. The value is dropping on Pixel 8 for the same reason the value on Teslas dropped--sales. S8 makes sense for people who don't want to spend on unnecessary hardware.
@Brian-ph7jg Your S8 runs good enough for you, it's very presumptuous of you to say say many people dont care when th4 bulk of phjnes sold are kn 2 year contracts. There are budgets phone now have performance equal or better than the S8.🤣 Lot of its buts and maybes in yuur statement but one thing for sure the AI functions need to happen on the phone or people with very fed-up very quickly. Magic editor and video boost are a total waste of time, I don't even both using them and I'm sure after a couple of goes .most other people won't either they simply take too long The AI needs to happen on the phone and for that you are going to need more power, meaning better hardware on your phone and not on a server farm.
Google is going to be an AI company. Rumor has it. They're going to be charging for all of their features monthly and scrap the phone industry entirely as far as their own flagship
Personally, I'd go for the P8P. "Pure Android" is great, plus call screening and the other little software things on the Pixel make it a tough phone to beat, and you save a few hundred bucks. 🏆
Samsung better than apple same crap over priced over hyped and people fall for it tons of phones have same specs come with a actual modern day charging system 80 watts plus and they actually put the charger in the box and they are half the price but morons pay more for less exactly what we used to make fun of apple for.
Owning both devices - Pixel is Camera King. Samsungs shutter lag is a disaster. It is impossible to get sharp shots when your kids playing football or your cat jumps from the roof! Ultra is having better display outdoors and remains feature king. As for me the Camera is the most important thing I give the win to the Pixel 8 pro!
The color on the pixel8 pro is very impressive even when comparing to samsung. Samsung has bright colors but pixel has rich deep colors. Also nobody can tell the difference between 489ppi and 500 ppi both are right at 1440p so yeah no human eye can see the difference.
Great to hear. I had the Huawei Mate 20 Pro (for the camera which wasn't so user friendly - then it seemed to get software glitches) the Samsung S10 and then the S22U which freezes stuck on and I have had it say System UI not responding (first time it froze stuck on was day 1 and its just gotten worse. Possibly the Exynos chip bc UK/Europe got the short end of the stick) I found the Samsung camera to give worse results than any of the various iPhones my parents/my siblings/their partners have (including older ones) and I posted about ot on Reddit questioning whether it was the Exynos chip and people said its the camera and the S24U (which I wanted to get) is worse. I've seen a lot of reviews saying the Pixel 8 Pro has a much better camera. But does it have draw on screen etc features? I don't mind losing the inbuilt stylus from the S22U but have found the screen drawing/translate *very* useful. Also the AI features (esp in camera) look so cool. Except maybe Besf Take; that's kinda creepy you can Deepfake photos like that
I have the s21 and am considering getting the s24. But I've had a pixel before and wasn't disappointed. Really thinking about getting the s24 for the S pen.
If the Samsung Company, answer the customer and Fix the green line issue.. then i will consider it as my 1st choice to buy.. More than 1year of use S24U, this enevitable will show...
I think you miss few points , may be you don''t use phone in that way or upgrade early, i want to buy a phone in 2024 that i can use for next 5 years, looking at samsung hardware it make more sense ,, and samsung Dex is really useful if you travel and also want to browse and do some productive work for hours
I'll pick pixel 8 pro because it has the best software on any phone. Also, because galaxy AI will no longer be free by 2025. The $300 difference will also get me a pixel watch 2 or galaxy watch 6 classic for my Pixel 8 pro.
We don't care after a year or two.. we are talking about the current time The pixel 8 pro is more valuable device Unless you don't care about your money and that extra 300 is not an issue for you. But then delete the word valuable from your dictionary
What? Maybe where you live. Samsung devices lose their value extremely fast here around, most take a dive directly in the first month before stabilizing a bit. Pixel keep their value longer, annoyingly..
Stinks the battery life has been sub-par. I think S24U is the King do-it-all flagship and for video, Pixel 8 Pro may be the best value flagship if you want AI features, but Vivo X100 Pro best value and photo camera phone. Oppo X7 Ultra might edge out overall photo/video phone if they release it globally. Just one opinion though.
My son has the P8P. He upgraded from a P6P. He likes it as he is now a Google pixel afficionado however he does admit that it wasn't worth the extra money to upgrade. He reckons the main noticeable difference is the battery is a bit better. I have an Honor Magic 5 Pro & we've tested each cameras on a varying range of scenarios. The Magic5 Pro is superior in terms of camera images and battery longevity. The P8P has more gimmicks in its software but like for like, the honor has the better cameras. I personally think the P8P has a nicer screen in terms of colour moderation and the general UI is better than the magic5. The honor software is it's biggest let down as it is utterly dire.
Going with pixel 8 pro here. If you use google fi samsung has not pushed any update to allow visual voicemail to work with the carrier, and i dont care for the fact that you are not allowed to disable apps like samsungs messaging app if you favor the google flavor. And yes while another says the price of the samsung will fair better in 2 yrs. You will be able to buy 2 pixel phones easy for the 1 samsung you purchase in 2 years
Why would Samsung need to send an update for something no one else in the world has an issue with besides you? This is legit the first and only person ive ever heard say that the battery on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra needs updating. Not only that, but he went as far as to say the Google Pixel 8 Pro has the superior battery life. This guy is literally the only person on RUclips with this opinion. 99.9% of people are more then content with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultras battery efficiency so I highly doubt Samsungs going to risk messing with an already nearly perfect phone to accommodate you😂.

@DeadofWinter321 that's false. Samsung at this point in time has been known to have extraordinary battery life.
I had the same or battery life problem with s22 ultra. So basically it's just crap.
Ai takes long
High res Processing takes long
Video editing takes long
Opening apps take in comparison to my Flip 4 never mind the Fold 5 or S24.
Gameplay is testing
And the thing still runs warm.
@Brian-ph7jg
Your S8 runs good enough for you, it's very presumptuous of you to say say many people dont care when th4 bulk of phjnes sold are kn 2 year contracts. There are budgets phone now have performance equal or better than the S8.🤣
Lot of its buts and maybes in yuur statement but one thing for sure the AI functions need to happen on the phone or people with very fed-up very quickly.
Magic editor and video boost are a total waste of time, I don't even both using them and I'm sure after a couple of goes .most other people won't either they simply take too long
The AI needs to happen on the phone and for that you are going to need more power, meaning better hardware on your phone and not on a server farm.
This is a video about s24 ultra, thats it. nothing about the pixel 8 pro!
Lol
Loving the content. I like watching local content creators. trying to see if I know where you're filming.
Lol that's not creepy at all 👀
@@CallMeKJOS totally not. I like seeing if I know the areas is all. Fine. I don't buy you a coffee if I see you. Hhahaha
😂
Awkward
Samsung's Ai isnt even there own they literally used Googles and pretend its theres.
Google is going to be an AI company. Rumor has it. They're going to be charging for all of their features monthly and scrap the phone industry entirely as far as their own flagship
Battery life in s24 ultra😢
You battery life will likely be fixed with the update
Samsung all the way go Samsung
Please can this ai call feature be used on other apps like WhatsApp call?
No
the option only available for samsung dialers
I'm looking at both phones so what do people think is best? I'm leaning towards the Pixel 8 pro
The Pixel is a much more satisfying phone.
Personally, I'd go for the P8P. "Pure Android" is great, plus call screening and the other little software things on the Pixel make it a tough phone to beat, and you save a few hundred bucks. 🏆
Samsung copiedbor didn't Chang much, nor Google
Wipe your screens, lol. Good review
I like them both so ill just get both 😂
Samsung better than apple same crap over priced over hyped and people fall for it tons of phones have same specs come with a actual modern day charging system 80 watts plus and they actually put the charger in the box and they are half the price but morons pay more for less exactly what we used to make fun of apple for.
fast charging at even higher watts is bad for battery health your just burning your battery up quicker
Can you buy me one please?
Why?
@@CallMeKJOS because I like the phone
@@kilogolfmike8095work for it, you'll even appreciate it more!
The Pixel 8 pro display looks better sorry
Owning both devices - Pixel is Camera King. Samsungs shutter lag is a disaster. It is impossible to get sharp shots when your kids playing football or your cat jumps from the roof! Ultra is having better display outdoors and remains feature king. As for me the Camera is the most important thing I give the win to the Pixel 8 pro!
Thanks so much. My phone is important as I take pics of my 5 kids constantly. I guess I'll be getting the Pixel in the morning 😊
@@faithscheetz5361 you won't regret it 😉
#TeamPixel
The color on the pixel8 pro is very impressive even when comparing to samsung. Samsung has bright colors but pixel has rich deep colors.
Also nobody can tell the difference between 489ppi and 500 ppi both are right at 1440p so yeah no human eye can see the difference.
Have the Pixel 8 Pro and its hands down the best phone I've ever owned.
Possibly the Exynos chip bc UK/Europe got the short end of the stick)
I found the Samsung camera to give worse results than any of the various iPhones my parents/my siblings/their partners have (including older ones) and I posted about ot on Reddit questioning whether it was the Exynos chip and people said its the camera and the S24U (which I wanted to get) is worse.
I bought the s24 ultra today. Like you, I had the s21 ultra. But the s pen and the new AI features made me fall for it
That is not a pen, is a toothpick.
I got the S23U and cant stand the sharp edges..would the pixel be worth switching phones??
If the Samsung Company,
answer the customer and Fix the green line issue.. then i will consider it as my 1st choice to buy..
Missing my one plus 7t pro display( which I exchanged)😢
S24 ultra display is very dull and pathetic made in a hurry I think
Ultra will be a much better value in a year or two. Pixels lose value much faster.
True. didn't think of that
This was before Google's 7yrs of OS and security update. So nope! Nor this time
We don't care after a year or two.. we are talking about the current time
The pixel 8 pro is more valuable device
Unless you don't care about your money and that extra 300 is not an issue for you. But then delete the word valuable from your dictionary
What? Maybe where you live. Samsung devices lose their value extremely fast here around, most take a dive directly in the first month before stabilizing a bit. Pixel keep their value longer, annoyingly..
Tout les téléphone Android ils ont pas de valeur😂😂
The battery life for Samsung phones improve after about a week of the device learning your daily usage
wtf... this phone is better, but this one did first... so it's a tie... WTF
You will be able to buy 2 pixel phones easy for the 1 samsung you purchase in 2 years
Returned the pixel 8 pro and bought the s24 ultra. Pixel pro was very nice, but lasted 3 days before turning off then going into a bootloop.
Both of them are great but S24 Ultra can do a little bit more.
Facts
I cannot live without Pixel's call screen feature.
The battery life on my S24 Ultra was also mildly dismal compared to my Pixel 8 Pro.
@@DeadofWinter321 so two people have that opinion, nice
@@CREEBANDZ510 - There are (factually) more than just two people that have experienced the same battery life. It's a Samsung, they're known to have weak batteries. This is nothing new.
@DeadofWinter321 that's false. Samsung at this point in time has been known to have extraordinary battery life. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra gets me anywhere from 1-2 full days of battery life depending on my usage and ive never managed to kill my phones battery in a single day, not once. Everyone knows the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is just an upgraded, more efficient version of its predecessor so I don't agree. I've legit never heard someone say the Google Pixel 8 Pro has better battery life than a Samsung flagship. The phone that's known for its weak battery life has always been the Pixel, not Samsung.
@@CREEBANDZ510 - Has always been the Pixel, you claim? I'll believe that when it's actually true. I returned my S24 Ultra and kept my Pixel 8 Pro, this phone is too good to settle for a Samsung.
Something is definitely wrong. I get up to over 9 hours of screen-on time and almost 24 hours of battery life with medium to heavy use.
In which phone ?
@alexandrecisneros970 s24U but generally when I get that when I'm at home most of the day on wifi.
6:19 😂🤣
😂🤣
Yeah, s24 is just software update, for me! Maybe someone has other opinion. But pixel 8 pro is just ( again for me ) better.
I love my pixel 8 pro so much. I always come back
Ultra battery😭😭😭
Now you can officially measure body temperature on the Pixel 8 Pro and it's actually pretty good.
It's alright. I don't see the big deal
Nobody needs that, lol. Innovation is really gone, smh.
I'm pretty sure the temperature sensor only works on people if you are in the US, I don't believe it has been approved yet in Europe.
I'm pretty sure they anticipated the pandemic being more than it is and you wanted that feature so that people could measure their body temperatures for covid
the pixel looks clean but I'd pick the s24 ultra because of performance
Agreed.
Performance for what though, gaming, video editing or day to day "phone" things?
They downgrade snap dragon 3 and it is performing like crap everywhere.what the hell you talking 😂

Pixel 8 Pro
Great balanced interview , I have both and echo your sentiments. I'm now starting to learn back towards the 8 Pro again as photos are better and general feel in the hand
Appreciate you bro
